As someone who has to BE at work by 6am, it is kind of nice to think of being able to get up and leisurely have breakfast or coffee. Your work is very laid back and nice. The good thing about my day is how early I am off so I have a lot of free time in the afternoons.
I also work in Marketing, in Canada though. I have worked from home since January of 2020. Its nice in a lot of ways, but I do miss just interacting with coworkers or going to lunch. But I don't miss my commute to the office (1H to 1H 15M) one way every day.
15:56 that’s exactly me as well, people would get mad or tired of my orders because i keep buying the same stuff over and over, they would ask me if i wasn’t bored of the same food all the same time!!
I love to see other people's workdays......probably because mine feels so unconventional. I work in a veterinary laboratory and we are so short-staffed. Usually, I either bring lunch and go eat in my car or, if things are super-busy, one of my colleagues and I place a to-go order from somewhere close and pick it up. She's about to retire though, so I'll probably be eating while I work for a while after she leaves.
In Spain and Germany we prepare our food at home the day before and bring it to the office the next day. Coffee is then available in the office and we don't have to buy it. Younger colleagues who can't cook well or don't feel like it go out to buy something. Mostly rolls or baguettes.
Thank you for giving us a sneak peek into your office life. I've worked in a major marketing agency and I'm currently doing freelance work by creating content for social media for clients. I recently got a vlogging camera and I've been playing around with making videos. I have intermediate level Japanese and am still working on spoken Japanese. I am planning on relocating to Japan for work in the next year. This kind of job seems perfect for my experience.
i really enjoyed this video because it's a very realistic expectation of what to expect when working in japan. it's honestly very similar to.. pretty much every other country. also, i've been a big fan of tokyo creative for at least the past 5 years and i'm gonna be scouting for open positions in 2 years after i finish japanese language school 🙏
Fascinating! I love visiting Tokyo, Kyoto and so many cities in Japan and I have always wondered what it would be like to live/work there!! I enjoyed your info and thoughts so much! Your work area sounds interesting! I’m a psychologist! Love it! Loving what we do matters A LOT!! Cheers!!
Such a fun video, really cool to see what your days look like! Also Sarah as always is gorgeous but glasses on is a VIBE!!! Love it! Thanks for the awesome videos you have shared recently! 🙏🏻
I had the opportunity to work at a Japanese location for a few days last year. Layout is similar to US HQ and the culture is also American. But I prefer the Japanese snacks over US snacks. Senbei over Welsh fruit snacks and lots of green tea options.
love your commitment to coffee, as an Aussie it's embedded deep in my blood stream. Also since i work in a Datacentre i work in a very loud environment so good nose cancelling headphones are a must so i can listen to metal (especially babymetal) without listening to the 90db+ sounds of the datacentre
I will recommend you try a protein rich lunch as your body will break down the food slower also overnight oats are a great way to start the morning with these two modifications you won't snack as much.
Since you asked, I work in data entry, with little or no human interaction. So I have UA-cam playing on a little window on one of my monitors, and headphones. I like the open plan of your office.
Love these chatty kind of day in the life vlogs! I stayed in Hamamatsucho area in October and so sad I didn't know about that cute coffee shop! I also love one ok rock, good taste Sarah!
Hi! New to your channel- love this!!! You’re so lucky to live in Japan and work there.. I want to travel there one day.. great video! 😊 thanks for sharing.
Your office day looks like office days here in NYC! Except we have the crappy 7-11's, No Lawsons, and expensive lunches. Totally get the combini runs....when I'm in Japan I always grab a ton of stuff at the combini and every time I visit there is always something new to snack on. Most people don't cook here either.. .its a big city kind of thing!
Nice to see behind the scene action! Last time when I had office work they had cafeteria and food restaurant in the bottom floor. In this age I try avoid pizza and too heavy meals (even if they are so delicious). It is odd that there are so few ordinary food restaurants specialized for healthy family cooking in my area.
WOW, I'm japanese, But didn't know that Hamamatsu cho got Byron bay coffee shop 👀☕ !I will definitely check in Byron bay Coffee shop next time I flying in to Japan 🗾. Thank you for up loading this & please enjoy everything you can experience in Japan 😀
Interesting video! I have to admit, before watching this, I had no idea what Tokyo Creative actually was, even though I watch pretty much all their videos, I just viewed it as a "Tokyo based youtube-channel" without really thinking more about it. Also a bit curious on the coffee situation. Swedish offices (at least where I've worked or visited) often have coffee machines offering free coffee to employees and/or visitors, but seeing how that wasn't the case here, I'm getting curious about how it usually is in Japan and other countries.
American here. My old job had a Keurig machine with free coffee. Before the pandemic, my current job had a "coffee club" you could pay into for a couple dollars a month for company coffee, but they stopped that because now everyone has flexible in-office days. I couldn't say which is more common in offices (free coffee or no free coffee) - but I'm guessing the majority of office jobs in the US don't have free coffee.
Yeah we have free coffee at the office too (Finland) with several machines (juras and moccamasters) but unless your company's like super into coffee as a whole, I doubt it's gonna be as good as a specialty coffee shop like in the video. People still drink the free stuff and offer it to visitors (out of habit) but it's not like anyone goes to enjoy a cup because it's good : D I guess it's a nice gesture tho.
We don't really have either of these 😭 At one of the others offices we worked at, they had an instant coffee machine but that also cost $1-1.5 per cup lol
When I was in Japan I fell in love with Ito En jasmine green tea! It was unsweet but the jasmine gave it a natural subtle sweetness, it was sooo yummy! When I got back to America I was lucky enough to find one of our local Asian markets that carries it! I miss a good Lawson and 711 😅 Much love from Arizona
@@seerasan it really is! I've found a good loose leaf green tea with jasmine that I can brew at home. It saves me a bunch of money because I can drink a liter a day probably 😅
I had never worked in office a day in my life, always been an outside field guy myself. Frankly I feel nervous in one thinking I have some paperwork to do. However you have nice causal day it seems.
Hey! I go to the office twice a week sometime three. Always take my lunch cos it’s expensive to eat out in Australia!! I do buy coffee. My work day is busy answering questions all day long. I like it best when there is no one there and I can tune out to music!! Thanks for sharing 😊
First of all I enjoy the TC content and the personal (English) content from TC staff. Thanks for sharing your day. What keyboard and mouse are you using? Thanks!
Interesting. But it feels like all we can see from Enlish speaking people on youtube in Japan are marketing people. It kinda makes sence that these people would be succesfull on youtube and therefore they are all we see. Thank you for sharing your workday with us. It is is very interesting :)
do you prefer wfh or working in the office? I struggle to find motivation at home, but nowadays I'm in a role that has to be workplace based and I prefer it except the time of commuting!
I definitely feel you on the spending money thing when going into the office. I work in San Francisco, we have lots of amazing coffee shops, cafes and little restaurants for lunch so we always eat out. Haha
Awesome Seera! Looks like such a fun day. I work from home so my office is my room lol. Its very comfy but I dont go out to eat at all. Its all home cooked meals. Kinda boring but I save so much money.
Lovin the Emma/Sarah Era of total TC Domination! Also, please no less of that, but also more of Shah and Jordan also please. Also "Yeah, you guys are on cr*ck " hahahahaha
I really didn't expect that there would be a coffee shop in Japan that's straight up named after a location in Australia haha. Not sure why but that really caught me off guard haha. When I think about it though, I suppose it's not really all that different from a shop here in Australia calling itself "Tokyo Sushi" or something similar. I guess it's just one of those things I never really stopped to consider before.
Hi Seersan , I love your video I have just watched . Your office looks so relaxed :) I am currently going to start my own drop shipping business ( well try to anyway) hope you have a lovely working week I look forward to your next video xx
I never really understood the concept of not being late at work, especially when you are not facing the client or offering a physical service. In my company, I will often get emails early in the morning because some of my work colleagues are very motivated and starting at 7am. But honestly, my only duties as an office worker are to get the work done by the end of the day for time sensitive cases, be at time for Zoom of Teams meetings and be available to reply to internal chats when my manager wants to touch base with me for something. She is usually not chatting with me before 9am and she is never mad if I reply 30 or 45 mins later. Nothing is so time sensitive that it will be the apocalypse if I do not reply within 10 minutes. The most urgent requests that my manager ever gave me could be handled before noon. Ok, you have an important meeting this afternoon with a CRE and you need an update on a file assigned to me, it won't be dramatic if you get your update at 11am instead of 9am as long as you get it before your afternoon meeting.
I have a similar job, I create videos for companies to promote what they sell but I do it from home, I'm glad to see there are similar jobs in tokyo, I hope I can move one day
Love the behind the scenes videos like this. Curious how much the commuting costs in addition to eating out on office days and is remote work common in Japan?
Almost all Japanese companies actually pay for transport to and from the office! Which is really nice 🙌 remote work is quite common nowadays, but there’s definitely a shift for everyone to slowly go back into the office (based off my other friends experience working here)
Speaking of red bean croissant, at Tsukiji Market near the tamagoyaki shop there’s an old bakery that sell some pretty good azuki croissants when they come out fresh. However the last time I was there was 2018, so I’m not sure if they still make/sell it
The first thing I do when I get to the office is to turn on Radio Beat (hard-rock, metal and such). It would be weird to work in silence without any background music.
"Spent too much on lunch" Hahahahaha! Have you ever been to Germany? You would pay so much more than what you payed in Japan. There are similar lunchpackages at some supermarkets now, but you would have to pay at least 1200-1500 Yen only for that one. Coffee starts at around 400 yen. The cheaper one from the fridge might also be at 130-200 yen, but especially food is way more expensive here. And way worse in taste!
Nice. Always wondered what your job was. I'm also in a marketing department at my job but as a graphic designer. Hoping I can visit Japan one day and experience their culture.
You have such a chill office environment 🥺 I work in Tokyo too and my office is kinda strict, no music, no headphones, no talking etc 💦 I have a small channel too and I Film my office days but sadly I’m not allowed to Film inside the office 🥺
Seems like a really relaxed and nice environment :) Have you tried covering more normal Japan office work? looking at your Japanese workday makes me not like my Japanese workday very much LOL
That's because it's a free seat system at this office, where each time you come in you have to pick any seat that's available. I think this is quite common in certain industries here and they'll have lockers for employees to store their belongings. It does keep the place clean & organised, which is nice! Not sure if it's a thing in Australia.. probably not that common.
The plastic bag from the groceries is the least of my worries. From what it looks like, almost everything is packed in plastic in Japan. Single use plastic for cutlery, caps, containers, wrappings, ... . Looks nice and clean, very Japanese, but it is a mess if we are being honest. Just look at the images at 16:29.
I have an office job and I listen to vaporwave/mallsoft/video game music mixes. My job is pretty boring and the office a morgue so the music really helps.
When I'm using CAD, I'll ususally play music which helps me to focus more as it relaxes me (Listening to most genres but 80s, 90s, metal, rock, grunge, some pop and Johny Cash tend to be what I focus on the most when I'm needing to unwind especially when I've got all the measurements but forgot one but I'm too lazy to measure it, so math it which I'm getting better at mathing but not so much with remembering to get all measurements haha) and sometimes I'll have a UA-cam playlist of Neebs Gaming, as listening to them and laughing at them laughing and failing at games just perks me up
As a fellow Brit I was equally confused every time you called candy kittens cat lollies 😂 they are very good though. Enjoying this video on my lunch break too. Thanks for sharing your day with us 😊 Edit: sorry was unclear, I said fellow Brit because her colleague is British and I was agreeing with him haha
Australians have their own language it involves words like "lollies", "maccas", and "arvo". and such and so forth 😋 btw I am just repeated words i've heard back like a magpie for your convenience 😅 *typing in American*
are you really "working"... or eating?! jk 😂😂 stumbled upon your channel & it's perfect for the lazy/laid-back (& rainy) weekend out here in Cali. *drooling* 😅

It was very interesting to see what a normal day at the office is as well. As someone who is still in school it’s cool to see the process
Sarah is a treasure of a person. Also, I didn't think she does so much behind the scenes stuff in TC!
this office is so cool - it looks like a startup but without the pressure and BS!

This was such a fun vlog! Way to take something mundane and typical like going to an office and buying coffee and making it fun and entertaining!
Kudos for learning the language, surviving and sharing
My office day is earphones in, podcasts/audiobooks on, eye contact and interactions with others kept to the bare minimum.
Same, just music instead, I even splurged on a pair of Boses for that
I go into the office once a week and it usually costs me $25 for food because San Francisco is expensive! Loved this day at the office video!
Sometimes just buying food (even if it's pricey) gives you that peace of mind & less stress.. I've heard SF is quite expensive 😅

Single use plastic for cutlery, caps, containers, wrappings, ... . Looks nice and clean, very Japanese, but it is a mess if we are being honest. Just look at the images at 16:29.
It is really over the top here with plastic sadly 🥲🥲
My work day certainly looks different to yours 😁 And I am not referring to snacking...
Thank you very much for your posting!

I sometimes buy lunch(rice ball🍙) at 7-11 or Family Mart🍱
私は時々、セブンイレブンやファミリーマートで、ランチ(おにぎり🍙)を買います🍱
I am a cashier at our local grocery store, while also trying to get my photography business to work.
Good luck with your photography business 😊📸
I have an office job and I listen to vaporwave/mallsoft/video game music mixes. My job is pretty boring and the office a morgue so the music really helps.
I thought you are a full time youtuber, but you has a regular job!
Really liked this video 🙏❤️
When I'm using CAD, I'll ususally play music which helps me to focus more as it relaxes me (Listening to most genres but 80s, 90s, metal, rock, grunge, some pop and Johny Cash tend to be what I focus on the most when I'm needing to unwind especially when I've got all the measurements but forgot one but I'm too lazy to measure it, so math it which I'm getting better at mathing but not so much with remembering to get all measurements haha) and sometimes I'll have a UA-cam playlist of Neebs Gaming, as listening to them and laughing at them laughing and failing at games just perks me up
Konbini bread looking unreasonably good 👍🏼
As a fellow Brit I was equally confused every time you called candy kittens cat lollies 😂 they are very good though.
Enjoying this video on my lunch break too. Thanks for sharing your day with us 😊
Edit: sorry was unclear, I said fellow Brit because her colleague is British and I was agreeing with him haha
Isn't she Australian/German?
She's Australian
Australians have their own language it involves words like "lollies", "maccas", and "arvo". and such and so forth 😋 btw I am just repeated words i've heard back like a magpie for your convenience 😅 *typing in American*
@@4140ajjI think they were referring to the guy she was with, who was probably also British
@@marenello99 fair enough 👍
are you really "working"... or eating?! jk 😂😂
stumbled upon your channel & it's perfect for the lazy/laid-back (& rainy) weekend out here in Cali.
*drooling* 😅
original Terran StarCraft soundtrack for productivity at work. if you’re into that kind of thing
I have a feeling you’re going to go from behind the camera/scenes to in front of it. Amazing video!
Very chill and easygoing video, love it
When speaking, do you ever codeswitch between languages ? :) I natively speak four languages and I codeswitch like mad without even realising it.
Can you use your own bags at stores? Is the trend in Tokyo or Japan moving towards people using their own bags?
