Hallo, Porsche wurden auch bei der deutschen Polizei/Autobahnpolizei benutzt/gefahren, so in den 60er 70er Jahren oder auch 80er. Die Autos stehen irgendwo im Polizei Museum. Es waren 356/911 und auch 924/944. Heute gibt es Polizei Porsche eher als Show Cars.
Back in the day I had a 1987 Mustang fox body 5.0. It was black of course and the CHP was using them on the freeways. Boy did people freak out when I would come up behind them :)

Nope, you forget about gearing. They top out at 150. The 1969 CHP Polera held the record at the test track in Chelsea, MI for highest speed achieved in a police car at 149.6 MPH. It was beaten in 1994 by a Chevy Caprice with an LT1 engine. Cops are using Chargers and Challengers now with the HEMI. My V6 2015 Mustang would destroy a Polera. I've gone 158 MPH and my 0-60 is 6.5 seconds. On a track.
@rodneyking4183 I hate Mopar but that Polara in the 70's got to 60 in under 6sec amd to have a top speed of 150ish in a 3spd auto is pretty crazy. You should tell all the law enforcement to just buy a v6 mustang so they can catch all the bad guys easily🤣.

Mercedes used to supply the German Autobahn police with E63AMG V12 estates. The only performance modification was the removal of the electronic limiter which pushed the top speed to something between 207 and 210mph. Of course the Bavarian police bought BMW M5 V10 wagons instead.

Florida Highway Patrol uses Chargers and Challengers but they use the standard 5.7 hemi as well as Undercover Mustang 5.0s. However it is rumored that some Dodge units are equipped with the 392 scat pack engine.
At the end of the day these are fleet vehicles that are used daily and used hard so they need to be easily maintained while remaining within a certain budget. The boosted hemis that come with the hellcats and demons put an additional cost on that.
Then again I wouldn't be surprised if FHP had a Hellcat or Demon tucked away somewhere ready to roll at any time.
The Demon is slower on top speeds than a Hellcat or especially a Redeye Charger. Thr Demon won't break 169 mph. Its just quicker than a Redeye in a drag race, NOT as fast on top end. The Demon is not made for stability at super high speeds like the Charger Hellcat and Charger Redeye. The Charger body style is also more aero with less wind drag than the Challenger body and the Charger has a higher top speed, while the Challenger is slightly lighter and slightly quicker in the quater mile. The quarter mile is NOT about top speeds !

This is why the hellcat is such a monster, its built strong (suspension wise) its super fast, and if you black out the head lights and brake lights at night youll be looking for a ghost. Hell cops cant even catch em in the day light.
That porsche would run out of gas before the robber. Most these vehicles get terrible gas miles. Japan might be the only vehicle that could catch their suspect before running out unless the bad guy can somehow stay ahead. Noy sure Japan does pit manuvers.

I love watching high speed chases in the movies. Real world chasees are often idiots who injure/kill people as they flee. Cops with fast cars are just showing off and goading on a chase. These cars can only respond to crime scenes quickly.
My buddy gave the OPP a Mustang and no, it's not stock. Both the motor and suspension was full of aftermarket parts. I don't know how fast it is but ill bet it tops out well over 200 MPH. He just finished a VW that dose 11s in the quarter mile and is now working on his Carman Gia with a 6 cylinder and it only weighs 1600 pounds

All these car specs are BEFORE adding in the sometimes HUGE and horrible aerodynamic police lights on the roof. There is almost no way they would hit this speeds with those lights on and more likely than not, the lights would get ripped off at those speeds.

You forgot about the red eye hellcat that Georgia State patrol use. It's pushing over a thousand horsepower, and it can go 232 mph. And with it being a police vehicle it is all-wheel drive. Not to mention they have ram bars and are frequently used on the highways and cities. So whatever Corvette you had is useless compared to this.

The reaility is cops really on need cars fast enough to beat old cars, as in modern days if they were allowed they could use remote software and shut off cars its why most cars past 2010 that have GPS are screwed but thefts still happen

Well back in the 1980's North Wales police had Austin Maestro's! Check those bad boys out! In the 60's & 70's German police had VW Beetle's. So slow that all you could catch was a cold! In the 60's UK Metropolitan Police had to buy Jaguar Mark 2's to keep up with & catch the criminals in their Jag Mark 2's & Lotus Cortina's. Their Austins, Wolseleys & even their Daimler Dart SP250 sports cars were not fast enough.
