As a cat caregiver, my favorite is World's Best (light, easy to scoop, minimal mess, odor control) & my least favorite is Feline Pine (ugh the sifting & dislike the smell)!
Thank you for taking the time comparing all of those litters. I thought it was so funny watching your cat look at his box. Hes probably thinking what the heck something different again? Lol
😹 Thankfully he's a good sport with trying out the litters! Thanks for watching :)
I use World's Best (red bag). Its not advertised as non tracking, but trust me it is non tracking and the best odor control of any of the roughly dozen brands I've tried over the years.
Cats are actually allergic to lavender so I don’t even know why they sell lavender-scented litter. I found this out after the fact but my poor little kitty was always sneezing after using the litterbox. It’s been Dr. Elsey’s unscented for me ever since
Great point! Interestingly they don't list lavender as an ingredient, so I'm not sure if there is real lavender or just a fragrance. I'm sorry to hear your cat had a bad reaction to it, either way! I'm glad Dr. Elsey's is working well for you!
I would love if you included how dusty each litter is. I'm not concerned about tracking as much as I am dust. I use Arm & Hammer Litter Cloud Control Platinum and so far it's the least dusty I've tried.
Thanks for the suggestion! I will to try to talk more about the dust in future videos
Agreed. Clay litters are usually super-dusty. And I've tried silica litters in the past, and they're usually OK for the first week, but after that they seem to break down and the act of scooping will send huge plumes of (noxious) dust into the air.
My best for dust, so far, have been the grass/wheat-based litters, like SmartCat. They're also good at clumping, and decent for odor control. Unfortunately, they're *terrible* for tracking...
Great reviews on all the cat litters. The last one that provided a box with the litter surprised me because if a liner isn't used, the cat waste would definitely seep through and cause a major odor issue. And the price point along with having to constantly change boxes? That would be a no go for me. Too much waste and expense. What has worked for my cat is a stainless steel litter box and tidy cat unscented. I learned from Jackson Galaxy's channel that cats don't favor scented litter.
I've had a lot of success with Arm & Hammer Slide.
Glad you are happy with it. I started with Slide, but switched to A&H Multi-cat when I found it cheaper at a local market. They don't carry Slide. Happy Feline Friday!
My cat loves the Boxie litter cause it’s gentle on his paws and doesn’t bother his nose. I guess for the same reasons it may be a poor experience for the cat owner (tracking and weak masking) are the very same reasons a cat might enjoy it (gentle on paws, odorless). I also put a large litter mat under his litter that traps litter pieces stuck to the paws and his litter is in an unused corner of the house so I don’t experience the extent of issues you experienced. Nevertheless great vid!
Arm & Hammer double duty hard clump has worked well for me. Competitive pricing and was much better than Purina instant action. Purina odor control was bad and tracked all over the house. Crazy part was it cost about $4 more for 5lbs less
A litter mat works good too. I got one at target 😊
I just use a throw rug, which works well.
@@SeanBZA great ideal thanks!
Agreed! That's a good reminder I should get a new litter mat 😺
Clean paws is my favorite litter for the exact reason you mentioned😊
Having 10 cats, this video was extremely helpful!!
I took the advice of my sister and got the Tidy Cat clumping litter, it was awful. My kitty did not like it he would be throwing litter around he wasn't pleased at all. It smelled awful as well! After watching a couple of these types of videos, I tried Arm and Hammer multi cat clumping litter and omg my Cobain and I absolutely love it! Great odor control and very little tracking 👏 👍. Affordable as well! He's a happy boy and mommy is too! 😸😊
I'm glad to hear the Arm & Hammer litter is working well for you!
Enjoyable video. I use Arm & Hammer Multi-Cat clumping litter (the red label). It has baking soda, of course, for odor control, and is a fine grain. Very little tracking from my two cats. A mostly homemade diet also helps with preventing odors. Instead of filling the litter box with litter, I make a mound in the middle. The cats naturally go to that. Saves a lot of litter. I top off as needed, after scooping out the clumps. I pay $10.99 for a 20 lb. box at a local grocery store. It is often on sale for $8.99. Happy Feline Friday!
Agreed 💯! I and my Cobain disliked the Tidy Cat clumping litter. It was everywhere and it smelled bad! Arm and Hammer clumping is excellent in odor control and hardly tracks anywhere. Good product 👌.
I use Petsafe scoop-free crystals $$ as well as Fresh Step crystals $$$. The only difference is the price. I love them both as the crystals absorb the moisture out of the poop, rendering it odorless pretty quickly. It lasts much longer than clay and it only tracks - in my situation - due to my cats being 14 months and 7 months old. They literally run out of the box after doing their business. Not much can be done about that.
I use a different Tidy Cats. The standard throw the whole works out, non-scented one. It used to be great. About 20 years ago it tracking became awful. I didn't have a problem at all before this. A couple of my cats were getting old so I though this was why. But once they were gone I was still having the problem. What did they change that the quality went down?
I was using World’s Best for a while because I wanted a flushable clumping litter, but the tracking was really bad. I was vacuuming around the litter box (high-sided) at least twice per day and would even notice little dusty paw prints on dark rugs and furniture in other rooms. I switched to Really Great cat litter and it has been really great… tracking is so much better! It’s still flushable and clumping. And if there are any pieces, that make it outside the litter box, they’re super easy to clean up. There are also no more dusty paw prints anywhere. My only issues with Really Great have been the price (which is comparable to other tofu litters), the subscription service is a little annoying (although they’re customer service is amazing!), and it’s not the easiest litter to scoop. I was considering trying the Catit litter as a slightly cheaper option than tofu litter, but the fact that it’s scented makes me hesitant.
Why do brands add lavender smell if they are toxic to cats? So weird, even if it's artificial, I still feel weird using it
To use wood litter effectively you need a sifting litter box. With my cat I only get literally 2 or 3 pieces outside the sifting litter box as pine pellets are large. The pieces exiting the litter box are from her digging and covering and not from tracking. The pieces are too big to track.
I'll have to look into some sifting box options if I try the wood litter again!
Adorable cat in the video !
😺
Also, instead of a vacuum, I find a lobby broom and pan to be a more effective in a daily cleanup before and after scooping the litter box; hand held vacuum cleaners have to be emptied immediately.
That's a good idea!
My mother has two cats, uses World’s Best and is very happy with it. I have two and use Dr. Elsey’s; my experience matches the reviewer’s.
I am interested in Scoop Away brand which is sold by Costco.
Good suggestion to check out Scoop Away!
I caught my cats holding cat litter in-between they paws after leaving box now im wondering if they actually spread it on purpose because they like seeing me sweep.
Can you test out Paco and Pepper olive pit litter? Thank you!
We use Boxie Cat and love the oderless litter. It doesn't cause a bad smell either (so good oder control for us), and 6 cats prefer it over other clay litters. It has almost no tracking, but we do use a litter mat with holes to catch "escapees." The best thing about this litter is that it is dust free, unlike others that claim to be but aren't.
Odor is spelled with two Os, no Es.
@@cherylmcnutt9905 The burden of a polyglot: sometimes, languages/spelling get mixed up 😆
@cherylmcnutt9905
I spell it odourless, but spellcheck says that's wrong
You said the grey litter wasn't as noticeable. How about when you end up stepping on it and it crushes into a bigger mess? I dont think that "noticeability" is a good criteria for reviewing a litter.
Most everyone I know is experiencing hardships with thier finances these days. I do see people at the store spending ridiculous prices on tiny containers of litter. I have used tidycat for at least 50 years. It controls odor as much as you could expect it to....I clean my boxes once a day an always expect to shake out the adult bed liner they sit on an maybe need to wisk broom a tiny bit as well. It DOES NOT get tracked away from the box an I refuse to pay more than 10 dollars for something that goes in the trash everyday!
I just bought my cat Nature fresh litter walnut shell yesterday is this one good. Please test this one.Thank you.
Thanks for the tip!
Fresh Step Clean Paws is the best clay litter Ive tried.
I always buy unscented and even though this one does have a bit of a scent it's not a scented scent.
Doesn't really track at all, it's just a great litter.
Glad to hear you found a litter that is working well for you!
My favorite is Cats Pride scoopable in the blue container. Low tracking and virtually dust free.
I'm going to have to look at this one, finding one low on dust is just as important as low odor to me.
I used to use that litter, but then couldn't find it for the longest time. I ended up switching to grass litter. Absolutely no dust, great on odor, but it does track.
@@jeannettebarnes2193
I've always gotten it at Walmart, but sometimes they are out and I get the Cats Pride in the white container.
@@jeannettebarnes2193
I didn't see it for awhile. I get it at Walmart. Sometimes, I get the Cats Pride Scoopable in the white container, although it is a little too fragrant for me.
Feline Pine is for me. My cats are fine with it for years now.
I'm glad to hear Feline Pine is working well for you!
The best litter is clumping litter with a light color no matter what I have tried pine walnut wood corn the best is clumping for me. Tracking is always there but less with mat and sweeping Boxie cat is to expensive Tidy cat is pretty good.
All that being said, in the end, it is what does your cat like and use best - afterall it should be about the cat not us.
When my cats pay for the litter, they can choose which brand! LOL I use one that is a fine sand, after a year, they seem ok with it. .
I agree besides the fact that I don’t want my house smelling like cat poop everyday lol
is Tofu litter something that the USA doesn't use? or it's just not as popular?
You should try some of the grass seed litters
Thanks for the suggestion!
I don't buy SCENTED LITTER! I my cat only uses Unscented.
Has anyone tried Paco & Pepper? My cat likes Feline Pine, but I’m curious about P&P as a clumping option
I haven't tried that yet, but I'll take a look!
Super weird that Intersand hasn't been on your website even though it's a pretty big brand. Do you only review litter that companies send you?
Hey! We don't received any freebies, all the products on the video were purchased with out own money. We'll add Intersand to our list
I've never heard of intersand. Where is that available?
@@jeannettebarnes2193 neighborhood pet stores or online. Some have a bulk refillable bucket for half the cost of bagged
There is no such thing as non tracking litter . A cordless vacuum is the only solution. And using it all the time.
Agreed I haven't been able to find anything with no tracking at all!
Honiture cordless stick vac 450 watts on Amazon is super handy. I use dr elseys respiratory relief isn’t dusty but it does track some.
You should never use those litter box liners...cats don’t like them.also don’t use scented litter
My cats would always tear them up when digging
Gordon doesn't seem to mind them, and they make it much easier when I'm testing various litters back to back. I may try to go without them though and see how it goes!
@@AllAboutCatsYTi wouldnt recommended using liners for litter boxes made for pellets. My cats tore the plastic and the pee went everywhere. Id recommend just putting some pelletd on the bottom tray to minimize spillage
The catit vanilla is very low smell. I'm not a fan of the smell of the lavender. (I'm sensitive to smells).
I currently use Substainably yours large grain. (The other 2 track way to much) its what I have found to be the most effective for my litter robot with the least amount of track. It's ridiculously expensive, but I haven't found better.
good
I like the Fresh Step Unscented too! I just wish that its not that dusty 😢
Ah yes dust can definitely be a problem with clay!
I used Dr Elsey for a year or so and there’s a lot of dust. Clay litters being breathed into tiny cat nostrils isn’t good. Kind of disappointing that a lot of the litters tested are Clay based.
Dust is definitely a downside of clay. We will try to incorporate other types of litter in the future!
My Cat doesnt use Clay , or Crystal. I buy Ococat, Grass .
I Always buy litter that's easy on my cats paws. I think about my Cat walking on hard litter. I PREFER LITTER THATS EASIER ON MY CATS PAWS.
Totally agree that's important! Which kind of litter do you like to use?
Grass , Wood, Paper pellets.
I'm more concerned with dust since I have asthma. Also in the video you keep saying how a litter would hurt you if you stepped on a piece. Your cat has to step in it so that should be a bigger concern. If the cat doesn't like the litter they won't use it.
Catit
What happened to Mallory? Haven't seen her in a while..
she was replaced.
This was addressed in previous videos and in the Community forum on the channel's home page.
Where did Mallory go?!
Yes! I've been wondering the same thing!

Hey! Where is Mallory. We miss her!
I don't buy Clay litter !
Which type of litter do you prefer?
I buy Wood , Grass, Pellets.. No SCENTED Ones. Only
Why the sister of the previous presenter is doing the reviews???
The sister of the previous presenter is much better than Sarah. Don't insult E!

I'm not so concerned with tracking, but the effect over time with my cat ingesting the litter underneath her paws when she licks them. Litter was found on my cat's stomach and digestive track on an X-Ray which my vet said is not uncommon and is to be expected.
Oh no! I hope your cat is doing ok 💛
please review bed sheets
I Dont use SCENTED. Litter, I Dont Flush litter !
