I support you 100% Paul and totally agree with all you have said throughout this vid. Too many people, especially the younger generations have no idea what it takes to make content and how much work goes into it. To then block a 5 second ad just seems ridiculous to me. ever since I first started watching you, I have always got a feeling that you are a "normal" bloke and a friendly guy who honestly loves what he does. You're not out to rip people off and you have always been transparent in everything you have done. I for one will watch any ads you throw at me and will continue with my monthly Twitch payments into old age or for as long as you are streaming. As a musician I can appreciate every single thing you said and although our art forms are different I believe the work that goes into each form is comparable. Keep up the good work and don't let any of the "boo boys" get you down.
1 problem you get is fools who have limited knowledge of what damage can be done through an ad that isn't monitored by anyone. thus is why popup blockers exist today.. you only complain when your system crashes when a virus happens because someone embeds something into the ad that damages your computer..
Squirrel, your truck has a 480 hp engine, the model number on Benz trucks tells you the Max weight and the HP, in your case a 2648 is a 26 ton, 480 HP truck.
+Loek The main difference between the Antos and Actros, and really most of the other manufacturers between the larger and smaller size trucks is really in the cab. Really the Actros is just the premium model, and far more suited to long haul. in most cases there isn't that much difference in their ability to pull cargo. Although being the more expensive model, the Actros does have some higher hp engine options. But this is nothing to do Weight limits which are defined by law and mostly comes down to the number of axles you have. a 4x2 can only carry 18 tonnes, it doesn't matter how big it is, or if it has a 1000hp engine. The law still says its only able to carry 18 tonnes. which is why the Actros in question starts with 18. If you go up to a 6x2 or 6x4 the number will change to 26.
I am a Pennsylvania person who enjoys listening to you talk in your British way. Your like a person who can keep anyone company. Sometimes you are funny. Also, it's neat to see how the ways you have to learn how to handle traffic and situations along the way as you travel.
... That was really a clear, concise, and brilliantly simple explanation. Thank you. If I didn't already allow ads to show on your channel, I would have started after hearing that. Honestly, I think your channel is one of the best on YT. I love it, and I hope it sticks around for a long time. Cheers.
Squirrel, writing a comment on UA-cam is like a review on Amazon.. people are only really likely to comment when they have something negative to say while the majority of others continue to enjoy your content without saying a thing. Using me as an example, been watching your videos for ages happily enjoying them (without AB) and never commented. keep well dude!
Paul, I totally understand what you are saying. I always watch the advertising at the start of your videos, a few seconds of my time is the least I can do for the hours you put into making, editing, and uploading your content. Keep up the good work, love the Euro Truck videos!
Totally agree with you, it doesn't bother me skipping ads after 5 or 7 seconds sometimes I watch them all the way through if they interest me I don't understand some people. Always luv your vids, know you have to make a living. Using most of the ETS 2 mods from your site such a great help. :)
adblock is not the problem. I fully understand that ads are the way people make money. ads are not the problem, the problem is how the ads are presented. If I have to close numerous popups before I can get to the content, if there is an overlay over the content that I have to close, if ads are designed to look like stuff I want, just downloading the promods maps, problem is the download buttons did not get me the maps but a dodgy .exe file and possibly malware. adblock is the solution to a problem created by content providers. I'm happy to whitelist your channel and others, just tell me how
to answer your question at minute 35. No, I did not see an ad before this video, however, in the 9 minutes between this post and my previous one I whitelisted your channel since I enjoy watching the videos and would like to see more in the future
I watch all of the ads for all channels, just to support... You can watch a ad and open a other window and watch your facebbok for a few seconds and then go back and watch the movie, you have supported the producer and you can now enjoy the vid... that is how I do it...
actually i did something different,i put addblocks on all pages, except youtube, because i would rather skip a ad,then to get un unskippable (which i noticed that it was implemented already)
Just a few things here, I don't want to offend you but you've offended me: 1) The advertiser doesn't pay for the first 5 seconds of the video, so after it's skipped no money is charged. 2) AdBlock is a "problem" because the way advertising works is the problem. AdBlock is a response to the way advertising is being displayed through UA-cam, Google, and other websites. 3) The way adverts work is by placing a file on your computer which is then opened by various other websites, recording my browsing habits. That's an invasion of privacy right there, and AdBlock stops that. (Note: "Do Not Track/Follow" mode in some browsers only work if the website bothers to adhere to it). It's for this reason, and this reason only, I chose to use AdBlock on my browser, and I won't whitelist sites for that reason as well. 4) Don't worry about Google and their ad revenue from UA-cam. Their money comes from Google AdWords and PPC's, not through watching a 30 second video. Ultimately the way content is being consumed is changing. Advertising on a video worked when everyone got their kicks from TV and you couldn't skip them, but these days everything is on demand. It's wrong to blame people who use AdBlock for privacy reason (I'm one of them) for your ad revenue being down etc. You are relying on a dying form of monitisation, and I honestly feel you are in the mindset that you still have 5,000 subscribers. You have over 344,000 subscribers, you are beyond the point of relying on in video advertising. There is Patreon and other pay-for services like you mentioned, and if only 20,000 subscribers out of the 344,000 paid £2 over the course of a year thats a turnover of £40,000. That's above the average wage in the UK, although this doesn't take in to account fees etc. I'm not against you making money, and turning a hobby in to a living. But you are wrong to blame AdBlockers for your fall in revenue when you haven't diversified your revenue streams, and you have the fan base to do that now. Give me and the people who watch your content another way of providing payment for the content, do not label us as the reason you're losing money.
Yes for privacy reasons. I don't mute the adverts on TV or watch BBC all the time to avoid adverts. That's how advertising works on the internet, and I don't want my computer to be tracked or my viewing habbits monitored. If there is a manual for the internet, read it.
+Alexander Eriksen Says the 8 year old fanboy. How would you like it if you were blamed for something you didn't do? Squirrel is "blaming" all the Adblockers and only them, when it clearly isn't just their fault. Note the "just" there, I'm not saying that they are completely innocent, but there are other factors too.
Paul, I have never even used adblock. And after watching this video, I will never even consider adblock. I really love watching your videos and fully understand the importance of adverts. I always take 5-6 seconds out of my time to watch an advert at the beginning and end, and I don't have a problem with that. I really appreciate the work you are doing. I hope the advert revenue builds up eventually. Take care and God bless!
Enjoyed your non preachy description of ad blocking. I was guilty of cutting it after seven seconds but I am from now on going to watch the entire video add to support you. Thanks for all that you do.
I think there is a big problem More people use ad-block, it means there are some problem with ads Forcing people to watch ads doesn't solve the problem The problem is how ad are implemented and displayed. I think we need a change for the ad industry, and a totally new way to make both party happy For me, I use ad-block, but I also selectively disable for certain channel
+Chan Sheung Long any way to do that automatically? There's probably a greasemonkey script.. I always thought this was a good compromise for the channels you really want to support.
+josso1 I use Adguard, you can use the whitelist function. Also, try using Private Browsing at the background while watching video, it show the ads but wont annoy me.
An hour long video full of ETS2? Mate, you're back! And about the adverts, if there are too many adverts, no matter who's fault it is, I'm simply not going to watch them. Remember that AdBlock developers will still find a way if they want to. But if I notice that it'll be reasonable, I'll disable AdBlock for your channel. It's as simple as that. And let me remind you how good your quality is: It's holding me back from quarreling about the poor frequency of your videos. I'll leave it to that.
I generally have people I support in two browsers. One with adblock and one without. I mute the one with ads and have it play in the background. Play both at the same time, but watch the one without ads.
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) One time when I was using UA-cam there was ads everywhere! Down the side, above the recommended videos list, in the videos. And it was those stupid and ugly ads about weight loss. I just said "F*** you UA-cam" and got AdBlock, but as soon as I found out I could whitelist channels I've done it for all of my favourites.
Paul, I have never even used adblock. And after watching this video, I will never even consider adblock. I always take 5-6 seconds out of my time to watch an advert at the beginning and end, and I don't have a problem with that. I really appreciate the work you are doing. I hope the advert revenue builds up eventually. Take care and God bless!
I don't use adblock, just want to put that out there first. Saying 'I don't want to preach' - then proceeding to tell you how good you've got it as a viewer for an hour isn't the way to win people round. Art and artists gets brought up in this vid and I think that's the problem - you're getting paid to do something that most people do purely for fun (as you did too at one point) and it's very easy when talking about this kind of thing to come across as entitled, especially when this topic could've been covered in 5-10 minutes instead of 60.
I actually got to meet Squirrel at TwitchCon. He gave me one of his business cards. He also tweeted a picture of us when I told him that I was one of his Twitch subscribers. It was so awesome!
Great to see ETS back on the channel Paul :) I start my articulated hgv training a week today so this is perfect inspiration haha. Agree with a lot of drivers not understanding trucks n coaches need more rooms. Discovered that a lot doing the 1st part of my hgv training haha!!
The numbers on a Mercedes do correspond to the engine horsepower. The four numbers tell you what the GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is for the truck and the engine horsepower. For example that Antos is a 2645, meaning that it has a 26 tonne GVM and 450 horsepower. The same as a 3253 has a 32 tonne GVM and 530 horsepower.
i'm not gonna lie i use(d) adblock but after this video i disabled it for youtube so hopefully i can start to make a difference for youtubers without them i had nothing on boring days and i mean whats just 30 seconds? if you watch tv you see way more ads so i stopped it and i respect that they need money to live as well
***** thank you haha i think that people should just those 30 seconds or so to watch that little video that makes a difference for others, yes i used it before but i didnt know this
Amazing video Squirrel, I'm glad someone took on this problem and tried to clear things out so people can understand. I think everyone using UA-cam should watch this video. Thank you Squirrel!!!
Where I agree that its not good that your revenue is down for me to make money I go to work in customer service and help other out with their problems for 9 hours a day. You know what I did this sunday? I was at work at 7 to make money. I started watching youtube along time ago, when there were no adverts. The moment they arrived it was ruined. I love your content Paul, I watch it all, but Im not going to sit threw adverts if I can avoid it. I work too hard to have to do that. Yours truly Leo.
I'm just going to say that I've been watching you for about three years now, and I've never used adblock on your channel. Not only that, I enjoy all of your content, well mostly simulations but yeah loved the video! :)
After watching this video, I first realized how clever I was avoiding adblock. This video was really an eye-opener, as long as you have a normal-ish way of common sence
When the adds only was before the video I didn't use addblock but then they started to put adds in the middle of the fucking video like it is on TV and that is when I installed addblock, I hove no problem with watching a add before the video but when it starts to pause in the middle to put a add in it starts to get frustrating! I get that addblock is starting to be a problem but google consider to tone the adds down a little people would not be forced to use addblock.
+MrSyltburken don't you know that English is the one true language and you should be speaking it properly at all times? This is your first and only warning. God help you if I ever see you misspell something again.
I have never used adblock and would never consider it. I have always understood that ads are how you content providers make your money. I appreciate what you and others do and I enjoy watching it. As the saying goes 'What you get for nothing is nothing' and ads are how I pay you. A question, what impact does the 'Skip ad' button have on your revenue? What I would say is that Google have not done a good enough job of explaining how ads fund the content providers. UA-cam has a vast audience - old/young; educated/uneducated etc.. Some people need to be told.
Enjoyed this - I have no problem with 5 sec ads - a lot of people are very immature & have loads of basics to learn about how the world works - keep up the inspiring content
I guess it is back to FireFox so I can continue to block spam, cause I hate spam with a passion. It's everywhere nowadays and it drives me mad if I don't block it. I mean you get adverts in/on... the mail, email, telephone, mobile texts, TV, radio, on the street, behind your cars windshield, on webpages, in online videos, in bought physical movies, in games, in streams ...and I probably still missed some sources. Can you blame a person for blocking this constant repeating (in various forms) of spam, the constant annoying barrage of useless information trying to indoctrinate you to buy something you don't even need? Sorry, Squirrel. I still think... adblock for the win. Our desires just conflict in this and I am not a nice enough guy to budge on it.
+Illusionary I know, but I just had issues with Firefox at some point that made me switch at the time to Safari at first (had a lot of Apple products at that time) and later to Chrome. In the past I usually had most generic webbrowsers installed as I tinkered with webdevelopment a bit, so I am familiar with the pros and cons of each. I just got stuck with Chrome out of convinience I guess.
Hey Squirrel. I've never used Adblock and never will. I have no problem watching ads for channels which provide great entertainment and add some fun into my day. I'll make sure to watch, in full, ads at the start and end of your channel to try and keep you in nuts! I'm sure Nut House members will do our best to help where we can. Keep up the great work!
Great video. Thanks for your great efforts as usual. Also thanks for explaining how the whole youtube thing works. Just for the record, I don't ad block, nor do I usually skip ads. As you stated, it is a small price to pay for watching some incredible scenery!!!
He squirrel, you are completely right. I watch this on an iPhone. On some vids I see ads, on some vids I don't. If i see ads, most of the time i watch the whole ad. I only skip after a few seconds if the add is longer than a few minutes.
I'm OK with the ads. Don't particularly enjoy them, but I understand it's how this service works. To me it's no different than watching TV. Thanks for the entertainment Squirrel.
An hour long video by Squirrel, In this advert he explains that he's not getting enough money from UA-cam, and can we watch more adverts to help him fill his pockets :-) Don't hate me, I tell it like it is.
Phillip Larkis you really are an idiot. People like you think that you should get everything on this site for free. You have absolutely no clue how much time it takes to make content. God forbid someone should want to make a living! Absolutely nothing to do with filling his pockets you absolute weed
Your channel and content is brilliant Paul keep up the good work. And for the cost of a 2 min ad for a 40-60 min vid is great value. I do not agree with ad block so always watch the whole ad. Keep ya chin up and keep the good work up x
If only we had more people like you in the world. talk sense, no rubbish and understand everyone's point of view. I don't understand why people won't sit for 30 seconds when watching a 30 minute video.
Advertisers pay UA-cam to display their ads on/within the videos (Video or banners ads) and then UA-cam splits this revenue with the original producer of the video. This is regardless if ad-block is on or off.It only affects you getting paid out if they dont watch ads on your channel.UA-cam still get paid. Theres kids waking up every morning hungry now thats important. But glad you had a good whinge. Its about freedom of choice, youtube is not a life or death situation nor is watching people playing games. Having the internet and playing on computers is classed as a luxury. Google can stop users with ad-block but good coders will be able to bypass it. I love watching this channel and enjoy pauls comments but adds as i say is a choice.
My main purpose for using adblock is for when I'm roaming about on a random site looking for info to a problem I can't solve myself, I don't want their crappy pop-ups thinking they've got free reign to install malware and other junk onto my computer. Aside from that anyone and everyone I support that provides my entertainment is white listed. I don't have cable tv and don't miss cable tv, so all the people who's content has replaced my cable tv here on you tube deserves their revenue from my ad views. Aside from my stated use above, I think a lot of it is having an ad tossed into your face that isn't even remotely related to what you're watching. I've had an instance where I was watching another you tuber who posts gaming videos and I was assaulted by two ads one after the other that were for a Chevy Silverado and one related to the super bowl. I'm watching a person play video games, how does an ad for a pickup truck and football even relate to what he's posted? Now, if they did what two of my favorite Tech-Tubers do when it comes to ads then I'd purposely watch the ads because I want to not because I have to. They advertise their sponsors product in a way that makes you actually want to watch the ad. Plus their ads are based on stuff related to their channels. Not some random crud Google is trying to cram down your throat to get that one extra cent off you.
Another option that I like is to open the video, don't skip the add, go off and make a cup of coffee and come back and scroll the video back to the beginning. That way youtube thinks you watched the full add and the creator gets the most money they can.
The problem for me isn't seeing ads. Doesn't bother me driving past billboards on the motorway or on the internet. But remember the latest balls-up by Google's Ad network earlier in the year that allowed remote code injection from malicious ads they allowed on their network? Screw that noise. Plenty of money for Google to mess around with self driving cars but they can't use their billions to secure their network properly. So I'll secure mine. uBlock Origin now shows me there is 12 different domains trying to load their crap on this page right now. No. Also as a subscriber on Twitch, and someone who sends in deliveries semi-regular I imagine I've added more to your income directly than the 20 UA-cam views you have got from me this year. And I will continue to sub and send deliveries. I will continue to donate to other youtubers and streamers that I enjoy either directly or via their Patreon, like how I also will chuck a few quid to devs of any FOSS software I use on a daily basis. When people like Steve Gibson, one of the foremost experts on internet security (www.grc.com/securitynow.htm) and also someone who is part of podcast network that relies on ad revenue says that he'll block ads by default because of how insecure and open to abuse the ad networds are (not to mention how much faster websites load without loading in code from 10+ different sources) then I will sit up and take notice - and I'll happily pay directly for content (via patreon, twitch subs/donation) as well as block potentially insecure elements from websites. Get a patreon up, and I'll be one of the first to go in £5 a month on top of twitch but no way will I be trusting these ad networks on my PCs. All the best with #YOTS
funny enough, I clicked on this video and then made a cup of coffee whilst the advert was running, but they do need to change their advertisement so if I'm watching a type of game, a advert of a popular new game should be on it
A content creator doesn’t choose to have an un skippable ad. It is a randomised system. So basically you'd be better disliking every single video you watch.
that's exactly NOT what you should do, this is one of the reasons why youtube is getting f*cked up, it's because people like you don't understand the concept of liking and disliking a video.
Kraig Bit of a late reply but the channel along with the partner, as Squirrel said in the video, has full control of whether the ad can be skipped or not.
Have no issue with having ads in your videos. amazing content and amazing streams. I'm happy to give you a few minutes of my time for the huge amount of time it's takes to prepare, record and edit your videos. keep up the amazing work :)
I used to use adblock. You chose to exclude an entire website from adblock, so I excluded UA-cam and Twitch, blacklisting a select few channels that played unskippable ads, so all of youtube was with ads, exept for a few channels. I recently purged my computer from all browsers, rebuilt my OS and don't have to use adblock anymore, because I was having a annoying ad problem (pop ups all over my screen probably because of virus) that is now gone. That was why I installed adblock. And for your honesty, I have to say I applaud your courage to talk that free to us.
Squirrel, no matter what others say, you are one of the best UA-camrs I know - you are interesting, intelligent and informative. Do not let others bring you down. Keep up the good work.
I am so glad you explained about skipping and ad blocking, I was under the impression that you got played as long as the ad showed up. I will not in the futer skip adds because I subscribe to several you tube guys. cheers and good luck
I will be honest here I use the Ad Block + extension and you are completely reasonable. I didn't know (or didn't want to hear) how much blocking ads hurts your income. You worked hard to do UA-cam full time and we (and I) owe you for the content you make. You convinced me to uninstall my blocker. Cheers and keep up the great work!
Another great vid Squirrel. Loving the Merc mod and the ferry GG lol. For the record, I do run adblock but when watching you and other youtubers that I watch regularly, I load the vid on my phone with the volume turned down and let the ad play out, prior to watching the content so the ad is in effect still played
Paul, first of all to comment today I have had to create this so I want you to know what you said in this video certainly gave me something to think about. I don't use any Adblock but I was starting to consider it. Now however not at all! You clearly work hard to put out top quality videos and entertain us and teach us every time so you deserve your reward. On to your videos themselves... They're the best. I only have one issue.... When reversing in ETS please use your hazard lights and before you move the vehicle sound your horn (daylight hours only) .... Seems like a silly thing to do but a large vehicle reversing or manoeuvring around a site is a hazard and the horn attracts attention from the people that would otherwise miss you. Please keep up the good work.
hey squirrel before watching this video i hated ads I mean I understood they where important to people who make videos but listening to you it made me realise that ads are how people make there money and how they keep there channel running I wanna say thanks to you and keep making these awesome euro trucks vids always cheers me up watching your videos especially when your having a rant 😉
Paul, I have never even used adblock. And after watching this video, I will never even consider adblock. I really love watching your videos and fully understand the importance of adverts. I always take 5-6 seconds out of my time to watch an advert at the beginning and end, and I don't have a problem with that. I really appreciate the work you are doing, otherwise I wouldn't be a subscriber to your channel. I hope the advert revenue builds up eventually. Take care and God bless!
I use Adblock only for security purposes so therefore I usually don't use it on any video. However the chrome change actually doesn't affect blocking ads in the network level with a router Adblock.
Paul I completely agree with your reasoning, and to be honest I don't use Adblock at all and I don't skip your ads on UA-cam because I don't ins watching them. :) and I'm one of those people who understands that you earn profit of ads. And we'll just like you said that's how the world works. :)
Paul, I will always support you no matter what. I'm sorry I cant always make a donation but I will always do whatever I need to support you and your family. Hope the ad situation gets better soon. Keep up the great work Paul :D
Let's not forget the simple fact that you can get all this great media content based on exactly what you're particular interests are for free! And self absorbed people can't be bothered to watch a 30 second commercial?! love the content Squirrel, and always look forward to more. Much good blessings on your health issues from your longtime subscriber.
Paul you're talking about Vessel good service. Also Paul I'll be honest I haven't been watching you're videos in the last few months and I'm sorry about that but when I do watch anyone of you're videos I'm always happy to watch the video from start to finish the only downside is that I watch'em on my PlayStation 3 and can not comment on them. Finally the work that you put into everyone of you're videos can be over looked but thank you for the time and effort that you put in them and I'm grateful that you do.
Bypassing the ad-blockers on Chrome is only going to take browser share away from Google. Firefox and Edge (soon with extensions) would no doubt love that. In regards to UA-cam, if ad-blocking is such a big problem they should add an option for channel owners to disable videos when ads can't run for some reason. In any case, you are have been and always will be white-listed over here.
I have Ad block turned off for UA-cam. It doesn't cost us any thing to watch them and at least they can be skipped a few seconds in. Can't really complain about it really, as you would have to watch a lot more ads to watch a 1 hour TV program which is actually only about 45 minutes excluding the ads. Keep up the great videos.
I'd always run adblock, but after listening to Paul talk about it, I'm whitelisting his channel. I get many hours of enjoyment watching him and listening to him. There's no reason why I can't watch a short ad then skip it to help him out.
I'm glad you explained the ads situation because I don't block ads but I always block them but if it's gives you and other you tubers a decent amount of money from each ad I will watch it all the way through.
This video really made me re think how I use ad block. So I'm going exclude ad's for youtube but some sites are plagued with ad's. Really informative video squirrel !
Yet another great video there Paul, I have only just discovered your channel, by far the best vids to watch very informative and very addictive. i don't mind the ads what's 5-7 secs like you say. I will continue to support your channel in the future. (Happy trucking)
You're bang on Squirrel. It takes a lot a time and effort to make videos. It's not like they make their selves . A little advert don't hurt anyone... Good job man.
Hey Paul: It's great to see you back with some ETS2 video's on Your channel, I've have missed them this kind of video's where you drive and tell about all kind of things. Keep up the good kob and keep on truckin. I'll see you on the road.
wait a moment! you mean if I skip the ad in 5 seconds you would get less than if I watch the whole thing??? then I won't skip them from now on coz you and some other youtubers really keep me entertained and I think u really deserve that extra 25 seconds and even more keep up the good work mate & give us more flight sim content plz....
I try to watch the whole ad when I have the chance... I don't use ad-block (obviously). I'm grateful that there's a system via which we can get such a good quality content "for free". Having the ads pay for the UA-camr's work. I think it's a great model we should protect and help grow. Even if that means watching a minute an a half ad once in a while. Hell, go get a drink or a snack. My 2 cents. (figuratively ;)
Much later - but Thank You Squirrel. I naively assumed that income was earned mostly from sponsorships and the ads didn't make a difference to content providers. I have now disabled AdBlock for all of UA-cam. I'll be telling my friends to do the same. Great message sir!
+Paul Hayward If I could thumbs up more then I would have done.
Squirrel I speak the truth mate. Keep it up and see you Saturday 😀
Totally understand Paul, keep doing what you are doing adblockers will understand one day. :)
wow its qwertyafro one of my fave youtubers
1 problem you get is fools who have limited knowledge of what damage can be done through an ad that isn't monitored by anyone.
thus is why popup blockers exist today..
you only complain when your system crashes when a virus happens because someone embeds something into the ad that damages your computer..
Funny enough adblock is (at least on Google Chrome) is owned by Google, which owns youtube
Squirrel, your truck has a 480 hp engine, the model number on Benz trucks tells you the Max weight and the HP, in your case a 2648 is a 26 ton, 480 HP truck.
+Guðni Már Leifsson Very useful!
The smaller Antos weighs 26 tons and the bigger Actros weighs 18 tons? Ok.
1 year later... adblock still blocking youtube ads on google chrome :P

Keep up the good work, love the Euro Truck videos!
just been checking ur PC specs did you not get to keep the sli 980tis ? u reviewed
+Instinct Yes he did, Squirrel just hasn't found the time to update it.
You can watch a ad and open a other window and watch your facebbok for a few seconds and then go back and watch the movie, you have supported the producer and you can now enjoy the vid...
that is how I do it...
and wondering, if i refresh the video i get an add, do you get revenue from that?
+owl “1080p” gamer Yes I did that twice throughout this video.
on ps4 if you keep on backing out on a video that has ads you'll get sign out of your UA-cam account.
You are one of the best creators on UA-cam. You're channel is so much better for sims than most other channels.
actually i did something different,i put addblocks on all pages, except youtube, because i would rather skip a ad,then to get un unskippable (which i noticed that it was implemented already)
Just a few things here, I don't want to offend you but you've offended me:
1) The advertiser doesn't pay for the first 5 seconds of the video, so after it's skipped no money is charged.
+Michael Burke Yeah, for Privacy reasons? Give me a fucking break, dude
Yes for privacy reasons. I don't mute the adverts on TV or watch BBC all the time to avoid adverts. That's how advertising works on the internet, and I don't want my computer to be tracked or my viewing habbits monitored. If there is a manual for the internet, read it.
Youre just plain stupid you know that
+Alexander Eriksen Says the 8 year old fanboy. How would you like it if you were blamed for something you didn't do? Squirrel is "blaming" all the Adblockers and only them, when it clearly isn't just their fault. Note the "just" there, I'm not saying that they are completely innocent, but there are other factors too.
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) dafuq you on about
I feel like this video was good for you to get a load of things off your chest, good job squirrel :) enjoyed this.
Im not using adblock but what did youtube do before the ads came?
They made money on generating traffic...
Enjoyed your non preachy description of ad blocking. I was guilty of cutting it after seven seconds but I am from now on going to watch the entire video add to support you. Thanks for all that you do.
I think there is a big problem
More people use ad-block, it means there are some problem with ads
Forcing people to watch ads doesn't solve the problem
The problem is how ad are implemented and displayed.
I think we need a change for the ad industry, and a totally new way to make both party happy
For me, I use ad-block, but I also selectively disable for certain channel
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) Paul will appreciate that - I have done the same for YT also google :)
I generally have people I support in two browsers. One with adblock and one without. I mute the one with ads and have it play in the background. Play both at the same time, but watch the one without ads.
niceley said👌
+Aristotelis Mitsiou (tkk7406) One time when I was using UA-cam there was ads everywhere! Down the side, above the recommended videos list, in the videos. And it was those stupid and ugly ads about weight loss. I just said "F*** you UA-cam" and got AdBlock, but as soon as I found out I could whitelist channels I've done it for all of my favourites.
IanRM Look who's talking...
The time of the adds is less than the time to click on like and take a look at the description
+chippygavo me too
It takes you 30 seconds to a minute to click on something?
Great to see ETS back on the channel Paul :) I start my articulated hgv training a week today so this is perfect inspiration haha. Agree with a lot of drivers not understanding trucks n coaches need more rooms. Discovered that a lot doing the 1st part of my hgv training haha!!
do ads work if you watch the videos on a phone?
+Japopo yes
Yes
+Japopo videos do but popups dont
I respect you, squirrel. I respect every youtuber and that's why I always watch all the ads, even if it's skipable.
"I won't get all preachy"
40 minutes later
The numbers on a Mercedes do correspond to the engine horsepower. The four numbers tell you what the GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is for the truck and the engine horsepower. For example that Antos is a 2645, meaning that it has a 26 tonne GVM and 450 horsepower. The same as a 3253 has a 32 tonne GVM and 530 horsepower.
i'm not gonna lie i use(d) adblock but after this video i disabled it for youtube so hopefully i can start to make a difference for youtubers without them i had nothing on boring days and i mean whats just 30 seconds? if you watch tv you see way more ads so i stopped it and i respect that they need money to live as well
i'm not really a creator but i respect the time they put into it and if i can show that by not using adblock then i'll do that Des Stewart
+Des Stewart I myself use adblock all over internet, but not on UA-cam and Twitch.
Guess this will be our SNT for the week! Like if you think so too
After watching this video, I first realized how clever I was avoiding adblock.
Sorry that English isn't my first language no need to be a dick about it :/
+MrSyltburken don't you know that English is the one true language and you should be speaking it properly at all times? This is your first and only warning. God help you if I ever see you misspell something again.
***** I'm just busting balls
+FunsterProductions " i only replied to i person.." dude learn to spell.
JML adverts are the only good ones
+andrew gray lol
+LogiForce86 You took the words right out of my mouth... or keyboard, in that case :-)
There will always be a solution/fix around of those ad stuff.
Adverts are ruling our world.. they are everywere!
Great video. Thanks for your great efforts as usual. Also thanks for explaining how the whole youtube thing works. Just for the record, I don't ad block, nor do I usually skip ads. As you stated, it is a small price to pay for watching some incredible scenery!!!
You didnt have the right of way. you pulled on onto his side of the road
He squirrel, you are completely right. I watch this on an iPhone. On some vids I see ads, on some vids I don't. If i see ads, most of the time i watch the whole ad. I only skip after a few seconds if the add is longer than a few minutes.
i have adblock but whitelisted the whole youtube-page cuse of you :P
+Adventure cause
+Adventure bullshit
+TheMineCraftNerd please, shut up
I'm OK with the ads. Don't particularly enjoy them, but I understand it's how this service works. To me it's no different than watching TV. Thanks for the entertainment Squirrel.
Squirrel the builder CAN YOU FIX IT squirrel the builder YES YOU CAN,!!
Lol
No it's fucked!
+christos Kofteros He's playing ETS2, you might want to say that when there's Construction Simulator
+Micheal Murphy lol you said its fucked
I just want to say I support you 100% about adverts that's why I watch them all the way through
An hour long video by Squirrel, In this advert he explains that he's not getting enough money from UA-cam, and can we watch more adverts to help him fill his pockets :-)
Don't hate me, I tell it like it is.
Phillip Larkis you really are an idiot. People like you think that you should get everything on this site for free. You have absolutely no clue how much time it takes to make content. God forbid someone should want to make a living! Absolutely nothing to do with filling his pockets you absolute weed
Good point Paul. Keep op the good work, i dont skip adverts, only if there are 5 or more
you should start patrion to get money!
+Pixeldon :P i am ending my add block.
Your channel and content is brilliant Paul keep up the good work. And for the cost of a 2 min ad for a 40-60 min vid is great value. I do not agree with ad block so always watch the whole ad. Keep ya chin up and keep the good work up x
Paul, you had me worried, I thought you were about to get all political about something
If only we had more people like you in the world. talk sense, no rubbish and understand everyone's point of view. I don't understand why people won't sit for 30 seconds when watching a 30 minute video.
Advertisers pay UA-cam to display their ads on/within the videos (Video or banners ads) and then UA-cam splits
this revenue with the original producer of the video.
I think the truck is great Paul. It's a unique truck that fits your unique ETS2 personality
Thanks for the talk Paul. I was thinking about all of this earlier, and this talk was exactly what i needed.
Quit complaining, you get free graphic cards....
All the best with #YOTS
funny enough, I clicked on this video and then made a cup of coffee whilst the advert was running, but they do need to change their advertisement so if I'm watching a type of game, a advert of a popular new game should be on it
if i can not skip the ad the video gets a dislike, every time.
+Mr SiR lmao
Bluey Macaw if that what it takes to make them all skipable.
I think your explanation of the advert situation is reasonable and I will watch the ad's from now on.
Adverts are fine with me. I'm glad to help the you tubers in any way I can. Some of the Australian adverts are quite funny as well.
Watched the full video Paul! I usally watch youtube on my tablet so there is no adblock. Loved the ETS2 video, automatically liked the video.
How do you look behind you with the TrackIR?
if you turned all the way around, surely you wouldn't be able to see the monitors any more?
Paul I completely agree with your reasoning, and to be honest I don't use Adblock at all and I don't skip your ads on UA-cam because I don't ins watching them. :) and I'm one of those people who understands that you earn profit of ads. And we'll just like you said that's how the world works. :)
Paul, I will always support you no matter what. I'm sorry I cant always make a donation but I will always do whatever I need to support you and your family. Hope the ad situation gets better soon. Keep up the great work Paul :D
To be honest, I've never seen adverts as a problem, so keep up the good work Paul
I do not mind watching an advert because I know the will always be a good video after it. I love watching you're videos paul
Awesome video Squirrel! I love your Euro Truck videos! Completely understand your explanation of how adds can help you
Hey Paul: It's great to see you back with some ETS2 video's on Your channel, I've have missed them this kind of video's where you drive and tell about all kind of things. Keep up the good kob and keep on truckin. I'll see you on the road.
wait a moment! you mean if I skip the ad in 5 seconds you would get less than if I watch the whole thing??? then I won't skip them from now on coz you and some other youtubers really keep me entertained and I think u really deserve that extra 25 seconds and even more
keep up the good work mate & give us more flight sim content plz....
Keep up the good work Paul. I greatly enjoy watching your videos, and dont mind at all sitting thru an ad.
I got the Antos mod today and it's so awesome! Thanks for featuring in a video :)
