Hi Emmie, I discovered your channel about a month ago. I don’t know which video it was that I saw, but the way you speak about literature, characters, authors… it reignited the reader in me. I used to read so much during my childhood, teenage years and early 20s. Then my life took a different turn and I gave up reading for almost 10 years. After I watched your video the other day I have started reading again. I am once again able to focus on a book and submerge myself in the magic of whatever story the author is telling me. I am so, so thankful that I stumbled upon your channel. Thank you for your videos, your recommendations and for all the love and good vibes you give to your subscribers!
    A thankful viewer,
    M.

even though it's spring where I am (and there's a never ending heatwave), the love for Jane Austen and Northanger Abbey in this video made me really cozy and happy :} what a joy to live in a world where there are books such as the ones Austen has written.

I also absolutely loved Phantom of the Opera when I read it! I loved the mystery of it all and how the narrator was a detective. The musical is fun, but the original story has so much more...more depth and layers and just way more engaging. I remember being just totally transported with the descriptions of the opera house and all the architecture. I need to read it again, thanks for mentioning it!

I took a page out of your previous solve a mystery video and did my own little solve Wednesday when it premiered on Netflix. I watched about three or four episodes, and then I wrote down my solution of the case and sealed it in an envelope. I got some of it right and more of it wrong, and it was a fun time. Hemming and hawing (mentally) once the clues start rolling in about half-way through made me appreciate the skill put into the mystery. Thank you for the inspiration.

Hello Emmie :)I noticed that you said you don't have a lot of mangas that you absolutely adore, and I dont know if anyone else has recommended or if you've already tried to read this but, Witch Hat Atelier is one of my absolute favorites so far, I think I'm only on like the 3rd volume, but let me tell you...the artwork? Beautiful, it's like no other manga I've seen, like the typical panels you normally have...the artwork itself makes the book look like some sort grimore or ancient book you've picked up, and the storyline? Wonderful world building that really delves into the magic system it has, along with its limits and opportunities for growth. It's amazing and I cannot recommend it enough, if you ever feel like giving it a try. :) Oh, and thank you for the recommendations!

I really think you would love Mushishi, a gentle, melancholic, super atmospheric, sometimes heartbreaking manga about living in harmony with the natural world. Unfortunately it is literally impossible to get physical copies at reasonable prices, but there are ebook versions available. Normally I hate reading manga/graphic novels/etc in ebook form, but Mushishi is an absolute masterpiece, a very very rare thing in the manga/anime world imo, and it's worth reading in any format you can get your hands on. The anime adaptation is also absolutely incredible, if watching anime is your thing. Possibly even better than the manga because of how much more it can do with atmosphere through animation and sound.

I just recently read The Phantom of the Opera because of your constant recommendation of it and it was utterly beautiful I particular love the way Leroux describes musical sounds(usually made by Erik) often as other-worldly like for example "I had no idea what to make of those unforgettable sounds which, if they weren't pouring directly out of heaven, gave no indication of where else they could be coming from. Not from the here below, that's for sure, for there was neither instrument nor hand nor bow on earth capable of it." When people have that sort of way with words it does something to me and brain just forgets how to function I swear to god 😂

Impulse buy and download of Aggie Morton, only 100 pages in but great fun, charming, and has enjoyable characters. If you want something different give it a go. Perhaps I shouldn't be reading it as I am nearly 70 years old, but as they say, you are never too old to enjoy a book. Take care everyone.

I cannot say that I have to read certain books for a given season, but I do enjoy finding a comfortable place to read and feel like I am in an appropriate atmosphere. You made some pretty comfortable selections and Mary's Monster especially catches my attention. It kind of reminds me of the structure of an Ellen Hopkins book where each chapter is written in verse and takes on its own story. The Aggie Morton series sounds cute. I would like to read more by Agatha Christie and am left to wonder if all of her books could or have been bound up like the collection you have. For now, I am acquiring as many as possible in used paperback for incredibly cheap. I came across a complete collection of Jane Austen, but decided against purchasing it, while I did read The Phantom of the Opera awhile back, but it really did not stick with me. Aria looks quite intriguing, despite the fact that I do not read manga. Thank you for sharing your recommendations and I hope you read even more great books this autumn! -Josh

Stopped to think about my essential cozy books and I feel all of them are way more spring or summer coded. That being said, it's not like I experience seasons where I live... It's just like dry and cold or literal hell. Also, both of my essentials aren't translated to English, which is such a pity, cause you'd LOVE them, Emma! One is called A Fada que Tinha Ideias (The Fairy who Had Ideas) and it's about a fairy who refuses to do her homework cause she thinks all magic in the book of fairies is outdated, so she just invents her own spells (and kinda gets in trouble). It's cute and fun and the illustrations are adorable!
The other one is called Luna Clara and Apolo Onze (Luna Clara and Apolo Eleventh) and it's about these two children, each of them lives in opposite sides of the center of the world, where it never rains cause Luna Clara's father took the rain with him 10 years prior, in a huge misunderstanding. Luna Clara never lived through anything in her life and she keeps waiting the day her father will come back. One day she feels wind for the first time in her life and decides to go chase it. Meanwhile, Apolo Onze is always bored cause his town is in a huge party since he was born, so he doesn't have a lot of wishes. One day, he wakes up and it's raining and his first wish ever is to chase the rain. Both of them meet each other right in the center of the world and kinda find some secrets. The writing is SO poetic and SO fun!!! You'd love it so much!! It's really your vibe. If you spoke portugueses or there was an english or french translation, I'd had sent it to you already

It even has the series Aqua, which Aria follows as part of the collection.

Best of luck hunting them down. Currently all the complete sets I could find is a stupid amount.
