  • Remo Hobby 10275 1/10 RC Crawler is a fabulous, cheap all-rounder. Put it in the kids' hands and they'll have a blast with it, wet or dry - doesn't matter! It's tough where it matters, doesn't weigh much and is easy on the batteries.
    However, as a crawler the picture isn't so rosy. The tires aren't bad for a super-cheap RTR 1/10 scale rig, but traction is elusive and in our review, the 10275 managed just 1 of 6 problems in our rock test.
    We took it to the workbench to make a few adjustments. Today we'll look at our Stage 1 mods - done on a tight budget - and we'll see what difference it all made on the rocks.
    Let's test!

    I really appreciate that you take the time to properly test and modify the "cheaper" RCs. This hobby should be about having fun and if it can be cheap while you're having fun then that's a big win. See you next week 🙂 Take care!!

    Having watched your channel now for long enough, I should have expected that 55T 540. But I didn't. That was an unexpected turn (haha) of events. And it appears to have worked wonderfully. A trick to remember, for sure. Same with the three link and panhard. Should have expected it and didn't. It seems to have made a world of difference. As you said, not perfect, but a definite improvement.
    Watching the truck trying Problem 2, I can't help but think, maybe the tires/foams are too firm? it didn't seem like the front tires were flexing and conforming to the rock surface very well, so it was like a hard rubber surface on a hard rock surface, no flex and no grip. All the problems, really. Maybe softer tires/foams could resolve some of that?
    Adding the rock for weight up front seemed to help, which would indicate that more weight is called for. But what if just putting in softer foams would achieve the same goal? I'm reluctant to add weight if there's another way to achieve the same result, so maybe?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks. Could be the case - I think they're plenty soft already and the truck doesn't weigh much. I guess we'll have to see where this goes next!

    Interesting to see the progress you’ve made. I understand where you’re going with this but still think buying used if at all possible would be the better option. Useful for those who have already bought one of these. Definitely curious to see what you do to it next.

      Thanks Scott, I feel used is better at this price, too. But, it's a thing that exists now so we'd better see how good we can reasonably make it!

    8:52 weight is always an issue with traction, even in full sized vehicles. I know many who own pickups with 2wd (silly fools) and they always get stuck in snow simply because all the weight of a pickup is over the front wheels. Many people throw in 6 or 8 concrete blocks in the back to gain traction. Increase the weight in the wheels to 250 or 300g and it'd be even betterer. (if the motor and esc can handle the load that is).

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Mike, quite right. I try to present these videos as a bit of an experiment where we can learn together. I throw out preconceptions as much as practical so that when we try something new (like the rock on the front) there's a practical "ah-ha!" moment :)
      Spoiler ahead: I'm in the process of editing the follow-up to this one and have each wheel +100g. Is better. I don't like adding rotational mass where I can add it to the axle instead, but on a tight, tight budget with this one, cheap INJORA wheels made sense as the next upgrade! Thanks for the thoughtful and insightful comment - completely agreed. Cheers!

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 2 роки тому +1

      @@RCTNT haha I loved the rock! Reminded me of the concrete blocks.
      I hear you on the rotational mass. I think with the 540 motor though you have the power to overcome it. I know adding unsprung weight is an issue with performance vehicles but I think in this case, it's adding weight where needed. You add it to the body and that brings tip issues.
      I'll be using ALL your tips when I receive my RBR/C all metal chassis car from bangood....maybe in September hahah (couldn't pass it up at $230 cdn delivered).

      @@RCTNT it's funny you mentioned that. My early thoughts were injora wheel/tire combo, and axle-mounted servo as an upgrade. You could spend $110 to get the total to $250ish, and still be under the used market.

      Yep, definitely needs it. I try a light approach first usually, as adding weight immediately can hide other issues that may need fixing too. I figure we get this as nicely set up as possible then add weight to let it be everything it can be! Lol

    If it comes down to budget, the ISDT ESC70 is only £20 or so. I ran my Carisma Sca1e Coyote out with my son and his friend, and once set up for the controller (I use my Dumbo transmitters on multiple cars), it runs perfectly, and runs/ crawls really well.
    I've spent some time playing with the settings and I've got it running great on the terrain where I am.
    Those mods seem to work really well. Just trial and error with some I guess. 👍🏻
