Came back here to say I tried this as a fine haired oily scalp girl and it worked!!! I’m on day 3 which is such and accomplishment for me. I love never been able to make it past day 2 with success. Such a major accomplishment for me! Thank you
I always thought it was for super oily hair. Thank you so much for this! I always hated dry shampoo but i just realized I wasn’t using it right and I was using way to much
I just tried these tips out on freshly washed wavy/curly hair and can def see more volume! I realize now I was using way too much product & was weighing my curls down with it, lol. Now I know I just need a quick spritz at the root. Thank you! 🌈💗
I've been using dry shampoo to go longer between washes to make my purple hair last longer and this was a LIFESAVER since I was doing it all wrong. Thank you!!
You are so correct about training your hair to not be so oily. Washing every day is making your body renew the oil every day. When you start going a few days in between your hair will stop being so oily so soon.
I always apply dry shampoo the second day before I go to bed. I have super dark hair (roots) and found this way I get zero whitecast. It also helps with when it’s hit through the summer and my roots might get a bit damp. Spray it on, messy bun on top of my head and brush it out in the morning 😊
Absolutely love this video! So specific and straight to the point! This is why I love this channel! Her voice is therapeutic for me. Plus, I get more tips for my hair which I struggle with.
Thank you! I’m 57 and still have very oily hair. I keep hearing how wonderful dry shampoo is, but I haven’t known how to do it correctly and I’ve been using too much! I’m sure I’ll have much better results now.
Omg I happened to have the Kenra and thought I didn’t like it but I was USING IT WRONG. I used it (correctly) this morning on my super fine very thin but long hair and it made a big difference in the volume ! thank you ♥️
Okay so I had to come back to this video & tell you THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I thought I knew how to use dry shampoo but nope. You out here changing the hair game & peoples life’s lol 😂 seriously though I’ve noticed a huge difference with taking your advice!! I would love to see you do a dry shampoo powder video! I have one of those & not sure how to use it. Thank you so much again so glad I found you & your channel. Hope all is well beautiful!
Dry shampoo has been a life saver and so has your video!!!! Thank you so much. I have super long hair and it never last 2 days. Now it's last 4 to 5 days!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this video!! I've struggled with greasy hair for the longest time, and had gotten into the pattern of washing my hair every day. When I started losing my artificial highlight color, I realized that it was because of over-washing my hair. I just bought dry shampoo for the first time, and this video was very helpful to know what to do/what not to do!
Thank you for this, it was very helpful! I've also heard you should dry shampoo at night instead of the morning so it can set in your hair. What's your professional opinion on timing?
Lol that doesn't make any sense. How would it "set" any better at night vs in the morning? Plus, it really only takes a few seconds for it to absorb oil, so there isn't anything to set. I think there's no point in applying it at night, because then you'll just have great looking hair that you're about to sleep on ;)
@@styledbysamvay I actually find that applying it at night helps prevent any white cast in the morning because the dry shampoo has more time to dissipate before you have to go out. Although whether I use it in the morning or night I find that vigorously brushing my hair out after letting my dry shampoo sit & absorb anything for 5 minutes gets rid of any residue.
@@priscillanieto3322 same here! I feel applying at night helps the prevention thing Sam talked about, so that as the oils come out at night, the dry shampoo is already there to absorb. Also helps me use less rather than waiting for the morning.
Thanks for asking/answering this .. that’s all you see now on tiktok is people telling you to use at night instead .. I was wondering if this actually did anything .. thanks for the info :)
@@priscillanieto3322 you just want to be careful doing this if you don’t have really thick hair, because brushing like that could make the hair more oily!
Thank you for this! My hair gets oily by the end of the day or by day 2, dry shampoo helps but usually can only get 3 days. Def going to try it on clean hair!
Okay. My hair isn’t super oily but it gets flat because it’s STICK straight and shiny. I’ve been trying tons of dry shampoo… turns out it was user error. 😂 thank you for the tips!
Hello, may I ask do you use the dry shampoo the day after you washed your hair with normal shampoo? Or do you shower your hair with water and then apply the dry shampoo after it dried?
I don't like the tinted ones, because they don't usually match the hair perfectly, so you can still see it. Just do short bursts at a time and hold it far away and don't apply it directly to your part, like I showed in the video, and you won't get a white cast.
Thank you! I kept trying drug store brands that everyone raved about and swore there wasn't any whitecast and I would still always get it. :( I thought it was my hair and because my hair is brown. I've been forking over big bucks for the pricey stuff but can't afford it any more! So happy I found your video!
Im using Battiste for brunettes!! Can t live whitout! Im spraying after im washing& styling my hair. I can go 3 days, which is woooow for me - I used to wash it every day🥺
I’ve been using this for years and I personally love it, however I just saw that NYM has had problems with certain ingredients it has. An independent lab testing report from Valisure Nov’22 found that NYM contains over 10 times the recommended amount of benzene.. isobutane and propane which are on the label, May be contaminated with benzene . Did you happen to hear anything about that?
How do you deal with the non washing of working out/exercising? 😅 I have been using dry shampoo and not washing everyday, but sometimes I feel like it’s necessary after a workout
I bought 3 types of dry shampoo from Not your Mother’s and the best one is the blue texturizing shampoo, but you do get some buildup. The purple body building is just meh and the clean freak tapioca smells like warm vanilla (so good!) but has the worst performance. I have to use a lot for them to work decently well. I prefer Batiste as it’s very potent and you don’t need much. The white cast is a plus as I know where and how much I used, and since I apply at night the cast is gone by morning. Mind you, I only do my part as most of my hair thinning is on the top of my head. If you want the max effect leave the dry shampoo alone and do not work it in your scalp! If you really need to use a comb instead.
Great tips. Question. How do you “style” your hair after using dry shampoo? My ends are still frizzy. Suggestions on how to style after using. Thank you. I am new to using dry shampoo.
Omg I’ve been having a whole saga with my scalp! I’ve always had thin/fine hair, but I’ve been noticing it’s been thinning for the last year, I think it was because I was wearing it in a ponytail everyday - or at least I hope, because at least that’s an easy fix. Add to that, my scalp was getting really oily so I was using dry shampoo, but then my scalp started flaking really badly so I stopped. I tried a new shampoo & conditioner, Function of Beauty, and OH MY GOD IT WENT HORRIBLY! I ended up with a red ring around the perimeter of my scalp - about an inch inside my hairline - where the skin had been burned off! I’ve switched to Briogeo, I figured a really gentle option was the way to go. Since the whole FoB debacle, my scalp has been SO DRY and still flaking, but my hair gets oily after a day/day-n-a-half, which is actually longer than it used to take. Ugh! I just don’t know what I’m doing and my poor scalp is paying the price.
Hope you are no longer struggling with this issue. But just incase you are or someone is in a similar situation, several years ago my dermatologist recommended over the counter Nizoral shampoo. It contains 1% Ketoconazole. You can purchase it on Amazon, Target or Walmart. This shampoo works wonders. I tried ointments and other treatments/shampoos and nothing came close to Nizoral. It relieved the itching, redness, dandruff, and all the buildup. I had awful and persistent patches on the front of my hairline and now they are gone for good.

Just found your video after talking to my best friend about a new dry shampoo I bought as I was going to try yet another different one. I am someone with very fine, oily, blonde hair. I also currently have to wash my hair every other day. I’m lucky that I do not have to wash it every day. However, I am also a frequent gym goer and I find that even after day one of washing my hair, going to the gym and simply having my hair pulled back in a ponytail, even if I don’t sweat, really causes it to immediately start becoming greasy. Which, if anyone has any tips on preventing greasy gym hair after a workout, whether it’s a recommendation for a dry shampoo or just recommending I use dry shampoo afterwards, let me know! Aside from how often I have to wash my hair already, the gym is my next biggest battle. But my best friend made a comment to me last night where she discovered it’s not the type of dry shampoo you buy or the brand, but how you use it. That prompted me to search how to apply dry shampoo on UA-cam and I just came across your video from that search. I am definitely guilty of using it as a treatment method rather than a prevention method. Funny enough I am actually planning on washing my hair today hours from now after I’m done working out at the gym as my hair at this point is already extremely greasy and unruly. I’m going to use your advice in this video and use dry shampoo on my hair after I wash it later and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I see a difference! I am someone who literally struggles with my hair getting greasy and oily so quickly so if this does make a difference as people in the comments have said it does, especially people with my hair type and situation, I will literally come back here, and bless you up and down 😂
Hey Sam my hair is thin and fine and curly and no matter if I put curling products in it or blow it out, it always looks fine and thin. Plus I have a million baby hairs so if I try to put it up its just a frizzy mess. Any tips to make my hair look nice? Should I cut it shorter? Idk what to do. Im in cosmo school and I would not want someone doing my hair who looks like me!

I seen your video and clicked it so fast lol was waiting for this video! I feel I put too much and then it feels way to heavy. And I never like to use it the first day idk why but maybe i need to now , Question 🙋🏽♀️ is using too much dry shampoo to much for your hair ? or is it bad ? I’m trying to grow my hair out , And I seen that natural oils is good for your hair but i hate my oily scalp but day two it’s so oily. But thanks so much for the tips ❤️
Even if you're not allowing your hair to get super oily, it's still better than shampooing it every day because you're not drying out the lengths. You don't want to spray tooooo much though, because it won't feel good and too much build up on your scalp isn't good.
According to dermatologists you cant train your glands to produce less oil. As someone with fine, very oily hair, I cannot not wash or cowash my hair every single day. This started at puberty, not because I started washing my hair more as a teenager, but because my hormones changed. I also have an oily t zone and not washing my face would not be good for my skin and I would break out terribly. It's okay to wash your hair every day to remove oil build up. Also, many dry shampoos have been found to contain benzene.
Wow, I’m doing it all wrong! Even the root spraying; I literally aim for the scalp only. If men wash their hair leas often to avoid oil, can they somehow freshen up their hair too?
I have thick hair and to get the best results I part my hair a million different tiny times and concentrate the dry shampoo there. If I can't see any white residue than I feel like my hair remains limp with no volume. As if I just sprayed air from the can & not the dry shampoo itself. To remedy any heavy feeling or residue I vigorously brush it out with a combination boar bristle/nylon brush after letting it sit for 5 minutes. The 5 minutes is super important. Otherwise I feel like I just got rid of the dry shampoo before it actually did anything. I have been doing this for years now and only have to wash my hair once every 4 to 5 days. Another good tip for anyone reading: heavy dry shampoo users should clarify the hair once every 3-4 weeks. Dry shampoo can build up & if you're not properly clarifying your hair than you may think your dry shampoo isn't working when you may just have not gotten your hair clean in the first place.
I hate the feeling of dry shampoo but I do use it on the third day I spray it in sections towards the front and let it sit for maybe 5 mins the. I brush it out with a detaingle brush. Can someone recommend there favorite dry shampoo I use eva nyc dry shampoo and the suavicita one they are the only scents I tolerate
For the first time I see a difference after application! I never use it as I wash my hair every day since i am 15. My hair is not greasy but it doesn’t make sense going out of bath and you separate your head from your body . but sometimes especially in hot weather I will just put it in my purse to freshen up.

I hate the feeling of dry shampoo but I do use it on the third day I spray it in sections towards the front and let it sit for maybe 5 mins the. I brush it out with a detaingle brush. Can someone recommend there favorite dry shampoo I use eva nyc dry shampoo and the suavicita one they are the only scents I tolerate
y did u put it on clean hair
Can I straightening the ends of my air after doing this
Rosmery wather is gooood for gracy hair
Thank you.
thank you for this
This was an awesome tutorial. 👌
For the first time I see a difference after application! I never use it as I wash my hair every day since i am 15. My hair is not greasy but it doesn’t make sense going out of bath and you separate your head from your body . but sometimes especially in hot weather I will just put it in my purse to freshen up.
But you are sraying the hair, not the scalp
Thankyou😊
HELPFUL ❤
