    Love the Flip Flop seat map graphics. As someone who uses Seat Guru whenever planning a flight I find this part of your videos very helpful and interesting.

      Yes! I am obsessive (can you tell?) about seat selection. I never pick a seat without checking SeatGuru first- unfortunately they seem to be less and less accurate these days with newer layouts. Blame TripAdvisor, I suppose. Thanks for watching 🙏

    After the recent JAL crash at Haneda, your comments on the safety video (8.51) are very relevant. Everyone got off safely because they obeyed the rules - e.g. no baggage. Contrast this to a crash in Russia some years ago. Post crash, business class passengers looked back at the smoking remains - where some economy passengers burned to death - but they have their belongings and seem quite content.

    Another awesome video! Please do not get rid of the seat map graphic, that is the reason why you stand out from other flight review videos. Also I like that your reviews are modest and straightforward and don’t have over the top reactions or click bait images. I don’t watch Non-stop Dan cause his video image and title screams negativity. I don’t watch Sam Chui cause his video image shows him with a pretty flight attendant and that’s so like click bait. Maybe I am missing out good content but really I rather watch something that’s more informational and modest compared to those 2. To the flight, did you feel that the width is not wide enough compared to like SG airline, ANA’s the suite or Qatar Q suite? Just feel like JAL putting 5 seats across each row seems cramped for business class.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 роки тому +9

      Thanks very much for your nice words. I am a fan of Nonstop Dan, but I know what you mean. Sam Chui, I will keep my mouth shut 🤐.
      As for the seat, compared to QSuites, 100% there is more sleeping room in the JAL APEX Suites. You will see in my next two trip reports (both QSuite flights).
      Compared to ANA and SQ, yes, all three of them offer superior shoulder/elbow room. ANA offers better than average leg room (width) and SQ, below average legroom (width) but they are both narrower at the feet cubby and there is not unlimited height for your feet.
      What I love about these JAL seats is that from head to toe, there is unrestricted width and no constraints on height- JAL is the shape of a real bed.
      This comes with trade offs, for example as a seat, the ‘pod’ feels more narrow compared to the other three seats. But when just talking about the sleeping surface, JAL wins, easily.

      I do watch nonstop dan for his reviews, but…. He is mostly negative. Bitching about almost everything. And he can’t get through a video without talking about his partner Oscar, and I also cannot stand that he is vegetarian, and constantly rags on the menu. The US population contains 2% vegetarians. I’m not one of them. I like to see regular menus, that relate to the other 98% of us. I do think he should play his whole vegetarian game, but also reach out to the wider audience. Just because an airline doesn’t have a vegan menu doesn’t mean it’s a bad airline

    crazy to think about that, the aircraft you flew on was the world's first and oldest 777-300ER first flew on 24 February 2003. I am still surprised this aircraft held up after all these years. if it were Emirates's aircraft, they would have phased this aircraft out already due to it's age.

      Japan Airlines will most probably retire this and other 777-300ERs after getting delivery of more A350-1000.... Currently they have 2 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

    • @ramyfares9099
      @ramyfares9099 5 місяців тому

      @@tfft i mean at some point, airlines should consider phasing out their 777-300ER built before 2010 mostly due to their age. Air France now is phasing out all of their A330s, all of their 777-200ERs, and some of their older 777-300ERs built before 2010 (F-GSQA for example) to make room for newer aircraft like the A350-900 and -1000. Singapore airlines as well, slowly phasing out their aging 777-300ER aircraft to be replaced by A350-1000 and 787-10 aircraft

    Fly all classes on JL and their Y and Prem Y out of Syd cheaper than average QF esp seating pitch and service.
    Also can fly J/F Syd to LHR for 10800 aud and Qf/Ek and others up to 16k.
    I am happy with former and daylight flights out of SYD any class is always comfortable.
    See you one day in a lounge.
    Safe travels to everyone and we are all respectful to everyone in the industry for allowing us to travel safely and with comfort.
    Thank you
    Ps I have done 2000 self funded flights and notice in lounges and checkin opinionated and selfish well known utubers looking for content drama and guess what, there is none. Airlines make errors and the well managed ones fix them so we keep flying them.

      Oh god no lol. They’re not even in the same galaxy as the old Club World suites. I was just making a graphic on this yesterday. On a 777-300ER, British Airways fits 56 Club World seats between Door 2 & Door 3. On the same plane, between the same doors (as in, in the EXACT same space), Japan Airlines can only fit 42 of their APEX suites.

    Hi Kevin, this is an outstanding video of an outstanding product..i really loved it and thank you very much for sharing. Loved your systematic comments and the seating chart. Still wonder whether you could not do more of your comments live on the flight rather afterwrds in a studio? Unfortunately, despite your laudable efforts to show the seat map i have not and probably never will understand those seats. I see that one is more forward than the other..but you still have to climb over your neighbours feet, righ? So its not an all aisle access seat? An even bigger mystery to me are those BA seats, hehe, but i gave up to understand how they work. Food looked impressive..as japanese food always does. Problem is: i just dont like it, hehe. But the most impressive part of this video you will never guess. It was he Pinot Noir by Meyer Näkel! It comes from Germanys smallest and oldest red wine area, established by the romans. It is just around the corner from me, a 30 min drive, and i have regularly been driving there for decades to walk on the red wine hiking path and to buy and drink wine. Unfortunately, it as heavilydistroyed by a hoorible flood 2 years agao, which cost a lot of lifes. Its being reconstructed now. www.ahrtal.de Meyer Näkel is the star wine maker of this area and i really love his wines. Actually, wines from there are one of our best kept secrets: we dont export them but prefer to drink them ourselves, ehhe. Big chapeau to JAL that they found them. If you ever come to Germany and here to the Cologne or DUS area: I will take you there:) Warm regards!

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 роки тому +1

      Very happy to hear about the reconstruction and sorry I didn't know about this wine earlier! Thanks as always for your feedback. For the seats, they are in deed all aisle access and (unlike the old BA seats) at no point will you need to step over someone else's legs/personal space. Imagine if you will, each seat is an enclosed pod and you are walking in front of that pod to access the window side seat. About the commentary, I'm afraid my brain just doesn't have that skillset 😂. I have tried, but I realized very quickly that it would just make my videos longer than necessary and frankly, more boring. Also, perhaps this relates more to my hotel reviews than my flight reviews- I prefer not to write scripts in the moment or soon after. My gut reaction to a room or flight might be too extreme (in either direction)- the lasting impression is what I like to focus on. I have though, as you suggested some videos prior, toned down the music tracks and blended it much more with real live background noise, which I am really liking. As always, thanks very much for watching 🙏

    • @homer3152
      @homer3152 2 роки тому +1

      @@tfft Thank you for your kind reply and i can fully understnd your point..reminding me of some of my own mistakes in my earlier videos, hehe. Yes, it was a good idea to tune down the music. But, and i feel a bit uncomfortable to never being 100% content: i thought this video in many parts felt a bit "sterile"..maybe you could try to tune the "live" sounds a bit more up in relation to the studio sound? Hope ypu dont take it badly:)))

    • @tfft
      @tfft  2 роки тому +1

      My content is not for my own viewing, so what ever the audience wants is always the “right answer”- nothing to feel badly about.
      The sound for my videos is an evolving process. The next handful of reviews will be the same and then I can compare their performance which tells me what everyone did and didn’t like- and it will evolve.
      But, one thing I need to keep in mind is: many viewers these days watch videos at 1.5x or 2x speed, so I need to be careful a bit with the sound to make sure there are no spikes. I don’t want someone to fall off the treadmill because they were jolted by the sound 😊 As always, thanks for your comments 🙏🏻

      JAL is certainly better than any of ANA’s 787 or old-config 777 offerings- but ANA’s newest The Room seat on some of their 777s is better- but it’s on such a limited number of aircraft/routes I’d likely book JAL if I was blind to the aircraft type. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
