      I'm a DoorDash driver and I've observed that lots of my orders are from families w kids, so it looks like convenience (not having the hassle of loading/unloading the kids, driving, etc) is worth it for a lot of people in that case :)

    • @bestieswithtesties546
      @bestieswithtesties546 5 років тому +47

      How is that crazy? It is common sense. Humans have paid extra for convenience since the dawn of time. Not to mention there's a lot more to it than just people being lazy. There are plenty of reasons someone would rather order their food then go get it. There is nothing crazy about it, what's crazy is that it took so long for someone to think of such a genius idea.

    I do uber, Uber eats,Lyft, and Postmates. All can be good depending how lucky you get along with some strategy. I do Lyft in the mornings during the week since you get $60 bonus if you get 30 peak rides and 45 total rides(which pays my gas for those rides during the week) then I'll jump on Postmates during lunch hour , and back on uber or Lyft around 4-7pm and Postmates is great about 6pm to midnight. Usually tips are good since dinner orders are more expensive than lunch orders. Long story short , know when to drive on which platform and you can do pretty well.
    Weekends are good with any platform, I've made $40-50 an hour with Postmates on sat/sun and actually prefer food deliveries vs driving around drunk ppl and dealing with personalities...usually I'll do uber eats and Postmates when I need a break from talking to ppl lol

      Claudia Yeah, I don’t own a bike sadly so I’d have to walk. I’m new to Postmates so I didn’t get myself ready start my first ever delivery yet. I have anxiety but I want to earn money for the sake my wellbeing and my family. Anyways, hopefully I could grind enough on there to be able to purchase a bike.

    • @Claudia-ci4ci
      @Claudia-ci4ci 5 років тому +13

      Joel Pirela yes.. you can do just fine as a walker. I recommend you do the busy hours. I actually do postmates as a walker and do well you just have to know when to ride the wave and stay in areas that are busy you’ll do fine. As far as the anxiety that’s normal just stay cool and remember to check the order, grab condiments and napkins, and always say hello and smile when you give them their order. The more you do it the better you’ll do.

    The reason you can’t get a high rating on door dash is because the rating is 1-5 and if you think about it even if the customers gives you a 4 which is pretty high rating it still is dropping your rating because it’s a solid 4 they honestly need to fix there rating chart in my opinion

Ewww if one of your duties is bathroom rotation too. The difference is suppose to be employee or self employ but both are basically employee if you're on Uber, only difference is you can go off shift at will.

    Thanks for sharing this. I respect the hard work and dedication you are putting into this. I always meet the delivery person curbside so that they do not have to figure out these high rise apartments and I normally leave my apartment couple of minutes before they arrive. But after watching this, I realized I am definitely not tipping enough; the tip should be more than 20% or at least 5-6 dollars for a small order. You guys are putting so much effort into this, it needs more rewarding.

    Postmates I hardly get orders and it averages out to $12-$15/hr. Ubereats constantly getting orders. $19-$20/hr most the time only bad part is you might end up picking up food around the corner then surprise delivery is 15 miles away. Though always payed for. Postmates order and wait. Doordash only done once. Decent pay probably will average out to $16+ hour. But the bad part is you can only choose to dash in one neighborhood. With postmates and Ubereats you can go anywhere you want. If you are going home from work and want to pick up close to home sometimes that’s an option.
    Postmates close to home, but lower pay. And have to order food and wait. Plus sometimes you can be online for hours without a single order.
    Ubereats almost constantly getting orders. Prepaid always. No card given. Higher pay. Near and far deliveries. Rarely is it ever 1- a few miles away. Typically 5-10 +
    Doordash limited to smaller zone. And ratings too.

    Postmates does have automatic transfer of funds. Just add a card on your account and it costs 50 cents to transfer immediately. They pay every Monday otherwise and it can take a couple days to show up in your bank account. Tips can be frustrating because customers can take forever to give you a tip or not give you one - they don't have to deal with the tip screen until they want to use the Postmastes app again. All of my customers who have tipped I see the tip show up the next morning from the day it's sent.

    I did grocery shopping for a postmates customer before. And mind you, you dnt get paid while your walking around the grocery and shopping... you clock in or start to get paid once you get the receipt and u start heading to customers place. My shopping took 20 mins not including the drive to the grocery. Once i got the receipt, my trip to the house was just less than 10 mins at night. Its been awhile but i got paid a total of 15$ plus tip.

      Have you tried instacart? They pay you 40 cents per item plus an hourly guarantee in alot of areas and they also add on 5 dollars if the order is large. Plus tips.

    • @SherriShelleyMarshal
      @SherriShelleyMarshal 5 років тому +2

      No, Alyssa Campbell, not true in all areas. Here in Florida-No hourly guarantee, and that 40 cents (depends on whether it's a peak day or not-delivery fees and item commissions could be less) is only for the first item of like items, 1 bag of chips=40 cents, 20 bags of chips=40 cents. Could be bags of chips or cases of water, don't matter.
      IF the order is over $100 you may get a large order bump. Usually it's closer to $200 when that kicks in. You do not get distance pay going to the store-so if you are pinged to go to the store 30 miles away from where you are-nothing for the drive there, ONLY if the customer is over 14 miles from the store after the shop then you get distance pay-BUT if it's a multiple order, then there is no long distance pay-even if one or more customers are over 14 miles.
      Unless the customer gives you a cash tip or gives you a 5 star rating so that you can see their comments (only comments you can physically see) AND they say in their comment how much they tip you, chances are very good you will not get what they actually tip you.
      I had a shop for $296.92. The customer had her phone with her after I unloaded all the groceries into her house. She thanked me and showed me as she hit the 25% for a tip. The tip SHOULD have been almost $74, what showed up in my "earnings" when the shop posted two hours later was $48.63. NOT even 20%. It is just over 15%. I should have asked her to screenshot it and send it to me. My daughter-in-law had a shop for over $600. When the shop posted to her earnings tab, she had been tipped $40 in the app. Two hours later the tip had been CHANGED to $20. She didn't screenshot it either. Can't prove what you don't have pictures of. Too many shops here lately, and I mean multiple times on a daily basis, many of us drivers have had no tip at all. Yet we all maintain 5 star ratings and almost every shop has had a customer comment about the great service.
      You are put on a timer to do your shop. Some times are reasonable, some have a bit too much time, but most are ridiculous to the amount of items that need to be picked. No time is allotted for the deli-and heaven forbid it if there are lines or the customer wants multiple items from there. NOT to mention if any product is out and the customer wants a say on every replacement-BUT does NOT respond right away to any questions you post to them. Or when the customer is constantly bombarding you with "Can you check prices on this or that?" or "Add this and this and this and this to my list." And the checkout times are counted in your shop times too-again-no time alloted for when all lanes are packed with customers spilling over into the isles. OR how about when the IC card won't work...or the app freezes...and/or support lines are too busy to answer your call and the automated voice hangs up on you??
      Shall we add the delivery times? Yes, let's. You are given a time by which you should have the groceries delivered. YET-the customer's time of delivery from IC is NOT your time of delivery from IC. Way to many times the customer is NOT even home because they didn't think you'd be there before the time they were given. And their time could be anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour AFTER the time you were told to have it delivered by. AND if you call support-you can be told you HAVE to sit there and WAIT for the customer to arrive because THEY (the customer) still have (fill n the blank) minutes til their allotted delivery time. Meaning YOU didn't deliver the groceries to the customer by the allotted time. EVEN if you were there 10-15-20 minutes early to the time you were told you had to be there.
      Add to all that- right now -chances are very good you are doing your shops and deliveries in heavy, at times even torrential, thunderstorm rains. Thank you Hurricane season.
      Didn't mean to rant on-just could not help myself. I just don't want anyone filled with delusions or half information. IF you want to try Instacart-then by all means-please do-here's my referral code: SHERRIS4013B . I run about middle on the leaderboard and I make enough to pay my bills-that makes me happy. My daughter-in-law, on the other hand, busts her ass 50-70 hours a week and is just killing it. She's number 1 on the leaderboard and brings in between $800-$1100 a week, not including a few other perks of the trade. EVEN with the issues listed above and sometimes even with her kids in tow. So, in reality, she could be looking at $1500 easy during weeks the app runs right, the shop goes smooth, the customers are all home, as well as her kids, working the same 50-70 hours.
      To anyone reading this-it's all true, every word, the issues as well as the possible monies to be made. I wish you and yours a very blessed and prosperous day.

    The other thing I've noticed about Postmates pay and this is probably an update Postmates has done since this video. I did a delivery Thur night and one tonight. Both of those I have the option of immediate payout (at least the before tip pay with a $0.50 fee) either separately or together. And if I don't do the instant cash I get my payout weekly on Wednesday according to the help center. And I say according to the help center because I haven't worked a full week yet lol. But I do know it is weekly pay according to my friend I signed up under.

      AmberAisha Moncrief I use DD in the the bay area and i think success is based mostly on knowledge of location and grid u decide to schedule in (for gas, and customers)..the dublin/sanramon area is most efficient cause the road layout is easiest and the orders are consistently more $$ and ppl tip better over there. Lets say someones payin for a 55$ order and u make 8 bucks in berkeley..many times in dublin people pay for just a 14$ order and u still make 10-11 bucks per order..the distance aint too bad either

I think doordash did a purge because a lot of people got removed on Valentine's Day and I was one of those people and I also heard about doordash getting hacked, I'm wondering if I was in that Crossfire but in any case I've been out of doordash now for a few weeks and I tried Postmates and I hate how Postmates pays you versus how doordash gives you weekly pay and I felt like I made more with doordash and I'm hella salty about them just randomly deactivating my account without reason. I mean it could be my reading but in any case my acceptance rate and my completion rate we're at a 98% to 100% And I did 670 deliveries

    I agree about the customer ratings. It does destroy morale. I think what applies to how people treat a waiter/waitress speaking to who they are, should also apply to how they treat the delivery person. Also being on time ratings do not take into account when the restaurant is slow or when they have given you your next assignment that is fifteen minutes away from where you are currently delivery. I found the busy areas and higher tipping areas. I will try all three. I take the smaller amounts because the travel distance is not far. Watched you when I first started. Had to come back because I was ready to stop for a while.
    Apartment complexes and college campuses can be difficult to deliver.

    Not true in NYC
    Most customers have deliver to door and they expect you to go to their door even if it's up on a hill or if it's in the projects or Ghetto neighbourhood.

    I didn't think UberEats was still discouraging not tipping. There's a place on the app now where to rate & tip, so don't know how that's discouraging customer's. And just to touch on the UberEats being curbside. I believe that's only in LA, Cali. If drivers try to pull that here (not taking food to the door) in Wisconsin, if reported, the drivers can be terminated. But good video.

      snowblo1 I’m not sure where they get that information from when they say that UberEATS discourage tips. I️ tip certain people all the time on UberEATS.

      snowblo1 That's no longer valid. They have the In app tipping now, not only with Uber Eats but Uber Rides too.

      If they choose stay in car and cannot be reach, you give them 5mns in app and then you keep the food and move on.. happens to me once per day at least.. free sushi, pizza, etc.. Ubereats also has a walk up option.. they also let you cancel if restaurant time is long.

      Drive and Thrive as a woman I feel safer with the customer coming to my car instead of me going to their room/house.
