Thanks for these reviews!! Definitely the best trail camera comparison/review I’ve ever watched. Keep up the good work man!!
That means a lot! I appreciate it brotha!
Very informative, thank you!
Having no previous cell camera experience my initial camera setup was with Spypoint for these reasons:
1. Cost. I could get two Micro-LTEs (with a Pro deal) at the same cost of some of the other cameras listed (
Warning spypoint changes their cameras yearly so their old ones are “out of date” so you have to buy a new camera every year
Such a good video! Thanks for taking the time sharing the info with us!
No problem at all!
Thank you!!!!! I am very thankful someone has done a good job of a review. Keep up the great videos
Hey Adam that means a lot. I appreciate you saying that! Glad it helped.
Dude , super killer video. Thanks 1000. Got exactly what I was looking for & then some. I got chills thinking of October 1st in WNY watching this. ✌️
I appreciate the comment! Season will be here in no time! Getting fired up to get out in the field with a bow in hand! 🤘🏻
SPYPOINT is not as good as you’re saying I’m getting rid of mine they don’t send the pictures 90% of the time and I’m sick of them , I’ve had 3 go bad in the last week alone. Had 7 of them and I’m down to 1 working half assed . RevealX is the best hands down
Since making this, I’ve had some bad experiences with both spypoint and stealth customer support. Moving forward, I’m probably sticking with tactacam or moultrie.
We have 17 spypoints and had to return 3/4 of them. I have 5 spypoint flex on the way, hoping they fixed some issues with this model. Regardless, I'm getting some Tactacams, hearing much better things about the camera and customer support
@@jmax8692 Not sure which one you are looking at but that shouldnt be right.
I have 24 spypoint cameras. Two have been torn up by bears and one went bad on me. Spypoint replaced the bad one and I’m using the ones they bears tore up like regular trail cameras. I can’t complain about them too much.
Spypoint by far sends the absolute WORST quality pictures to your phone. Their “HD” pics are no better than tactacams non HD pics. Lol
Dude, great video, great info and in depth!!!
Thanks Matt! 😎
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Help me narrow down my search !
Glad it helped!
Great job ! I have the OG Tactacam out with a winghome solar panel and it has been out almost a year and is always at 100% battery. Love the Tactacams . Keep up the great work !
I appreciate it! I’ll check out the solar panel that is one thing I haven’t played around with too much but would definitely help, especially running cams far from home.
Awesome comparison vid, very helpful. I'm looking for a new one, currently running the reveal gen 1. Would love to see a review on the cams apps, how they function comparatively, how user friendly, can you use app to control functions on all, issues w apps receiving pics, etc. Great job & thanks!
That is a great suggestion and I appreciate the feedback. Glad you are finding these helpful. A lot of time and effort goes into these videos so happy that they are paying off for other people.
I love the content. Thanks for making this video!
Thanks Eric that means a lot!
Appreciate the effort you put into the video. One piece of feedback. You showed us the photo quality of the photos and videos stored on the SD card, not what was sent via cell service. I have the spypoiny and the default photo quality of images you receive via cell service is horrible. The whole point of these is to monitor primarily with your phone with their app, so seeing the quality of those images and the quality of the app is key. All the best, hope you keep it up.
I have had the Spypoint micro for a year, Energizer lithiums laster from October to July, it transmitted probably around 900-1100 pics during that time. Overall, for the money, i love it. The flash range during nightime is great.
Battery life on those cams is incredible.
@@NextStepOutdoors idk, I bought 2 and the pics are grainy and one stopped sending pics to my phone. I had higher hopes.
Haven’t had a spypoint yet last much longer than 2 yrs….have had many cams and different brands very dissatisfied with spypoint longevity
Great video! Very informative. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
I appreciate the time you took to do all of these reviews, I know you spent a lot of your time to do this. I started last season with 2 spy points & I just bought 2 spy point Flex. I'm hoping the flex does a good job also. Great video, Thanks
Thanks Mike, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. I just picked up a flex to try out. Also hoping it lives up to its claims. Good luck this year!
@@NextStepOutdoors I also had bought 2 Spypoint Cell Links last year. Academy had them for $39 & the Micro's for $79. Right now they have the Flex for $99. It took me trying several of my old trail cam's to get the cell link to work but once I found 2 that worked they actually send better pictures. Also, the pictures are compressed for cell transfer but if you hit the HD button it will resend @ full HD. And I'm sure you already know this, that if you download the cards to you device the pictures are full HD. Thanks & good luck to you also.
Thanks for all the great information. Wish I had come across this video sooner. I bought a Muddy and had a lot of issues with it. Ended up hanging a second camera on the same tree and found it was only taking a third of the pictures it should have. Some of the missed pictures were of deer less than 10 yards away. And their customer service was a joke.
Muddy and stealth cam are owned by the same company. I’m not a huge fan of their customer service either.
Best review I have watched. Great job!
Glad it helped! Thanks for the comment! Always love getting feedback on my videos.
Thanks for going over detail of each and providing examples
Happy to help. Glad you found it useful.
thanks for the video ....really helps and we smashed that like button too
Thanks Jeff! That means a lot!
No, THANK YOU!
Looking forward to the Non CELL versions, almost tempted to opt for one of these though. Thank you again
I’m working on that one now! I appreciate you checking it out!
thanks for all your work ,your info is a great help
Glad to help!!
Awesome vid bud😊 great info
Thanks David! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Would love to see a video discussing settings and best batteries to use! Thanks for sharing!
That’s a great suggestion. I normally just run lithium energizer batteries but you can also run solar panels or 12 volt batteries for all of these.
Great video. I personally use 8 stealth cams with Verizon cell service. Never had a issues with them. In the past I've used 6 spypoints. I loved the size of them, but had cell issues, and battery problems after 2 months of use.
What stealth cams do you run? The spypoints can be a pain each year updating firmware, etc but once they are setup properly, I’ve had great success with them lasting an entire season and well into spring on one set of lithium batteries.
@@NextStepOutdoors I use 8 stealth cam fusion x. Currently they are buy one get one. My dad bought 4 more since they've been great for us. Also the plan is 3 cam for $50 then $5 each cam after, unlimited. I haven't used the spypoints in over a year, I try updating it again and see if they are any better.
@@tmmcmill where are they buy get one?
Greetings bro, thank you. I loved the guy and it helped me a lot of success.
Think U did a great job on this vid!!! So I subscribed as well as beside liking! The 1 thing many Game cam reviews always seem not to mention is if the camera has a port for
a 12v external battery...For me its an important feature... so maybe can can tell us if the Tacticam & SpiPoints do? Thanx for an in depth video on cell cams, I'm thinking of tryin one!
They all have them, however, I believe tactacam has a special size port so you need to use cables specifically sold by them. I just got some of the solar panel/12v battery combos through tactacam and am excited to try.
Great review! I have just 2 follow up questions.
1: did you try any of them in areas with poor signal and noticed that some worked better or were more reliable at sending the photos in those areas?
2: do all of them have a detachable antenna and if not which ones did?
I use these for my work which often has me in areas with poor signal. I will then use a boosted antenna with a long extension cord attachment to the camera so I can get that antenna higher up in the tree for better signal.
I believe all of them have a detachable attenna. The only cell cam I have that you can’t is the new moultrie edge. For question #1 some where definitely in poorer service areas but I didn’t have a good control on the study to compare them against eachother. Some cameras had perfect service so I can’t say which ones did better than others in that regard.
Solid review. Really appreciate your effort. I *do* have a follow up question. I am just getting into cell cams, having one SPYPOINT and one reveal x. Both of these send really crappy pics on the basic plans. Please confirm the pics you showed in your review vid were taken off the sd card or from the premium HD plan and NOT the basic transmission plan. Thanks!!!
You are spot on. They come through to your phone a bit more compressed than they are actually on the SD card. This just because it takes so much data to transfer them. When you request the HD pic or pull the SD card, they will be full quality.
Overall really helpful information! Thank you! $2-5 dollar difference in plans adds up to a lot of money for some people over the course of the year. Wish you would have included more information regarding that.
That’s really good feedback. I appreciate the comment and I’ll make sure to include that in the next video. It was getting a little lengthy as it was so decided against including some of that info here.
Yup...plan rates are a big deal...big additional cost
Agreed. It would have been nice to at least include the plan costs regardless of how similar they are
@@NextStepOutdoors It's not too late to add the data plan info as a pinned comment.
Awesome info - thank you sir
No problem Chris! Good luck this year!
I am no my 3rd Apeman H45 (as in I now have three actively set up and working). They are no longer reviewed on YT or sold on Amazon but I fin them amazing and simple to use and reliable. I love them. Great support too. And cheap.
Appreciate you sharing!!!!
Yes, I liked all of the information you gave us is a very interesting, very waitress might know I have the Spypoint LM too and I like to know if you have ran that one yet and what do you think of you can make a video on it let me know and I’ll be sure to watch it. Thank you for your jobs. God bless.
Thanks for your reviews. I just ordered the Reveal X Gen 2.0.
I think you will be really happy with it. Eventually, I'd pick up one of their solar panel/battery combos to power it. I tried 2 this year and even on high traffic areas, they have not dipped below 100% battery yet.
@@NextStepOutdoors actually I ordered a combo pack that included the solar kit.
After 10 plus videos I wish I found this one first. Great job 👏🏼
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful!
Dear Sir, Thank you for this review. It is overwhelming to try to critique every Solar/Cell camera on the market. It has saved me innumuerable hours reading reviews.-Paul
Happy it helped Paul! Good luck out there!
Lot of work very good vid. Thank u😇
😅 thank you!!!!
I have never used a trail cam in my life and have never shot a deer, video was so interesting I watched it all. Great job on the presentation. Liked and subbed. Didn't know such high quality trail cams had cell connection and be so affordable too. maybe see day a sasquatch will be clearly photo'd by one.
"invisible flash" sounds like an oxymoron
Invisible flash is definitely a bit of an oxymoron. I used to think maybe sasquatch might exist but feel like someone would have pics of him by now lol.
They do have some pictures of them but they are not very easy to see like many uap pictures and videos they have a lot of distortion around them. I like many people have seen the people that are known as Sasquatch or Sabe. Lots of them are around the ozarks but they have a lot of advantages over us and they are basically a paranormal entity with abilities that can be experienced by people some of whom have been severely traumatized by their experiences. The facts by how to hunt is a great support for people who have had the experience of being in the presence of these beings. Many people have had their experiences shared by Steve Ishdahl and others on the tube. I have had a couple of my experiences shared by Steve Ishdahl and I have had many experiences with the people that I prefer to call Sabe.
hey man, thanks for the info clip on all the cell cameras. Just one question, of all the cameras that have the video function, are they able to record to to take video continuous footage for long periods of time (like 24hrs straight) without having to triggered by the motion sensor?
Did you find one that record all night
Thank you, great information
Glad it was helpful! Good luck!
I don’t have experience with any other cell cam except tactacam. I love it
They are definitely the most user friendly in my opinion.
Great review! I may have missed it but did you actually give a price for cell cam plans?
Thanks brotha. No I didn’t include the prices because they are all so similar. They usually range from $5-15 a month depending on the number of pictures you want.
Great video, quick fast accurate
Glad you think so!
Thanks for this review. I have a Huntsmart cell cam and it gets great signal in an area with almost no cell service. Pictures aren’t great but it works on all carriers and no external sim. So I bought another one and can’t get it to work, nor will they answer a phone. Might have to try the tactacams
I’ve never heard of this one. I will have to check it out. Tactacams seem like the way to go from now on.
I have a lot of wind on my property in Southern Colorado. I would like to know how they performed (in this price range) with regard to "false alarms" from wind blowing things
You definitely want to rid as much as you can from false triggering.
Thanks for doing this, I ended up seeing this after making a quick decision. I ended up with two moultrie delta for 140. Just couldn't pass up the deal, looking forward to trying out the cell cam for the first time.
Did they work well?
@@Ethan_Davenport I learned some stuff. Would I buy these again? Probably not, but they do have a purpose. The unfortunate thing is 1 cell signal is not enough for these apparently.
I've experienced similar. They seem to be a bit more finicky with service. Once they are in an area that they will for sure work though, they do just as well as any other camera in my opinion.
@@NextStepOutdoors Yeah I tried some out in a different area and it was totally fine. But man the size is a big deterrent.
Informative video thank you. My question though is do these cell trail cams still function like a non cell cam if need be? If we decide not to use the cell data plan? Or are these lower quality pics/movies from traditional trail cams? Thank you
All of these will function as normal without the cell plans still.
@@NextStepOutdoors thanking you
I have Moultrie. I have the 6000 and Delta in my arsenal. The older 6000 way outperforms the newer Delta. I have some even newer Moultrie Edge cameras on the way, going to see how they perform.
I'm happy with all of my Moultries. I have the 7000 and its still performing beyond expectations. The delta is super cheap, but I still feel they do an adequate job. I've had to Edge's in the woods for the season and they do pretty well. They one thing I'm wondering is if I can review all of the videos that it takes at some point. Since they have built in memory and do not take an SD card and you are limited to how many of the videos you can request with your plan, I'm hoping I can hook up to the camera directly once I pull it for the year and look at those some how.
Tactacam has been the best I've used. Always get reception even when other cams didn't.
Yea, moving forward tactacam will make up the highest percentage of my aresenal.
Had two Spypoint with solar cells. Picture download was intermittent, quality so so, both died in a year because they can’t withstand rain. Open the door and there is a puddle inside. Nice review though.
That’s a bummer. I just got a couple of those to try and so far so good. It’s been super dry the last month or so since they’ve been in the woods though. You’re not the first person I’ve heard that from though about the water.
Thanks for taking the time running this great test. Excellent information. The plans though - how to choose the right provider, how easy to turn the plan on and off, what does "500 pictures" means? You are done for the month once 500 are taken or you are limited to important 500 of your choice to your phone .... - is an important factor and clarification, experience sharing would be useful. Thank you
Those are great questions. As far as provider goes, it doesn’t matter so whatever one has better service in the area you are planning to deploy the camera. If you buy an annual plan, you would be able to cancel at any time before it renewed the following year. For the monthly plans you can start and stop them at any point through the app. For the pic limits, 500 means it’ll send 500 pics and then stop sending to your phone but the camera will continue saving them to the SD card so you will still be able to see those whenever you check the cam in person. If you have your eyes on a specific brand, let me know and I’ll double check all of my info is 100% accurate
@@NextStepOutdoors Thank you. I appreciate your fast and thorough response! I will either buy a Spypoint or Tactacam XB. Spypoint has the value, XB the specs. The plan is the big question as I am not sure I need unlimitted but would be frustrated if I maxed out and miss the key information in money time. I m only interested in remote pictures. I might follow your advice and buy a spypoint as a beginner choice
It looks like tactacam offers unlimited for $13/month and the next step down is 500 a month for $8. Spypoint is $15/mo for unlimited or $10/mo for 1000 pics. If you’re only running them for hunting season I normally just get the unlimited so I don’t need to worry about it but 1000 pics is a lot unless you’re planning to put it on a bait pile or a super high traffic area.
@@NextStepOutdoors I m more worried about misplacing it and getting pictures every second because some leaves would move :). I did more research and read complaints about the Spypoint durability. I will likely give the XB a shot. Any concern regarding battery life on the XB?
Yeah, I would just go with the unlimited plan then. Batteries did good. Think I changed them once in a 4 month time frame but they were on a corn pile and had non stop birds from sun up to sun down on video mode taking videos every 15 seconds. I’d expect to get an entire fall out of them under normal circumstances but I was trying to get as many pics/videos as possible to test it (although I wasn’t intentionally trying to get the birds). Huge downfall of baiting and I don’t like baiting anyways. Food plots are going in as we speak 🙌🏻
Great and helpful video. I am looking at buying the Moultrie EDGE. It has eliminated needing an SD card and the antenna folds up nicely. It also has the ability to run on 8 batteries but can also use 16 batteries for extended life out in the bush. Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)
I’m definitely going to try that one this year I think. Looks good. Seems like a slower trigger speed compared to what some of the competitors advertise but everything else looks good 👌🏻
It’s on sale rn for $70
Michigan hunter here. All types of weather humid, warm, hot, cold. Have done spy point micro, stealth fushion x, reveal xb. I agree reveal has great qualities, pictures, video, no flash BUT, batteries go twice as fast especially with higher quality picture setting and video and takes more batteries than others to run. If you have an active area every 1 to 1-1/2 month could be changing batteries if your lucky,(not using cheap batteries either) especially in cold, only way I would run these is with solar recharging battery that is added cost. For this reason, I don’t feel (my opinion) the quality is much different to the stealth fushion x for that reason I’ll be selling the reveals and buying more stealth. Subscription/Package is slightly cheaper to run on stealth too. Overall both good but when your running more than 2 cameras, stealth is cheaper with same quality I feel. Side note, spy point wasn’t bad, just like other two better. Just my 2 cents.
With the cost of batteries these days, I've been slowly switching over to the 12v batteries with built in solar panels that tactacam offers. Even on a food plot on video mode, it has yet to dip under 100% battery. Thank you for your feedback though. I've recently had a bad experience with stealthcam's customer service, so I've been avoiding them since.
Thanks for the info.
No problem! Happy it helped!
I need a sample on setting them up windy a day with trees branches or tall weed/thicket brushes swinging around back and forth. Most of mine trigger hundreds of false pictures on a windy day that really sucks.
That is tough. I make sure to clear as much foliage that could blow around in front of the cams as possible. Sometimes, there is no avoiding it though. Most of the cams have the option to lower the sensitivity of the sensor tho in that case.
Thanks for the help.
Happy to help Todd!
I’m more concerned with what cameras actually work the best. Which ones actually send pics, which ones don’t mess up, freeze, go through batteries, etc
I think you did a great job with this topic, I have both SPYPOINT and Tactacam and I love them both the difference for me is that the SPYPOINT eats batteries like crazy! I mean it’s stone dead in three weeks? Tactacam will last all season with a set of lithium batteries. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong with the settings that is making them go thru batteries so fast?
Just my experience…
I’d need to know a bit more like what settings you have it on and how many pics it’s taking per day but my link micros will easily last close to a full year on one set of lithium batteries.
@@NextStepOutdoors
Good to know, I will check the settings and keep an eye on the number of pictures. I’m going to put them out behind my cabin so I can monitor them easier for mow
Plans are super important. I have the Moultrie Edge, with the base plan. That's up to 1,000 pics/month. Since the does like to graze around after I put out some corn, I might easily get 250 pics/night. So, that's going to be a problem. Also, they don't mention that if you want to actually see a 33Mpixel picture, you have to pick one of the low res. pics that you get normally, and ask the the camera to download you the high res. pic the next time it checks in... and you only get 5 high res./month. So, choose wisely. Also, you only get 10 videos/month. I haven't actually turned that feature on yet, I'm saving it till the week b4 season starts. I assume I'll end up with 5 videos the first night, so that will suck.
I recently added two of them to my Arsenal. One was placed in an area with iffy service. The one thing I don’t like is the fact that there is no sd card. All other cell cams will still take pics and save them to the sd card when there is not enough service to transfer to the cloud. I do not believe the edges do that unless they have some amount of internal memory.
For the Tactacam plan options, what would I receive with the Pro Plan Unlimited? It shows that HD Photos/Video are extra ($5 per 50). If I didn't choose to down HD, would I still be able to down SD photos without any additional charge to the Unlimited Plan?
Correct. You’d would see every picture the camera takes in the Tactacam App. The pictures are good enough quality to see what’s going on. The only time I download them is if it’s a really big buck and I want the HD pic to drool at and send my friends.
Hi,
With your help & now familiar with names I had never heard of before your previous review, I'm looking at either the Campark T300 or the T180, do you have any opinions on either (before your next review).
Thank you
I’m having issues finding either of those models. Would you mind sharing the link?
Next step, I saw that can on amazon.
The apps make a big difference as well I run spy points Tactacam and Moultrie the Moultrie app and camera has been my favorite I love the tacta cam set up with being able to pair it to phone to ain
Yeah, good point. The aiming with the tactacam app is super clutch.
@@NextStepOutdoors I can’t believe every camera don’t have it it’s saves so much time setting up I like to get my cams above deers eyes sight aim it down and it’s an perfect feature
I use the Stealth Cam Reactor cellular camera and daytime pictures are the clearest i've ever seen on any cellular camera nightime photos are ok and never used the video on it!
That is one of the few I’ve yet to try. I appreciate you sharing your feedback. Hopefully it helps someone else out looking for answers on the Reactor.
I’m in southern Ontario and I have 3 spypoint cameras and I am not a fan of the reliability of them. They will often do days or weeks without “checking in” it’s not until I turn the camera off and on then it will start to work. I have switched over to Reveal. I have no complaints about these cameras and I’m phasing out my spypoints.
Have you done the firmware updates? How’s the service in that area?
@@NextStepOutdoors Thanks for the reply! Yes, I have done all the firmware updates and use their recommended high end micro SD cards. I also purchased thier signal booster antenna. Which did help boost the signal by around 20 percent. My signal ranges from 20 percent up to 75 depending on the day. Still unreliable with picture transfer. Which is really frustrating because my cameras are an hour's drive away. With the tactacam I use off brand antennas and get a three bar signal and always get my pictures. I also like the daily check in feature on the tactacam. You can do it on the spypoint too but it requires manual intervention.
What are the bettery times on these? I'd like to know in future reviews if they are battery or lithium, etc. Do they even make these cans with lithium batteries?
They all vary. I only run lithium batteries in my trail cameras. Depending on if you are getting a handful of pictures a day compared to setting up or a bait pile, the battery life will change dramatically. The transfer frequency also affects battery life. So if you have it send you a picture after every single trigger, it will eat up your batteries. I normally set mine to just transmit pictures once or twice a day. The best battery life I’ve seen is the link micros. They will last an entire season+ on one set of lithium batteries.
I haven’t used a cellular trail camera as all my cameras are deep in the National Forest. I get a cell phone signal in there sometimes but not always. Any recommendations on what camera might work in this scenario?
There’s some new ones that are “dual sim” so they are compatible with ATT and Verizon and will automatically switch back and forth to whatever one has the stronger signal at the time. The spypoint flex and moultrie Edge are the two that I’ve seen. I’ve yet to try them though but could work for you.
Great video, I’m assuming eventually you rather have all cameras of the same brand because you would want them all to be on the same cell phone plan, right ?
It really doesn't matter. The only advantage of having the same brand is you would have fewer apps required to manage the cams remotely. I really don't mind having multiple though.
Great video. I have 9 Fusion X cameras which initially worked great but now I have a lot of problems with the Command app and customer service is no help. Can you please comment on the reliability and customer support for the Tactacam Reveal XB?
Tactacam has great customer service. I’ve had a lousy time with stealth cam this year as well.
Thanks for the reply.
Is it possible to remove my registration and sell my Fusion X’s to someone else?
@@altaylor5824 I believe you can in the app. If not, customer service (might be a pain to get a hold of) will eventually be able to do that.
Thanks for the quick response. Would it be possible for me to get in contact with you via text or email?
I just bought a Fusion X. When setting it up, the QR set up only allows me to have the $20/mo data plan. I want to start with the $5 plan. Do you know how I can do that? Thx.
Tactacam XB says it has GPS so maybe u can track it. if stolen unless it was turned off but when it gets turned on u should be able to track correct?
Spot on. You can also just get the coordinates to where you placed the camera in the woods in the event you forgot where it was.
First picture you got at the new place haha I bet you sh*t seeing that. Hopping everything was like that
To say I was stoked is an understatement lol
Tacticam is the best can also the new ones have gps built in so if it gets stolen you can go find the person and shoot an arrow into there knee cap. Great vid
Yeah, I've gotten to be quite a fan of tactacam. I tested the new Reveal X pro this year and plan to make a video about it soon (along with the other new ones I tested.)
The stealthcam reactor is really good too at $150.
I’ll have to check that one out. Thanks for sharing 💪🏻
Steathcam is trash. I've returned/exchanged 3 and I have 3 that actually work.
I have had the spypoint and a bushnell. I have had problems with both cameras leaking and corroding. Do you know any tricks to better seal these cameras?
I haven’t heard of any issues with bushnell and the only spypoints I’ve heard of having issues are the ones with the built in solar panels. I’d try contacting the companies to see what they can do for you first and foremost. Maybe try duct taping the seams or something like that once you set your cam and turn it on. Not ideal for sure.
Thanks !
No prob Bob!
I am on year 2 with the Spy point SOLAR battery, as while the pictures are good to get information, VERY disappointed in the battery. On a full charge (and being solar) the battery dies in about a week. NOW this may be due to colder weather but it was starting to get drained of battery in 40-50 degree. Sucks having to bring in and charge.
Are you running the solar micro? I’ve tried 2 this year and they’ve been working out well despite lots of negative reviews about getting moisture in them. I’m sure they’ll quit as soon as the warranty ends tho…lol
Have you tried the Meidase P50? Specs look great.
Don’t think that’s a cell cam
That moultrie delta impressed me
What about it did you like?
hi , good video ! i have had many trail cameras, moultrie being the worst as all had the display go, they would not fix or have a nre one i could buy, not helpful. what is the most dependable camera ?? one that will last a few years , havnt found one yet !! thanks jy
I’d say any of the tactacam reveal line would be a good dependable camera with good customer service. I’m moving heavily that direction moving forward.
whats the furthest these cams could detect someone? im looking for something that could pick up human movement at least 20meters away
I use spy point and the Muddy. I have such a hard time getting a cellular signal with the spy point. If I can not get a signal I go to the Muddy and never have an issue. All my cameras are Verizon. I think I'm going to try AT&T with my next couple of cameras.
Have you tried them at your house first or somewhere with good service to make sure it’s activated properly? Otherwise maybe trying the other provider I’d a good idea in your area. That’s the one tough part about cell cams is sometimes the places you want to put them don’t have service.
@@NextStepOutdoors I did the activation and set up at my house and didn't have any issues with both Spy Point and Muddy. It's when I drive 8 miles down the road I start having issues with the Spy Point but no issues with the Muddy.
The one issue I do have with the Muddy is it doesn't send you all the pictures it takes when the Command app. is set to send them once or twice a day. It needs to be set to instant or instant group to get all the pictures or you need to go swap the SD card.
From my experience with the command app which is both muddy and stealth cam. I didn’t realize stealth owned muddy but when you have it send once or twice a day it sends a whole batch of every picture it took since the last transmission. Same goes for the other camera brands. I’ve never noticed pictures that I didn’t get to my phone that I saw when I pulled the card. Are you sure about that part?
@@NextStepOutdoors yup. When I would change out the SD card and look at the pictures I would see pictures that was not sent. It was driving me crazy. It was like, I don't remember that picture or that one and so on.
On the most part if you get sent 25 pictures the camera may have actually taken 27 or 28.
That’s interesting I’ll have to keep an eye out for that but as I mentioned I haven’t observed that. Bet in an area with spotty service that could happen more frequently. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Do all these cameras work with all cell providers, (t-mobile,Verizon, etc.) Or do you have to have a specific provider?
Most have an ATT or Verizon preactivated SIM cards. Everything is controlled through the app so it’s completely independent from your phone plan.
Any of those have a timer on them or a way to schedule pictures? I want one for our farm to use for duck hunting and want picts at sun up, then +5 minutes.
Not sure about the others but, the Command App for the Stealth Cam and Muddy cams has that option.
The only ones that currently do not allow you to pick time are moultrie and bushnell. All the rest you can.
great video
Thank you!
🙋♂️question? lol how well does the Fusion X and the Tactacam hold up to rain and dew in your opinion? Thank you for your review on all these cameras 🤙
I’ve never had any camera be damaged from rain, etc. sometimes if your cam is in a low spot that gets foggy often, the lens will get some condensation on it. You can treat the lenses with rain X and that won’t be an issue anymore.
Thank you I’ll give that a shot
What about the Num'axes 1023? Have you tried that one out?
Don't think so...
What do you think of the vosker model 300
I'm not familiar with that one
Can you get a monthly plan on the tactacam xb, can you get it for Verizon? Thanks
The answer is yes to both of those questions!
Was the photos from the spypoint off of the memory card or a transfered photo to your phone?
All of the pics were from the SD card regardless of brand. When they come through in the app they are slightly compressed files so it takes less data to transfer them. Almost all of apps have the ability to request the HD pics if you want specific ones though, including the spypoint.
Hey I'm new here and to these cameras. My question is what provider do these cameras take? I go through cellcom. Witch one will work with that??
They all come with preactivated SIM cards and everything is managed through the apps. It’s independent of your phone service. Most are Verizon or ATT though.
Ok I'm not good with phones and what not.
Can you turn off and on your camera from phone settings through app... Say if I only wanted to take pictures at certain points of the hour.. I'm building a house it's an hour away so I want to just try to look at some progress once in awhile but I don't want to take 500 pictures in 1 hour
I know the tactacams you can. I’ll have to find out about the rest. Spypoint you can NOT.
I know my experience with spypoint may not be the same as other people. I’m sure that some have had no issues. I bought a micro last year and could only get 25% signal where I had it, but still got pics although it might send them 50 at a time. This year I have 100% signal and after the couple of weeks before season opened it had sent maybe 25 pics. My other camera that isn’t cellular, which is at the same location had 1400+ pics in the same couple of weeks. Not tell anyone not to buy one just telling my experience.
I've been starting to change my position on spypoint. Most of my new cameras are Tactacam or Moultrie and I've yet to have a problem with either. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Did the date and time show at the bottom on the video with the Stealthcam camera?
Yes, they all have the time and date stamp.
I have been looking into cell cameras but I don't hear a lot of good things about their service in general. I have two small locations I am set up to hunt on but I found that the service was really bad in the area I would like to put a cell camera.
That makes it tough. I just put out two of these last weekend in an area that has spotty service and although it shows “weak signal” in the app it’s sending me pics still. amzn.to/3MDAVYx They have both ATT and Verizon SIM cards installed and they automatically flip flop back and forth on which ever is stronger signal at the time. No promise it works but maybe something to consider.
I have a question. In order to get to see videos from any of those cams do you have to pay for them?
These ones require a cell plan to send pictures to your phone. They still function like regular trail cameras though so you can always manually pull the SD card and check them on your computer.
@@NextStepOutdoors what about sending videos to your phone
Great reviews, but I have a question. Is it possible to use these with a different sim card provider? Do I have to pay for their plan or can I just use any sim card?
Unfortunately, they require that you use the SIM card provided. All payment/subscriptions are handled through their apps though which is nice.
@@NextStepOutdoors thank you for the answer! Appreciate it
I have a few questions about signal/service out in the woods. If anyone could chime in on that for me I would appreciate it. I don’t have cell service where we hunt would this affect my pictures when I’m at home? also is the plan through my phone provider or the cell camera I decided to purchase? Thank you
The plan for the camera is independent of your cell phone plan. It is managed on the app for whatever camera brand you choose and they all come with preactivated SIM cards. As far as service goes, you need to have decent service in the area you plan to set up your camera or it won’t be able to transmit the pictures.
Have a really bad cell service where our hunting land is. Any suggestions?
I’d check this one out. It has dual SIM cards which means it will use whichever service is stronger. Probably best chance of using a cell cam.

I love my SPYPOINT but if you want your batteries just set it up to down load once a day but the more you down load the more your batteries go down and I set it up to down load once a day with lithium batteries and they have lasted me up to almost two years.
I normally run all my cell cams to just transmit once in the AM and once in the PM. The only time I will do more frequent is if it is the rut. They usually last the whole season still with lithiums.
After watching I bought a Stealth Fusion X. In the set up, it does not give an option of data plans. It ops for the $20/mo plan!! I want the $5 plan until I see what it does. What’s up? It appears Stealth wants to screw new again. Suggestions please?!?!?
It’s been a while since I activated a new stealth cam. You’re saying it automatically selected the $20 plan?
Yes, it automatically selects the unlimited plan. You can change it through the Command app. Tap the menu and then select account. Here it list all active cameras. Simply tap on a camera and it will take you to a screen where you can change plans, suspend, or deactivate the cam. You can do ths for all active cameras.
Tactacam X-pro vs tactacam XB. Which one do you think is better?
X-Pro is probably better. Has the same invisible flash as the XB and a slightly better camera I believe.
How many cameras can you run per subscription on the reveal cameras?
You have to buy a plan for each camera but after the first there is a slight discount.
