This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!
#japanairlines #tripreport #businessclass
The seat review information is so helpful. Because of that am liking and subscribing.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
80% of passengers between S.E Asia and N. America on JAL are connecting passengers during the pandemic. As Japan is still closed for the majority of foreigners and they cannot be accommodated in a hotel in case of missed connection at HND or NRT. JAL tends to wait for passengers from any delayed inbound flights. I think this is the reason why SGN flights were delayed regularly. JAL always had more focus on the passengers originating to and from Japan and the most punctual airline in the world. During the pandemic JAL survived by changing its business model to a proffered transit airline between Aisia and America. SGN route has also had high load factors since the resumption of technical Intern trainees programme visa for Vietnamese nationals.
Sure I understand about the connecting passengers and that certainly explains why my flight from Haneda to JFK was delayed, but doesn’t really explain the flight from SGN-HND being delayed still to this day more than half the time.
**I just took a closer look now and found the issue. I’d always been looking at the HND-SGN flight being on time everyday and then wondering why the reverse was always delayed. Turns out the SGN-HND aircraft is actually flown to SGN daily from NRT. That NRT-SGN flight is delayed all the time 😅- wasn’t expecting it to be a triangular route. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great reporting as always Kevin!!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Great video again! I commented on most aspects on the following vid. Really impressive japanese efficiency on the transfer service. And you missed again the Meyer Näkel:)))
I wish I had known earlier about the wine! Thanks as always for watching 🙏
Interesting service at first :D I'd love to fly them in Business or First from the states one day.
My next flight to JFK was phenomenal. Best sleep I’ve had on a plane, maybe ever. That video comes out Wednesday. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
excellent detailed report. Pot noodles seems very un-Business class but you are very forgiving always which I love and so much less stress when travelling.
In Asia being instant doesn’t automatically discredit a noodle dish though. Especially in east Asia you’ll easily find instant noodle kits for $20+ per serving. It’s quite an art here. As for this flight, it was just bland.
@@tfft ah! Thanks for that insight. Love how you really know the nitty gritty.
the apple juice is from Aomori where the most delicious apples were made!
Good to know! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
The udon noodles in a cup seem like more like you would get in economy class! JAL needs to get more premium soup noodles that are comparable to the IPPUDO noodles served by ANA.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thank you for the video. I have tried their business class and it was fabulous. I was so looking forward to flying it again in December for the routes of MELNRT until I found that they are now using their regional business class seats Shell Flat Neo for the ten hour flights to/from Melbourne, Australia! There is no privacy and it’s not completely a flat bed for the red eye flight. 😢 I am so disappointed.
That’s really surprising. I’ve never known them to use the product on such a long flight- especially considering they have a 788 configuration with APEX suites. Odd. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft really really surprising and disappointing. I believe they never had this product before the change of time schedule lately. I can find many videos for this reference. Hopefully JAL will review the product for this long haul flight.
Thank you very good review and informative for a guy who usually can't afford business class and I dont go this route but I do want to try jal or ana just because japan is shorter from the usa for my layover and I want to see if it helps my feet from swelling from 15 hours to 11 hours should help, take care
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Im taking this flight next week. Im nervous about it cause ive done ANA and qatar business class. Also, my second leg is a 12 hour to chicago...so it could suck
12 hours in business class on an JL 777 ‘could suck’? How on earth have you come to that conclusion lol. JL 777s have APEX suites, one of my my favorite seats.
because you said a long flight of 10-12 hours could be uncomfortable. I came conclusion because you literally said it...@@tfft
@nightwingaven69 Ah I’d always known ORD to be on 777s on NH and JL, hence my comment. I’d say as long as you know what to expect it won’t be too too bad, but it’s simply not as spacious as most other reverse herringbone.
I thought that Japanese breakfast looked really tasty. Interesting that you think ANA is ahead.
It was good! But speaks more to how good ANA is versus JAL lacking. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I flew from HND-DEL last week. Incredibly disappointed in this seat. I'm a bigger guy and this seat is not for me. Plus the warm cabin contributed to a very subpar and uncomfortable 10 hrs. The inflight service and food are top notch, but the seat was the deal killer.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
This is an a useful review video, although I wish such reviews would skip to the chase more quickly, rather than seeing the cabin, layout four minutes into the video. I, for one, I don’t need to see the airport involved, or what it’s like to walk on the jetway to the airplane, or even the takeoff. Just get to the goods…
Sounds like someone’s been drinking the TikTok juice 😂
Skip to it if u dont want to see those parts lol. Great video btw.
Even Hawaiian gives noodles in a ceramic bowl
Thanks for watching 🩴
A very detailed review. Thumbs up for your conscientious efforts to do a thorough review. However, no offense but I personally find that some of your comments were excessively critical and blunt.
🤷🏼♂️ We’re all entitled to our opinions. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
it would seem that ANA business class is far superior to JAL for the south east asia segment.
It depends on the aircraft. ANA and JAL both frequently use regional 767/787s without all aisle access configurations in the region.
Thank you for another great review. I used to love JAL. Unfortunately, since the pandemic they chose a route of Thai, cutting corners hoping it is not noticed. But people do. ANA is a great alternative to JAL.
Let’s just hope they’re not combined like the government recently started talking about 🤦🏼♂️ Thanks as always for watching 🙏🏻
But how do i earn mile to fly like you?
Credit card sign up bonuses! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Great video as always the narration has some gems for laughs as usual
😁 Glad you enjoyed and thanks as always for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft i need your knowledge, i want to go to tokyo, bangkok, seychelles and Bruno’s, I have ANA, Alaska and 80k on Ultimate rewards, what is best routing, i’m in Hawaii but getting to tokyo is not a problem, any advice you have will be appreciated🙏🏽
Before I give my answer, where is ‘Bruno’s’? ☺️
@@tfft oops Buenos Aires , dang auto correct, lol, i’m in Bali now hearing your video seems like an old friend, lol, i like luxury traveler too but your videos are just as informative in a different way
i’m taking a cruise so this is to begin my cruise from Buenos Aires
Hi Kevin, great video again. I'm really looking forward to your Singapore hotel reviews. Do you also plan to stay in Japan for longer? Like a hotel review in Tokyo?
Actually I was originally slated to be in Japan in June but the country didn’t reopen for tourism in time so I went to Bali instead ☺️ Two hotels from Sing coming up followed by 9 in Bali. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Cant wait to see those hotel reviews! Want to return to Bali..but been there only in the Conrad. In SIN i do love the medium priced Holiday Inn Clar key due its location..close to the metro and china town and the Clark Key action, all by a few minute walks
I am gob-smacked to learn that JAL served you a 'pot noodle'! But full credit to JAL for that superb transfer experience.
I’ll take the pot noodles all day everyday if it’ll give me transit experiences like that on every flight haha.
Ah ok the small seat and inferior food helps to explain why ANA is generally more expensive. Informative vid as always. And I liked the rainy scooter shot from the taxi . Blade Runner-esque! Haha
Yeah, depending on the route, I'd say ANA would be worth a 10-20% premium over JAL- but again, overall still a great offering. And yes, had my own little Blade Runner-esque drive home last night in the rain as well 😂 Thanks for watching 🙏
I m going to have a JL 787-8 flight with neo shell in Aug from NRT - SGN. I wa hoping to get the same aircraft swap to try this new product as I havent tried JL reversed herringbone yet. Btw are you going to review the regent in Phu Quoc? It is the latest point option additions to Vietnam resort scene.
The Regent is #1 on my list for all of Vietnam atm, finding time to get down there is a different story haha. Have the rest of 2022 booked already so just waiting for a free weekend or something to come out of thin air haha.
For your flight, just took at look at the Narita flight and it looks like in the past month they’ve swapped in a -9 around 1/3 of the time. There’s still hope 😂 Thanks as always for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft oh thank you for checking that for me. What tools/apps did you use to check that? I actually booked 2 suites at the Regent for 4 nights next month even though it will still be the moonsoon season then. I will follow up here to let you know if it is worth reviewing lol. But things look very promising for that property. I will also spend some time at JW Marriott Phu Quoc and the Intercontinental danang as well that you havent reviewed yet (the IC is my fav in vietnam so far). Oh and I have watched your Six Senses NVB review quite extensively before my 4 nights there next month lol.
Can checkout Flightradar24. Without a membership (or with a free one) I believe you can see 30 days of history for the flight.
JW and IC are both on my list for the channel, but I’ve been to them before so perhaps I’m not rushing as much as I otherwise would to get videos for them 😊
Flying with them in September from Bangkok to Toronto premium economy. Maybe I'll look to upgrade to business class if I can.
For the BKK-NRT segment, both Prem Eco and Business would be okay, but for your segment to Toronto if you are on an aircraft with APEX Suites I highly recommend the upgrade. Best sleep I’ve had in the air in ages. Report on that flight (HND-JFK) is coming out on this coming Wednesday. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing & Thank you for calling my former hometown its correct name "Saigon". I agreed with you that Saigon international terminal lounge is mediocre at best both the hard & soft products.
Hoping a Plaza Premium comes around one of these days. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Our Hồ Chí Minh City is a lot bigger and richer than your saigon. Educate yourself before you speak, ba que!
I suggest that you make your tags for subscribing and liking plus your patreon banner should be smaller. The thank you banner covered up most your video during breakfast, making it difficult to see the actual meal. Other than that quibble, I do like your videos and appreciate your honesty in your reviews.
Thanks very much for pointing it out, will take a look at the graphics today. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I wonder why are people so excited about accessing airport lounges. Most of the time trash food.
I rarely eat much if anything in lounges, but I still love them dearly. There's nothing quite as good to me as a great apron view, from a comfortable (and ideally, quiet) seat, with a cup of coffee. To each their own! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
JAL was good until ANA came on the scene ~
JAL was founded in 1951… ANA in 1952… so are you suggesting that JAL’s heyday was late 1951? 😅
@@tfft I’m saying JAL was widespread and ANA didn’t pick up until much later or had a limited network. JAL along with Thai used to be premier airlines during the 70s, is what I remember when flying from Delhi. They would accord real welcome to Economy like they do to Business Class today.
ANA was still largely a domestic carrier and into cargo. I think it’s international run started more during 90s or so.
Thanks.
Not a great idea to order Japanese meal if flight's not departing Japan.
Also, I thought even transit passengers had to go through security again?
I’d still trust catering in Saigon to do a better job with the Japanese meal than the western one 😂. And yes, the 6 minutes included security, I was the first pax in ‘line’.
Flip flops in business, really?
Yes. In first class too! Just imagine wearing flip flops among a cabin full of people wearing disposable slippers. The horror! It's not 1958 anymore, Rod.
@@tfft Fair enough lol
NEVER take this business class flight. The seats are so bloody firm, its like sitting on a bench. Even economy have better seats.
Umm, ok lol
I’m flying Japan airlines business class, but not the sky sweet it looks so cramped and annoying. I just have the street bed with the screen in the front much better.
Thanks for watching 🩴
I don’t know what the purpose of the sky suites are but they look horrible for a business class ticket. It’s a lot of money I paid $9000 for business class Japan airline from Chicago to Haneda and since I’m coming from Philadelphia to Chicago I have business class for every flight even the connections, but Japan airlines business class on my plane is the normal street private beds instead of these weird compartments where it looks like your feet would be very cramps
