She's my favorite actress. Highly overdue for a second Oscar. She should've been nominated/won for Birth, Eyes Wide Shut, and Dogville!! I'm so excited she's in the race again and killed it in Babygirl. Thanks for getting me excited!!!
I can't wait to see this. Nicole Kidman is my favorite actress and I can't wait to see a performance on the level of Rabbit Hole, Dogville, Birth, Eyes Wide Shut, To Die For, The Hours, etc...
@@oscarfun100 She can't act - can't express ANYTHING cause she can't move her frozen face. As unsexy as it gets and no one needs to see her naked at 57. No one needed to see her at 25. How she got anywhere in Hollywood is beyond me - oh wait - she married someone with influence back then.
Nicole Kidman is my favourite actress of all time and to watch her give this incredible performance with such vulnerability and absolute conviction to her craft is inspiring. Thank you for this review and cannot wait to watch this masterpiece of a film.
Destroyer was one of her best performances ever. Talked with her for a long time with my friend, Sally K at the Academy screening. She’s the real deal as an actress and a person.
I simply adore Nicole Kidman. She's got so many incredible performances under her belt: Moulin Rouge, The hours, The others, Rabbits hole, Being the Ricardos (yes, I really like that one!), Big Little Lies (with which I will be forever in awe), The undoing... And the list could go on! I hope she gets another nomination this year ❤
List of phenomenal Kidman performances since Rabbit Hole: 1. Big Little Lies 2. The Paperboy 3. Destroyer 4. The Undoing 5. The Killing of a Sacred Deer 6. Being the Riccardos 7. Lion
Great to see a return to Oscar-worthy film performance from Nicole Kidman, one of my all time favourite actresses. I hope she gets in. I think To Die For was one of the biggest acting snubs of the 90s and I would have liked to see her nominated (and perhaps won) for The Others instead of Moulin Rouge (though she's great in both, I just adore her performance in The Others). So overall her history with the Oscars has been a bit weird and inconsistent, as she misses for some of her best work and gets in for some random stuff like Ricardos.
Her technical work in Riccardos was excellent though. It's just that the movie itself was a letdown. But yeah, she probably should have also been nominated for To Die For, The Paperboy (best supporting) and The Others, to say the least.
@@Tricki_Woo If you toom offence to the word trashy, my apologies. To me many great movies and books are low brow or as they say trashy. For exmpel the works of the great John Waters or Russ Mayer's Beyond the valley of the dolls and Kill Pussycat Kill. Fatal Attraction would be another trashy movie.
It's a tough year, but i think that if she campaigns hard, she can pull it off. Emma Stone won for a film with plenty of sex last year so I think this could happen.
@@blackforest825 Lopez is an egotistical nasty piece of work from what I've read. So, no I don't disagree with you on her. Kidman? Can't stand her. Is that okay? Last I checked I'm as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. She loves the limelight, can't stay out of it. Now shoving her daughter forward as a model - she doesn't have the looks for that - she's not ugly by any means but why put her in the position to be ridiculed (as she was, unfairly) by a lot of people online - just so you can stand there and beam like an idiot and get your own mug in the magazine. She's insufferable. As for Keith, he seemed kind of normal but now it's like it's her way or the highway. I can't imagine he was over the moon at her making this piece of trash. Did she even consider that her girls have to associate with other kids and might be embarrassed? No. Of course not, because her career is everything to her. She's 57 ffs, when is she going to grow up and act like it and stop trying to make everyone believe she's 30. She was a naturally beautiful woman but she messed up her face with all the botox and other work. She gets so much work because she's the producer on most of it and casts herself in roles much better suited to others.
No question: She is a talented, hardworking actor. She is very charming and engaging in interviews. She has made (mostly) very good decisions about her career, and she has been in firm control of her work and image from the start. However, does anyone else find her difficult to watch because of her plastic surgeries? Her face just does not respond normally to emotional cues anymore, in my opinion. That creates a barrier between me and her performance: I can't see her characters on screen anymore; I can see only Nicole Kidman.
I completely agree about the surgeries. She's unwatchable to me. I feel like I'm on a different planet reading comments and listening to reviews about her.
He might stop after this fiasco. All the sheep here bleating about how wonderful she is - she's a 57 year old actress who can't act or express anything cause her face is frozen stiff. Go read the Daily Mail comments about her and this film and you might actually get the truth.
Nicole Kidman seems perfectly cast; uptight rich lady that you're dying to see the comeuppance of... unfortunately, I'm constantly waiting for her to ask Joseph what happened to her spoooooons.
It seems that TIFF is now the 'obvious predictor' of Oscars? I don't think so. These films will decrease in time, filter through the GGs, and there's still time for late runners.
These kind of movies mean well, but are inadvertently patronizing and just add to the double standard. They need to make more older woman-younger man movies where they refuse to acknowledge the big age difference.
Please tell me she does not ha e a bad wig on in this movie because legit everything she has been in the past 5+ years....shes got the most horrendous looking fake wigs
Have not seen the movie yet so take this with a grain of salt, but considering it is an affair movie, just saying between two consenting adults is simplifying it way too much!
I'm tired of seeing Nicol Kidman in anything anymore. She executive produces most of her projects so sh can always be in good lightng, clothes and somehow has affairs with younger men. With all that said, I'm going to trust your judgement and give her another chance objectively.
It feels like there was a long stretch of time she did nothing and she was in Eyes Wide Shut or I should say barely in it and got Divorced and had a short run of solid great movies like the others (I saw that one in theaters) than took a little break and now seems to be working non-stop. People have called this the MILF period of her career.
Saw this. Hated it. Nothing new in her performance. It's hard to imagine her running a company when the film gives no hint of her strength, intelligence, or tact. While the eroticism of a high-powered woman letting her intern dominate and control her is the selling point, Babygirl fails to balance it with hints of her power. The message about women in leadership feels obligatory at best. It was boring and cringe 😬
Nicole Kidman is ok. Meh really. She's not in the stratosphere of a Cate Blanchett or Kate Winslet who are the best actresses of her generation. She only won her Oscar because of a prosthetic nose in The Hours. She needs to also stop all that plastic surgery.
Whatever you say pookie. She has prove from time to time how good of an actress she really is in films like To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, Dogville, Rabbit Hole and Lion, and even on films like Birth from 2004 that wasn't as loved when it came out she proved herself as an actress that could pull off a performance on a movie like that. Maybe she isn't for everybody but she certainly is a good actress
No other actress, maybe not even Blanchett, could have pulled off To Die For, The Hours, Moulin Rouge!, Destroyer, and Big Little Lies. It's like five different women entirely. Also, a reminder, Blanchett can't sing, neither can Winslet. Just imagine either in Moulin Rouge. They 're technically more proficient, but they don't have the range. You should rewatch The Hours, it's far from just the nose. Her voice work alone was Oscar worthy. Not to mention that she acts with her eyes, and they're not even focusing most of the time. It's just brilliant work, and one of the performances with the shortest run-times ever to win that category, for a good reason.
I simply adore Nicole Kidman.
