  • "My Journey" continues with a showing of my Susan b Anthony Littleton Album along with a Couple of graded hole fillers!!!
In my opinion the Susan b Anthony is one of the most Iconic as well as short lived series in the US Mints History.
For the first time the Mint used the image of a prominent Suffragette to adorn the Obverse which was a bold move having previously used only the images of Presidents who just by chance happen to be all male. The Reverse stole the Eisenhower Dollar Image of Apollo 11 landing on the moon which was a strange bedfellow?
    I still Love the SBA

Very interesting and controversial subject you have raised there... but I agree with what you say about grading! and have noticed it.. and the proof is there to clearly see! As I have bought many graded coins , and also had mine graded recently .. and on average I'd say recent graded coins are getting two grades lower than those from the past ...
which means those who have top spots in registry can't be beaten.. and I've had to buy (when available) coins at a higher grade that are nowhere close in condition to those I've sent (via an independent grader) to NGC recently.. marks in the field and multiple dings on relief's etc..
So .. in short .. if you buy and grade the best looking coin you can .. chances are a lesser coin from a favoured source or older grading will have a higher grade... sad but seems to be true.. also PCGS seem to grade coins higher than NGC and so hardly any will cross .. example on Ebay currently MS65 is no better than a modern graded MS62 from NGC ... and yet is priced way too high..
Sorry for the ramble ... but I'm a collector.. not a flipper / trader like most .. and it's not transparent ...

@@chrisb.h4605 Your passion and sense of injustice within the industry is spot on Pal. I have the number 2 rated 1951 FOB ngc registry but having (now) to buy upgrades because I know what I have ( take a look at my 1951 video) will not grade as high and I have a Beautiful set ready to go to for grading but i am holding off as I dont think it will be worth it? Take a look, think its my 2nd video? and let me know what you think 😎

@@LeedsLadLovesCoins So looked at registry , and as it's the crown , half crown and penny plus another exceptional coin I'd send to get graded (maybe with conservation by NGC as special chemical used on copper) to see if you can equal or get a few points past .. to get number one spot! it's frustrating when you see the same names get awards every year ... when in reality ... put coins side by side .. do they really grade higher! look at George V London sovereign registry for example ..

What a Very nice Proof in 69 to pick up for £ 3 , lol 😂👍 I have heard of the Susan
B . Anthony dollar's but I don't know much about them , I like the reverse, but the Obverse lacks a little bit of flow and creativity in my opinion,, Very nice complete set 👍

@@haroldmclean3755 what is it about the Obverse that you dislike? The Reverse was a carry over from the Eisenhower Dollars.

Can you explain how you instantly could tell the difference between the mintmarks in type 1 and 2 for the 1981 proof? Ive been collecting these for almost 2 decades and still have an issue with it.

@@keithhaynes5348 The Type 1 is "a blob" also called a "filled s" whilst the Type 2 is a "clear s" so is clearly defined.
Jump onto the NGC web page and select the furthest right tab, then select "Variety Plus" and then just follow the prompts, they have some excellent images, but remember its the 1979 s Proof you need to look at as the other Type 1's & 2's are different, just to confuse matters??? Let me know how you get on
