This video holds the great honour of being the first battle report to ever make me motion sick. I feel like I've just woken up on day 2 of a tournament and warned my opponent that I might barf on the table. Awe inspiring stuff.
I think halfway through the video you see my face when I seem to clock that it's not just 'the last might point' like gamlings. Far too cracked ~Elliot
i'm not sure how you have got a hold of such a fantastic cameraman! keep up the good work! We dont get to see lots of battle reps anymore as everyone is doing podcasts! (lazy gits) so keep up the good work chaps.
i always run a pretty big ranged chunk with my dwarfs.(rangers or ballista) having to advance on a position full of stationary archers and just take what they dish out does not feel good and it forces you down a single course of action . sure shooting needs 6s or worse to wound, but there are enough cheatsy elvses (for example)running about with rivendell dice that the early damage can be substantial.🤣 being able to hit back/force movement does a lot to widen your tactical options.
particularly fond of what i call 'dwarven cheescake' (cause layers😁). mix of warden teams and rangers with bow+throwing. set up front rank shields, second rank ranger third rank spears. can shoot from behind D9 and once the lines close the warden shields run to each side, leaving the rangers to charge with throwing weapons and spear support. even with -1 and without supports, shielding wardens dont die quickly and keep flanks secure while you have a lot of killing power to gut the enemy centre. (if they charge my shields first, the rangers swap places with the foe spears and the archers go wide instead) can do it with iron guard instead of rangers for even more combat oomph, but you lose the bows.
Love the concept behind this!!! I don't own any rangers otherwise I'd deffo sprinkle some in. Just got my ballista painted although I'm not sure how much damage it'd do in the 1/2 rounds of shooting it normally gets ~Elliot
i tend to save durin+mardin for 800+. but i've got a 700 list with dwarf king with throw, kings champ and captain with shield+throw. 8 warden teams, 12 rangers(bow+throw), 3 ironguard and 4 khazad (to sit on objectives). 40 models, 12 bows (17 throwing weapons) and 6 might. 699 points. does pretty well, even into elves. thats it, speechifying done. sorry for the essay😂
@@anyheroics i realise you know more than me about the game in general, but here's my take on dwarven specifics. a ballista is more about threatening your opponent to avoid hit zones, rather than actual damage. forcing them to move where you want. but in terms of kills, there are a couple of ways to get max value. if you can set it wide on a flank and angle your troop formations, you can get some sick shots down the enemy spear supports, even after the lines clash. another (bit odder) way is to plant it front and centre into your shield wall. no friendly LOS blockers and anything trying to dismantle it has to sit in front of it and guarantee a shot(no control zone on the siege piece). having to spend a FULL turn to break it means you always have chances to pull the enemy away into combat if they dont die. couple other wee ways to finesse it but as i said, ballista do most of their value before they even fire.
It was a custom rule set for a tournament we had the weekend after, if you pause near the start of the video I've popped both rules pages for it:) ~Elliot

Well we do aim to impress (Jordan had the camera taken off him shortly afterwards)

I enjoy the pod, but this...this bat rep is who you guys are. I've missed it and I'm loving the energy!
OMG Yes new batreps AND with my army and Dwarves! Seriously, you guys are the coolest ❤
Edit: ngl, not in love with the home rules. A bit broken

Cannot believe I’ve missed Any Heroics playing KD. I fell off my bed with the DMX Mardin meme. Up the Sons of Durin!!!

It felt like an eternity before anyone starting swinging axes…
And here I thought dwarves were very dangerous over short distances.

The broken banner really broke my feelings man... 😥
It broke me in more ways than one:(

Did you say in the beginning that durins warband has a guy with a 6 inch banner? Who's that?
