    Is there a spring? That cat definitely smelled your scent. Very sensitive trail cam to catch birds and butterfly's. Still haven't caught a thing in the desert.

      No spring there. But the cave is in a wash that carries water when it rains a lot.

    Wow, this is so different from the dozens of other videos of yours we've seen! Beautiful like all the others, but in a different way. Different environment or at least different setting.
    In order of appearance (please correct me, if this is wrong), we see:
    1. Bobcat 0:24
    2. Butterflies 1:22 - 1:33. Can you figure out the species?
    3. Cactus Wren 1:37
    4. Mice 2:07 hopping and not hopping? Or is the not hopping a rat?
    5. Harris's Antelope Squirrel 2:10
    6. Desert Cottontail 2:18
    7. Gamble's Quail 2:30
    8. Javelina 3:25
    9. Mourning Dove 5:40
    This is a treasure. I'm amazed you forgot about it! You know Vincent van Gogh painted over some of his works he was dissatisfied with, rather than pay for another canvas. (Argh!) I'm not comparing you to Van Gogh exactly, but apparently you did underestimate this video, because you were disappointed that you didn't get the snake you wanted. Fortunately, you didn't pull a complete Vincent and overwrite the SD card. 🙂 Thanks!

      Lol. Thanks for watching. I’m not sure on the butterflies. I started to look it up but found dozens of species. Maybe an expert could help us out.

      @@Michael.Outside If I identify the butterflies, do I get half the profits (zero?) on the video? 🙂
      Was I right about a mouse AND rat at 2:07, or does a rat not show up until 4:04? At 4:04 the rodent's ears, I think, are bigger relative to the head.

    • @Michael.Outside
      @Michael.Outside  Рік тому +2

      You have a deal. The mice are super tiny. The rat is obvious because it’s almost the same size as the rabbit.

    • @alwaysuseless
      @alwaysuseless Рік тому +1

      @@Michael.Outside Um, the biggest rodent in the video is long, but has less than half the volume of the rabbit. In any case, if I understand your answer, at 2:07 we see two mice of different species, and at 4:04 we see a rat that kind of looks like the bigger mouse but is much bigger.
      I'll ask a friend who scientifically models populations of Bighorn Sheep about the butterflies. If we're lucky, I can split my half of your zero with him. 🙂

    And some butterflies that are puddling; that is, perching on damp ground where they can suck up moisture. The sand has minerals in it that the insects need.
    Do you by any chance know what the black beetle climbing the twig to the right is? At about 5:45...

      All cats pay attention to their surroundings. If you have house cats, take something and put in another room on the floor. They will check it out, because it was not there yesterday. I have ridden my quad and dirt bike for thousands of miles in all kinds of terrain, mountains, deserts, and everything in between. I have always wondered how many THOUSANDS of times I have been watched by a Cougar. They are a cat, and all cats like to get on some high perch and just survey their domain. You may not be aware of them, but they are aware of you!
      By the way, Michael, I subscribed. It is so peaceful to just sit back and have a peek at animals just doing what they normally do.
      Many years ago a friend of mine was bow hunting for deer in the Cascades. There was about an inch of fresh snow on the ground, and he was searching for deer tracks. Then he came upon some cougar tracks, so he started following them. Soon, he came upon his tracks. The cougar was now following him. I asked him what he did then, and he said that he went back to his truck! LOL

    I've never seen Gambels quail before, that blue color is so beautiful. The kangaroo mice were also a new one for me. I wonder if the first bobcat was a female? The second one was male and left his scent, which makes me wonder if that deters the other animals from using the cave as a den. I noticed the rabbit the second visit was have several bees landing on it's fur and flying in it's face. That was odd. This was a great video. It's time for a road trip to Arizona!

    Interesting, how some of the wildlife detects the camera comes in closer to investigate. , (not just this video, but many others across you tube). They can tell it not a part of their natural environment…. Doesn’t look like any of them actually go all the way into the cave. Fear of what could be lurking within, entrapment?

    • @Michael.Outside
      @Michael.Outside  Рік тому +2

      Could be! I think just the mice and bugs live in there full time. I was hoping a snake would come out.
