Another misinterpretation of get your foot down early. All that means is when your stride foot lands your hands are still back in launch position. It doesn’t mean land, pause, then swing. Some guys do hit that way and people turn that into that’s what get your foot down means. All high level hitters land with their knob still at the catcher. Even if it’s for just a split second. Young players tend to start their hands as they fall to their foot when they do a bug leg kick so you teach them to land before they swing. It doesn’t mean land way early.
its a trend, the older generations didn't do that, but just because XYZ does it does not mean YOU have to. think about it, the idea is that like golf, keep your head still. It's a timing mechanism but so is the toe tap or the step. The leg kick means your head bobs and one leg is the only thing touching the ground mid swing The batting stance is like a signature, there are variations and according to individual style. Don't let someone try to convert you to the leg kick, especially if you have success hitting in your own style.
Scott GregH or if you have success with the leg kick don’t let someone coach you out of it!! I found the leg kick on my own in high school 6 years ago. I was the only kid who used it. The coaches tried to drill it out of me, and I ended up in a slump because my brain didn’t know which mechanics to use. When I went back in the off-season, next season I saw that it worked for me. Baseball is not a cookie cutter sport for any aspect. Find what works for you
The front leg has nothing to do with it. You generate your power off your back leg. The front leg acts only as an anchor to complete the follow through. I don't care how high or fancy you lift your leg.
Sorry Jerry you must not be familiar with the term "rhythm" in regards to hitting. Very surprising, it is used quite commonly from MLB hitters and hitting instructors. There is a reason most hitters move their front leg LOL. Google can be your friend.
@@jerrybrownell3633 The importance of "rhythm" is mentioned by athletes of pretty much every sport. Boxers like Muhammed Ali and Floyd Mayweather talked a lot disrupting their opponent's rhythm. QBs and WRs in football always talk about being on the same rhythm. And on and on. Sometimes words like "timing" or "reading" is used instead, but they're all the same thing and no real athlete - which youre clearly not - is gonna make fun of another for saying "rhythm."
I can listen to Harold Reynolds all day
