You are awesome at explaining the “why” behind the function of a proper swing. I was a natural as a youngster and just starting to coach my 8 and 9 year old nephews so I haven’t fully understood why I do what I do. I just needed small tips from coaches in my years to improve upon good foundation. But to get the understanding of it all is such a blessing. You are a true guru. And I’m sure my nephews will thank you in the future lol

Good stuff. This is absolutely the most difficult translation to get youth hitters to understand and feel. I'm working with 11-12 yr old fastpitch girls and nearly 100% struggle with the top hand arm and a racing back elbow.
I love the idea of passing over the ball on the tee. I will implement that one immediately. They have to control that barrel!
Thanks for the great videos, keep up the good work.

Great coaching takes a complicated thing and makes it simple. I am a mountain bike coach, but I am helping out with my 13 year old's team. This is going to help with a couple of kids that are struggling. Thank you from both them, and me.

So glad I found your videos. I’ve been believing and speaking these things and in the environment of the “coach” today, it’s very difficult to get people to listen. My kid is training for the future, not to be the greatest 8th grader. Plus, it’s a fun hobby he and I enjoy talking about.

I like it coach. We do top and bottom hand drills with a short bat trainer from a tee. We will try this one to see if it corrects some of the front side mechanics.

Haha! That’s only cause there’s a good chance you’re one of the very few who actually understand a swing :)
Hogwash on the “Communication” thing. You’re personable. You never talk down to the listener. Never make anyone feel like they’re stupid for not “getting it”. And you come across like you’re seriously invested in people learning. Your information is awesome. You’re easy to listen to. (There’s something welcoming in your voice) And I think you understand “learning” far more than most other teachers-instructors - of any kind.
Because either through your own experience or because you’ve somehow forced yourself to learn and/or understand to see things from the place of NOT Understanding.
Not to mention that I think you get that “Technique” (for anything) ALWAYS came second.
Somebody wanted to hit something with a stick. They “tried” a bunch of different things - or feelings - and decided if they were happy with the results. If not - they tried to think of other ways - to Feel different ways to hit that might get better results. They had no knowledge of “planes” or “positions” or striking “Upward” or “Downward” or proper use of Hips or Hands or Arms - whether to “use” their hands or not use their hands” “if their hands should be Limp - or solid”
They just tried different “ideas” “concepts””ways” : “what if I should feel like I’m chopping wood?” “Or what if I should FEEL like I’m throwing the rope when I lasso the young Horses that aren’t Broken yet” to hit until they were satisfied.
It was only OTHER people who watched and said “Hey - Look where that guy’s hands Always Seem To Be” “Look how that Stick seems always move the same way” “and look - His Hips do the same thing every time too!” And on and on.
That’s why people watch and listen.
And it’s that very fact that you’re surprised that anyone watches your stuff that draws people in.
Please don’t shrug off the “Right?” thing. Not all people are as sensitive to that stuff as I am but all are effected by it whether they know it or not. Either way why even take the chance that it Might get in the way of what you’re trying to share with people.
    OK sorry. Done :)
I just think learning and teaching are important and that few know how to do either.
    Carry on Sir!
