This is actually a Boeing 737-900ER. I can tell because of the extra exit doors that are right behind the wings and before the rear exit doors which are not on the original non-ER 900

I live in Houston and have for 30 years (where an airline called "Continental" used to be based). I travelled about 250,000 miles a year on Continental for business. I ALWAYS got upgraded. When they "merged" with United (i.e., got eaten up by them) all I know is everything went downhill with that "merger." It became much harder to upgrade and I lost a ton of mileage.

You are right and i totally agree with you. This new upgrade-policy is a mess. But i was lucky to fly in front of the curtain, because this flight was part of a long-haul-trip in the Polaris Business.
