Thanks for a very helpful video :-). I've had my car since 2500 miles and looking very closely at its service record, and I think my filter was replaced at the first service, and never again in the next 50,000 miles despite being "properly" serviced by franchise dealers or specialist garages. Do they simply not bother with this job??? Glad I can now do it myself!
One thing I did notice when I did this job after watching your video is that my trim panel was also held in place by a large plastic "hook" moulded into the back of the panel. I say "was" because unfortunately it broke off during removal! I can't see that hook anywhere in your video, so I wonder if yours was already broken off? In fact, at various places in the video, I think I can see the slightly "ragged" hole in the panel where this would have been, so someone has been in there previously on your car? Even more so, when I look at secondhand examples of this part online, they all have the hook broken off too!
Hopefully the hook is not needed, but worth watching out for for other people doing this job...

You are absolutely right about the hook. Mine broke off don’t this job and my wife’s car was done at the dealers about 2 months later… i found the hook on the floor mat a couple of days later 🙈. I suspect if this job was easier it wouldn’t be overlooked by as many people?
Glad you found the video helpful though👍

Easy to see why they don’t get changed on yearly basis.

It is a great design in the factory when putting the dashboard together but sadly once in the car….
Seems to be a problem all manufacturers have 🤔

Great Video - do you know how to find the evaporator temp sensor? I've been told its either passenger side or driver side - but I can't for the life of me find the connector. This is for a RHD 213. realise this is a bit off topic but if you have any pointers would be great!!

    • @jond4475

Just found this... for anyone interested its almost inaccessible, but is passenger side (for a RHD). Turns out I had a loose connection, managed to take out the Evap sensor and test with multimeter, and then connect back and put in place. for anyone looking at this video its just behind (and above) out of sight, of the two aluminium silver looking pipes (5mins 45 on the video) - these are on the right of the video - in fact these block your view of the connector... but there should be a small white connector which attaches to the evap senor. again that's hidden out of sight behind the the two pipes. to see it you'll have to be looking up in the car well. I found it easier to attach the evap to cable out of position and then put it back in the hole. Very very fiddly. But at least I now have cold AC again!!

You answered your own question! 😂😂 also worth checking the fan “sensor” in the overhead console. Mine had a faulty code and my clima kept varying in temperature. Anyway i took the console apart and the circuit board had water damage (sunroof??). Cleaned it all up with alcohol and now running perfectly at whatever temperature i set it at 👌

😤 not difficult but does require a degree of dexterity and patience. That said being 6’3” doesn’t really help squeezing into tight places! Maybe with the car on a lift and working at head it might be easier?

There is a large plastic hook at the back of the plastic panel housing, use a long screwdriver to unclip this panel. I defy any anyone to get this back into place without breaking the hook. What a poor design for servicing the cabin filter 😅

I can confirm neither of my cars have the hook any more. Even Merc broke the one on my wife’s car!
