The Maserati Biturbo engine was NOT the engine of the SM. It did share the 90º V angle and consequent irregular firing (both had three crank throws, unlike most V6's). But the Biturbo was SOHC as opposed to the SM's DOHC, and it did not have the complex two-stage camshaft drive with a half-speed intermediate shaft. The Maserati Merak did have SM engine, as well as the Citroen transmission.

The next one was planned to have a version of the Grand National GNX turbo V6. In that body, it would have been the fastest mass production car in the world! The Chevy guys didn't want a rival to their own 2-seater sports car, the Corvette. So they whined and cried to GM until they got Fiero canceled. Pontiac was furious. So to give the finger to Chevy, they put the turbo V6 into their anniversary Trans Am GTA! Which made it faster than the Vette.

I had an electric blue 88 Conquest Tsi about 30 years ago. Absolutely hate myself for selling that car. It was incredible except for the stupid door mounted seat belts.

They self leveling height adjustable hydropneumatc suspension had 3 manually selected driving ride heights. Only the power steering was variable with speed. Not the suspension.

I will put up the CA Highway Patrol Explorers and the high speed pursuit cars the Dodge Chargers. The CA Highway Patrol when adopting the Explorer went back to Ford with a modification, which Ford instantly put in place. The power of economics. Just a side, the bad guys may have faster cars, but they cannot outrun radio!
