I have a theory about Marika’s children. As we know all the children share some part of their parents name (Godfrey and Godwin, Marika and Miquella, Renala and Ranni). However, Morgott and Mohg do not share the prefix of “God” like their brother Godwin. Instead they share the “M” associated with the children of Radagon and Marika. I believe that The Omen twins are not Godfrey’s kids, but that he took them in knowingly or unknowingly because we know he had some sort of relationship with Morgott. Whenever Marika and Radagon have children they are born with a curse or some affliction. To take this even further I would like to look at Melina and Mesmer. Their characters both revolve around flame. Mesmer’s Flame and Melina being the kindling maiden could be a coincidence, but I don’t believe that. It would make at least some sense if Melina and Mesmer were twins as well because they both have to do with fire, and they share the “M” of the children of Marika and Radagon. So to summarize, I believe that Marika and Radagon were always one being and they first gave birth to Mesmer and Melina. Then after Marika married Godfrey and had Godwin she gave birth to Morgott and Mohg, but they weren’t her kids, they were Radagon’s. And then finally Marika gave birth to Miquella and Melania.
Simplest answer is that they took the M from Marika, no need to complicate it. One interesting thought is that Godfrey and the rest with the “god-” name took that name purposefully to liken themselves to gods, but Mohg and Morgott were locked away so they didn’t need to be named that way. Maybe Marika specifically didn’t want them to have the respect that came with the name because they could become a rallying symbol for her enemies, so she broke the “god-“ naming convention.
Morgott and mohgs entire motivation comes from being marikas sons they definitely both came out of her and also not many people caught this line of dialogue but melina wasn’t born from a mother she basically confirms it during bocs quest VERY rare dialogue to get though
