I remember an anecdote from the guy who designed that specific Street Shark: apparently he was rushed and, when time came to design the character's shoes, he looked down and just copied the Doc Martins he was wearing. Also, the rubber main body was so you could move the hard plastic fin behind the head up and down to make the toy "bite" with its ginormous maw. That was honestly my favorite part of the line, you could make them eat other action figures.
Troll dolls were a single piece of hollow plastic with the hair rooted into the head, so they would've had to do some extra work to make it into an action figure head, but that's still possible.

06:10 Thats right Stu, Captain Power and the soldiers of the future. There was a line of figures, and a line of interative toy vehicles that came with a VHS tape that you could play and shoot flashing pink things on your old CRT tv screen (doesnt work with anything else of course) with your powerjet, or striker, or interlocker, whichever vehicle you had, and avoid flashing yellow things or you'd take hits, and if you ran out of powerpoints then your vehicle's pilot would eject from the vehicle to show game over. Or you could put the vehicle in 'room' mode and shoot a little shiny target instead. Hours of fun. Well, about an hour, thats how long the tape that came with my powerjet ran anyway I think.
Truly there's no joy quite like going to a toy show and rooting through bins of weird loose toys. Great finds! I love seeing what sorts of things catch other people's eye.
Robin Hood: prince of thieves is one of my favorite toy lines ever *because* of all the re-used molds it’s really fun to compare and contrast everything from where it came from
I too had one of those ‘Hairy Snake-man’ rubber Batman toys. I threw it in a river off the side of a boat in the later 80’s and my father got me.. a replacement ‘Hairy Snake-man’ 😂
22 minute video of Ashens and weird old action figures? Please and thank you! These are honestly my favorite format and content of your videos as a fellow person who’s always loved action figures!
Oh man, I loved Street Sharks. Always loved how robust the figures were. I had 3 of them as a kid. Rox, Ripster and Moby Lick. Moby Lick was my favourite with his creepy long tongue, I used to carry him around.
I love Street Sharks-figures, have 3 of them. One of them is like the coolest action figure ever: His limbs are very solid, but his body is made of rubber; if you pull his backfin up and down, he does a biting move; if you pull his right hand back and release it, he does a big punch; he's 100% waterproof, like a real shark, so a kid can play with him even in the bathtub, without the worry of his screws rusting; and his teeth glow in the dark!
Interesting fact about the Secret Wars toy line. It actually partially inspired the iconic Symbiote arc in the Spider-Man comics, on account of Mattel being a big fan of being able to sell two identical spider-men in two different colors, it convinced Marvel to keep Spidey's black costume around longer, leading to the Symbiote arc and inevitably to the creation of Venom
Oh man, as soon as "Hairy Snake Man" appeared and I saw the thin blue rubber cape I suddenly remembered I had one as a child as well! I wonder how many of these things snuck into homes in the 80s...
Ashens, if you want to know more about Galaxy Warriors and the knock-offs and bootlegs thereof, Phelous has a whole subseries about the 'Galaxy Warriors black hole' or "Galaxy Hole" as he calls it in his "Bootleg Zones" video series. Maybe he could even shed more light on the 'Internet Troll' figure. I just don't recommend introducing him and Paul Gannon to each other because of the potential Ghostbusters geek-out overload.
The pink Troll Warrior is Lars the Protector! He came with his trusty Battle-Axe of Justice. My older brother had Lars, and I had Fanta (tiny purple troll with bright yellow hair and a Fabulous Slingshooter for a weapon). We both had a Thorbjorg troll too (blue with bright yellow hair and a "Snappy Snapper Trapper" for a weapon)... Oh the memories! ... And of course we both had a rubbery Odd-Hairy-Snakeman. Thanks for taking me back to my childhood years.
The street shark figure with mixed hardness of plastic/rubber reminds me of the old TMNT figures where their heads were each a different shade of green and were actually of a different hardness going from very soft and rubbery to rock solid for some reason. If I remember correctly I think Donatello's head was rock hard but Raphael was super soft and squishy with the other two in between
Yes it was 'Captain Power and The Soldiers of the Future'. First live action series that featured fully CGI Characters, Two of Dread's henchman were fully CGI Robots. Captain Power's full name was Captain Jonathan Power
I spotted that exact street shark you’ve got there when I was toy fair. Almost picked it up but then I realised that would mean keeping it in my house, so I left it there and bought things that I like instead.
The Pirates of Dark Water one, holy cow. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who remembers that show, so it's blowing my mind to see it had toys. I was obsessed with the show as a kid and was so upset that the storyline never got finished.
It was completely cool it even had details that were not really found for something like it was from the time. Like the "swearing" in the pirate language was able to slide by all the censorship.
Pirates of the Dark Water wasn't exactly eco-Captain-Planety, it was a weirdass bio-punk seafaring adventure to seal what was pretty much an eldritch god; the series had a e s t h e t i c s up the wazoo and one of the hurtiest cliffhangers in animation history. I'd recommend it wholeheartedly.
Bloth had quite a distinct voice indeed, but that was because he was voiced by Brock Peters whom, among other things, voiced Dark Kat in SWAT Kats and numerous other cartoon characters over a very long career. Even those who never watched much in the ways of cartoons might still know him as the father of Benjamin Sisko, Joseph Sisko, from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
I often just buy specifically things people I know might like. Also anything I don't look at for 6 months goes back to the same opp shop. Opp shop scouting is every Saturday morning when I can manage it. 2 large "warehouse" ones on the main road near me, old furniture for $50. Old books, toys, clothes, etc.
Back in the 90s my brother and I had military trolls with short hair like a bristle brush. His had a black ninja-ish outfit and mine had full body green camo. Arm and legs were articulated and they had the muscly superhero bodies and rubber heads.
The Batman bootleg: Ben Cooper released Batman "jigglers" in 1973. The arms were up because Batman and Superman were flying. The ripoff came out the same year, and is harder to find than the Jiggler Batman. Nice collection!
I loved (and still love) The Pirates of Dark Water. Dan thing got cancelled before the Prince could get all the gubbins needed to stop the evil out there. I did like the Griffin who loved pomegranates, and even played the game at one point. If any 80's/90's series that needed a live action series or movie made it would be this.

I don't think I had any other Marvel figures as a kid? And while I enjoy Kang he's not like my favorite Marvel villain or anything. Probably something my parents bought at a garage sale.
Hairy Snakeman almost looks like they took a mold of one of those rubber monkeys, and then carved Batman clothes into said mold. I've definitely seen this sort of thing done with other GeneriCo toys.
Is the Internet Troll part of the infamous Galaxy Hole? Some of those ended up with RANDOM heads, like The Cowardly Lion, and the bodies look IDENTICAL.
17:10 the white suit troll with red circle on chest is Troll Force ninja white from company called Toys N Things in 1992 (Google image search troll force look at card backs). The other white one I'm not sure but think is again either troll force or troll fighter by Simba but can't see another with a white body so maybe someone's painted it or it's another ko line of trolls lol
I have a couple of those Troll Warrior figures. One is a purple troll with named Fanta and another is a hot pink troll wizard named Oddvar. They may have been targeted to boys but I like them because they're still ugly-cute like regular troll dolls, but the Battle Trolls were just plain ugly. And I don't get why they thought troll dolls were supposed to be for girls, I remember boys liking the Thomas Dam-type trolls in the 1990s as well. Although the writing on the packaging for Battle Trolls was amusing: "To make sure your Battle Troll stays happy, just follow these simple rules: DON'T feed him, DON'T be nice to him and KEEP him hidden in a dark, smelly place. With the proper neglect, your Battle Troll should stay mean, cranky, and ready to fight anyone or anything for years!"
Oh man, that "responding to the tv show" thing reminds me of the old Galidor LEGO sets. The Kek Powerizer toy would have difference replies to the TV based on what head was attached.
The rubbery heads on the street sharks figures was from a point of articulation on the dorsal fin with allowed for a "chomping" action although that one doesn't appear to have one so who knows 😂

@@lutherheggs451 This is correct. Babylon 5 was mentioned in Captain Power long before it was its own show. Presumably Stracynski either had the base of the idea even then, or he just reused the name..
That batman-ish figure reminds me of an odd pointless toy I had as a child. It was a plastic batman figure with arms, legs and head that didnt move, Tied with some easily knotted string to a yellow nylon 'parachute'. You were supposed to be able to wrap it up, throw it in the air, and watch it float down. It didnt work on any level.
I remember those parachute toys, the only way to get them to work was to throw them off of a very high building. Like a multi storey carpark. Twelve floors high works okay but only if you are lucky enough to manage to not tangle up the cords which is practically impossible.
I had that knock off batman in the 80s! Unfortunately the wings tear very easily and mine ended up with horribly torn wings. It's very old and even more interesting is the wings are intact
The one pink haired troll's face reminds me of one of the creatures one of the skexis has trapped in their laboratory. Or maybe one of the goblins in Labrynth. I can't remember.
Hairy Snake Man is actually Winding Road Ahead Man. They’re often mistaken for each other.

Hairy Snakeman almost looks like they took a mold of one of those rubber monkeys, and then carved Batman clothes into said mold. I've definitely seen this sort of thing done with other GeneriCo toys.
I had so many street sharks as a kid, I’m so happy to see one here!
Is the Internet Troll part of the infamous Galaxy Hole? Some of those ended up with RANDOM heads, like The Cowardly Lion, and the bodies look IDENTICAL.
"Roscoe" looks like a great start to making that "Benny Hill" figure you always wanted!
I thought the exact same ! 😂
I had the bullseye troll!! Probably still in a box somewhere in the loft!!
Oh man, that "responding to the tv show" thing reminds me of the old Galidor LEGO sets. The Kek Powerizer toy would have difference replies to the TV based on what head was attached.
Loved Pirates of Dark Water great early Saturday morning cartoon. Captain power and the soilders of the future. Wow got some great figures there
21:02 Dukes of Hazzard, not CHPS. Two of my favourite shows growing up.😂
The rubbery heads on the street sharks figures was from a point of articulation on the dorsal fin with allowed for a "chomping" action although that one doesn't appear to have one so who knows 😂
Bullseye Troll comes with a speedboat and a caravan. Smashing.
STREET SHARKS!!! Wow haven’t seen those since the actual 90s
Same!!! I remember those back in the day :)
That lord dread guy is pretty dope. The chrome is really pleasing.
Pirates of Dark Water, that's unlocked some core memories for me
This video was great, I love when you get the nostalgia out, I remember the shark toys but biker mice from Mars were the real deal, would love to see you review the classic zoids
OH, I had that same Street Shark toy as a kid. They never bought me Ken dolls, so he was always the male character in my games haha.
This was beautiful, can't wait to hear about the Robin Hood figures.
7:59 more like 'Kang the Impossibru guy'
Wow i just came across this video on my recommended, i used to watch your videos throughout my elementary years, im 20 years old now and it makes me happy seeing u still doing videos, u were a big part of my childhood man 🙌
I actually have a complete set of the the 4 main Street Sharks, Rox, Moby Lick and Manta Man. They were my brother's when he still collected action figures but I kept them since I like to collect stuff like this.
Fun fact about Captain Power, it’s actually the first place to mention Babylon 5. One of the heroes says he got his cyborg bits there.
Captain Power is from 1987...Babylon 5 is from 1995....Straczynski also wrote Spider-man One More Day/Brand New day and the only good episodes of The Real Ghostbusters before the hot garbage 3rd season and beyond....
@@lutherheggs451 This is correct. Babylon 5 was mentioned in Captain Power long before it was its own show. Presumably Stracynski either had the base of the idea even then, or he just reused the name..
I forgot that I liked Ashens. I’ve been binging his old food videos, some of my favorite videos from the old UA-cam.
@@witchwaynow7572 yep
3:58 This toy was used in alot of promos for the Boomeraction block on Boomerang. And for years I never knew where it was from until now.
Bullseye looks like something they let out of a cave after Lars fails to save the trolls from invaders
All these years, watching your channel, still keep watching.....
Lars the Protector looks like someone you'd be completely demolished by in dark souls PvP
Troll Ninja....blimey I thought it was Howard Jones!😂
I used to watch Captain Power when I was a kid, I loved the bird robot. I always see the action figures at flea markets and such
I had that knock off batman in the 80s! Unfortunately the wings tear very easily and mine ended up with horribly torn wings. It's very old and even more interesting is the wings are intact
I remember Lord Dredd and Pirates of Darkwater!!!
You have the same couch after all these years ! Amazing
the street sharks were MINT!! Blades was always my favourite.
The one pink haired troll's face reminds me of one of the creatures one of the skexis has trapped in their laboratory. Or maybe one of the goblins in Labrynth. I can't remember.
Yeah it was the beyonder.
He later came to earth.
Everyone thought he said he was from Bayonne, New Jersey.
The first Troll Warrior looks like he's holding something in.....
I also had that Street Shark as a kid!
Hairy Snake Man’s face actually looks like Adam West.
Noi G'tat! It's Bloth!
Pirates of Darkwater was good.
Stuart, those Rustlers bbq rib things are 1.65 at Sainsburys right now!
Whip round for some Tessco gin and I believe you're on to something there.
