Absolutely beautiful, my friend!
Thank you!
That turned out absolutely gorgeous
Thank you!!
Love the look of wood stocks.
Oh for sure! Wood, metal and gunpowder will always mix very well lol
That stock really pops well as nice job....The hand guard just is a hater....LOL....Good stuff....
lol right !
Looking nice dude
Thank you!
A tip for the 2 coat stain, grab a fine sanding block.
-do 1st stain
- hit the spot you want 2nd stain with sanding block, it will help the wood soak up the 2nd stain
-do 2nd stain in those sanded areas
It all looks really great on what you did and letting the stain sit longer was smart it also helps soak into the wood for more of the color
Beauty. So classy and cool. Dream gun.
Thanks!
Used engine oil looks pretty damn good on mine..
HA! bet that smells interesting lol
I have a 590 retrograde that I'm planning on doing this to. The factory finish is wayyyy to boring for how beautiful the wood is. I appreciate the amount of detail you've put into this, and I hope mine turns out like this.
Glad you enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun making this video!
Awesome editing!
thank you! I tried to keep a boring video interesting :)
Nice job man that is one sexy lookin beast in the end (also with the SKS project you did too....excellent) !
Now I'm gonna try this with my Mav 88. Thanks!
right on man! Thanks!!
Very nice work! I love my Mossberg 500 as well! Got 3 barrels for it now too. This video makes me want to do the same as what you did 😂
Good luck, it’s fun and rewarding!
That looks really good
Thank you!
Wish they made a shorter lop wood stock for the 500. I have the hogue over molded 12’ lop stock but it’s black. If they made a short wood stock for this I would definitely do the stain job. Yours CameOut great!
That looks great, I think the wood is birch.
I recently refinished my 91 model 500 with linseed and tru oil flatted back to satin.
The checkering on your 500 is a million times better done than on my older model.
interesting. You typically find better detail in older guns than modern (cost savings) guns.
@@ZRUSOutdoorsChannel Well, the 500 has always been a budget gun.
The checkering on yours was probably done by laser or cnc.
Mine was probably done by an employee operated machine on a Monday morning or Friday afternoon, lol.
This video shows the checkering being cut on a computer controlled mill.
I like where he ask does this process require the worker to do anything?

Great looking shottie! You did a great job on that stain, far better looking than any plain normal stock. Got lots of depth with the dark around the edges.
Got something similar, but turkish made, 14 inch sbs with a removable extension to make it 20 inch, and a 26 inch barrel as well (different SBS rules here in Canada)
When my stock gets more worn, I might have to try this too!
Thank you!
Dude..you had me rolling...LOL It looks really good!
Haha, I was cracking myself up while I was editing it lol
Looks great.... you are a real Picasso...
HAHA ! thanks, Bobby !
Looks awesome! 👍
Thank you!
I unabashedly steal this
Enjoy!
This is great info, thank you! 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful! thanks for watching!
Looks good .
thank you!
Hey very nice! I’ve got a 500 as well got a question where did you get the heat shield ? Thanks
Very cool bro
thanks man!
your sg looks sharp , i'd like mine in 410
I’ve been considering picking up a 410 pump
I wish you gave at least an overview of how you stripped that stock. Looks like it was never stained before? The forend looks the way it comes from Mossberg with some quick sanding then dark stain painted over it.
Man that looks great!!! Do you have a video on how you sanded the stock and front grip down? Was it sand blasted?
Thanks.
I believe they used birch
I believe you are correct
What length is the barrel? This thing looks great. Do a full video on it. An update
thanks! yeah ill have to get this one out for some clay shooting!
Wet rag and clothes iron the forend, it will help open the pores of the wood. Then stain again
Great idea! Thanks!
Good job but I whould have used a on it before the stain
Oil my bad
Great Job, I like the shell caddy and the vented heat shield, is the Recoil Pad an after market piece? 🇺🇸
thank you! the recoil pad is what came with this mossberg 500 combo. Im happy it flows with the current project.
Nice job bro! Having good luck with the1100 reliability?? I've got mine dialed in for bulk pack ammo by barely opening up the gas ports just ever so slightly!🤘👍🇺🇸
You must not like shotgun cards I'm guessin?
I bought a new style gas piston and ring for my 100 and that seems to have solved all my problems. As for the shotgun cards, im more partial to something that wont wear out as fast as velcro and elastic. id simply rather have a solid carrier for long term durability.
re finished stock or some how an "un finished" factory original? just looks too clean to have been sanded out, checkering is far too clear.
Yeah, I sanded it all down. I used a steel toothbrush for the checkering, just went with the lines
What clamp are you using to attach the sling to the front of the mag tube?
It’s made by grovtech. It’s their shotgun mag tube sling mount
What company makes the barrel shroud?
mossberg factory. you can find it on their site.
Man, I get carried away with the damn stainin
Its fun and relaxing staining wood.
