Yes he should. He was the best shortstop of the 70’s. Sadly his candidacy was hurt by the fact that he played on those legendary Big Red Machine teams, his career predates ESPN and his career was overshadowed by power hitting shortstops like Robin Yount, Alan Trammell and Cal Ripken who came to prominence in the 80’s. Concepcion was just as good of a defensive shortstop in his prime as Ozzie Smith. If Ozzie can make it to Cooperstown on defense alone, then why not Davey Concepcion?
WLW. I had this transistor radio in South Carolina back in the 70’s. I could pick up WLW in Cincy, and WWL in New Orleans. I could pick up stations in New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, Philly, Washington, Buffalo and of course, Charlotte and Atlanta. I could listen to all the games. But they would come in strong then fade out and strong again. So you missed a lot.
Hs got robbed by the Hall Of Fame!!!!!! If Ozzie made it, who was great, Davey should have made it. Davey made hard plays look routine. He had range for miles!
I have this running debate with a guy that I would take Concepcion over Barry Larkin. He likes Larkin, but he never saw Davey play, so he doesn't know what he is talkin' about. Dave needs to be in the hall, period.🙂
Do you suppose the Reds went after Tom Seaver after their ace Don Gullett signed with the Yankees? After losing Their Ace to a New York team, they took The Ace from the other New York team. lol
Davey should be a HOF.

Three of the best in this video- Seaver, Concepcion, and Nuxhall.
As a Cincinnati kid watching/listening I’m back on my basement floor listening to WLW’s broadcast of the game.

Greatness!
knew dave in miami - good guy
This game was Tom Seaver's only no-hitter of his career, after I think, three one-hitter's as a member of the New York Mets...

I was there!!! The video doesn’t do it justice. The roar of the crowd was deafening.
This guy should be in the hall already. I don't get it...Class and a tremendous player...
