- BTC 18 Nearly a decade after the return of the Sith Empire and the start of the Great War, the Empire had scored dozens of victories, establishing its dominance in the Outer Rim. As the Sith turned their forces toward the Mid Rim, however, the Republic prepared a bold surprise. When an Imperial squadron arrived to seize control of Bothawui, the entire Republic fleet was waiting. The fleets victory was celebrated across the galaxy, but the truly inspiring moment was yet to come. As the Republic fleet dispersed to defend other battlefronts, only a small force remained behind to face the Empires retribution. The Jedi and Republic troopers on Bothawui never had a chance of surviving the Imperial attack, but their courage and selflessness in the face of impossible odds won a victory far greater than that from any single battle. The heroic stand on Bothawui restored hope across the galaxy, and rallied the Republic's forces to fight with renewed courage.

These videos are frankly some of the best worldbuilding I have seen in years. The amount of homework they did for this MMO is incredible.
After thousands of years of this brave stand and decade later of this archive video, I salute every Jedi and republic soldiers who gave their lives to fight for the justice. You will never be forgotten. May the force be with your souls.

2:48 The armor that the Troopers are wearing here is one of the best looking sets in the game, and in this scene, it doesn't have the worst part of it that shows up on every variant in the game. SHOULDER SPIKES!
I want that armor set, the Phalanx armor I believe is depicted here, without those god damned shoulder spikes. Is that so much to ask for?

This would make a great movie. Who wouldn't want to watch 7 dozen jedi knights and 4000 republic troppers against 50,000 emepiral troops. As they fight to the bitter end the republic show true courage along with the Jedi like it said they last beyond the fear of death
This was the best entry in this series by far even more so than the Jedi Civil War one.
What a battle, heroes all of them. I read on Wookiepedia that the Grand Moff in command of the Imperial Forces in the 2nd Battle of Bothawui was executed or something like that for his failure
this one is my favourite. when he described theodds with battle of the heroes playing in the background, it justs sends a shiver downs my spine.

TOR is still produced, new trailers and expansion packs are still dropped. It is still alive. How does that make sense if it is uncanon?
because it is still an active game and they generate revenue of it. I am a HUGE swtor player and Old Republic era fan, its head canon for me but sadly it isn't considered Canon at the moment. However the Old Republic era is recognised in their Timeline plan revealed at the recent Celebration so we can only hope.@@DropkickNation

@@BigZ282 It would have been more sensible, that much is certain. 4,000 against 50,000? Thats the sort of numbers you'd expect today, not the sort that would be fighting to conquer a planet, and even that's a conservative estimate.
Praetor 98 Warfare works differently in Star Wars when capturing/defending a modernized planet like Bothawui. Ground battles tend to hinge on who controls the planetary shield generator, and for a relatively small target, you don’t need to waste more than a few thousand troops when there are literally hundreds of thousands of other worlds you also are trying to invade, some of which indeed require massive troop deployments.

No matter how many super soldiers are needed or made, it always ends up coming down to just us, its always us from start to finish, the grunts on the ground, the men and women with only the will to fight, we will always be the ones you will want when taking the fight head on to the enemy, when either a world is taken or defended it's always on us!

Zach Zier Clone War era hero's were pussies compared to the old Republic hero's.
They were getting ready to start a Rebellion.
To be fair, there was even more simple minded Jedi in this era. It's just by having a ton more Jedi - there was much more people willing to take action.
The republic had their military disbanded after the final defeat of the sith, several thousand years before the clone wars.

Master Allusis is the type of Jedi I want to see in a Star Wars movie! Strong in the Force and brave enough to lay his life down with his men to protect innocent civilians from Sith slaughter and slavery.
An example of good leadership and well motivated soldiers defending against a larger attacking force and repelling them. Even if the empire won, it lost more than it gained. The sheer loss of life in the conflict on there side was far from a fair trade, adding on to the fact that imperial troops will lose morale vs. the Republics huge spike in morale. The only thing I don't know is what kind of numbers the empire has, because, depending on how many he has, he might be able to afford the loss.
Hell, the Empire didn't win. They lost so many troops that they were forced to withdraw from Bothawui, 'cause they couldn't hold it.
Yeah, no reason to stay, if the counter attack will crush whatever that's left. The whole situation with this planet was a decent loss of resources for the Empire.

I am sure it could even destroy the Star Destroyer. Seeing as there was a point after this war that several thousand years became a plateau for tech increase and gain and thus making the best of this time probably equals to Star Destroyer technology.

The Ascendant Spear would probably win. It had the same length as an Imperial I class one and tons of extra firepower, plus coordination perks
Aside from standard Republic troops, the presence of local partisans/resistance/guerillas cannot be ruled out. Perhaps the Imperials ruled there weren't enough troops to hold against them or against a potential Republic counterattack

I hate to say this about such an awesome battle, but the Sith were doomed to lose this battle. It's simply not possible to occupy an entire planet with 50,000 men.
I think the 50000 troops were not to invade the whole planet but rather the task force deployed to take out the the planetary shield. Without the generator they wouldn't need to deploy as large of an army to hold the planet when you have ships ready to rain fire down on any city that offers resistance.
A principle of planetary conquest in Star Wars that was established all the way back in the Thrawn Trilogy is that drawn-out campaigns for control of a widely-populated planet city-by-city are untenable to base a full-scale war on. The goal in most invasions is instead to seize control of the planetary shield generators possessed by most modern worlds; this combined with orbital supremacy results in you effectively holding the planet hostage, forcing its governmental/military authorities to surrender under threat of targeted, surgical bombardment of any and all resistance.
As a note of interest, SWTOR followed this rule quite well--notice that the only heavily-populated planet in the original game where you endure full-scale war between the Empire and Republic is Corellia, and Corellia is in a state of military and political flux, with the two sides fighting for orbital supremacy while the ground forces are caught in the midst of a civil uprising of the Corellian people against their Imperial-collaborator government.
If you're thinking in terms of earth now, then yes it would be impossible.
But if the entire planet population was the size ofGermany, with settlements only taking as much square miles as Europe, a 50,000 thousand man army could do it considering they had faster means of transportation and more destructive weapons.

1. Indeed the empire did technically win. However, if you lose 50,000+ soldiers to a paltry force of 12,000, its an extremely bad trade for you.
2. During the final stand, the defenders drove the empire to retreat one final time before they were obliterated.
Wedge Antilles 12,000? 4,000 Republic Soldiers and 7 dozen of the finest Jedi Knights which is 72 plus the Jedi Master which is 4,073 men. Don't know where you got 12,000 from. 4,073 against 50,000 soldiers plus reinforcements. That is just the greatest last stand ever, that's how you do an Alamo much better than your pathetic Battle of Yavin

50,000 troops is unprecedented? In a galaxy of trillions? On earth it's very normal to have wars fought with considerably more soldiers, and we're only one planet.
More like hundreds of quadrillions. The Yuuzhan Vong War alone cost over 865 trillion casualties for the defenders.
this is one small battle with a small detatchment thats why. A galaxy of trillions yes, however not everyone became soldiers, and a good third if not more of the galaxies population werent even a member of the Republic or Sith Empire

I understand why youre angry but it is also better for the fans who are really into it i dont neccesarily like mmorpgs but This one is going to be great and there will be so much more to do and so much more gameplay than if they just made another rpg

I like the timeline series, but there are two things that are very wrong.
First, you can't have a draw if one side died and in this battle the defending republic troops died defending their ground. That the empire took many loses, yes, but the empire still defeated the republic so that is not a draw.
Secondly, the narrator mentions that the republic troops fell, but that they manage to drive the empire to retreat. Why would the empire retreat if all the republic troops got killed?, if all re
It's a draw, because the Empire had lost so many Soldiers that they had no hope of holding Bothawui if the Republic sent a reprisal force.
so far it looks like you can only play as humans please tell me if you can it will be fun to play as other species but as far as i know there will probably not be any other species at this stage
