Checking in again after some time away for another of what’s becoming a small tradition. Every few months come back and check out the progress you’ve made on the project and binge watch all the episodes I haven’t seen yet. Excellent work as always! Keep it up! See you in a few months!
Having been away for some time, I now had the pleasure of watching two parts at the same time. What a treat! Your detailing is, as always, unique and sooo enjoyable. I also agree with Dan Heaton below. Of course this car will be a museum showpiece.
Hello Anders Thank you! Im glad you are enjoying the series Im thrilled she's Turning out so beautiful..I think maybe she would look best in my living room when finished=)
Nice discussion about the rear engine mounts! I was watching and reading the subtitles during breakfast and UA-cam referred to your engine pad as an iPad. The world these days!
Thanks Tom..Ha Thats weird on the iPad not sure what would cause that Yeah those engine mounts are definitely worth digging up what I could find Its nice to know how they are really suppose to be now=) Good Luck over there!!
Glad I discovered your videos.Hands down ,your restoration work is the finest in the USA and possibly the world! Attention to detail is phenominal this car will be better than when it first left St uttgart.Incredible workMike right now Iam binge watching your videos.
Great work Mike, by far the most in depth and detailed restoration videos I have ever seen. Appreciate the insight. I will be keeping an eye on the wiring video as I have just started my own restoration of 1969 model will take far longer than yours as I am based in UK.
i was hoping for another vlog on your Porsche thank you again Mike and i can't wait, after part 2 for the interior to go in, i'm hoping or the front trunk? maybe... :))
Hi Richard Yes will definately do a video on the trunk area and all details especially under the dash..lots going on under there and working very tight space Thanks for always tuning in!
@@MikesRestorations I have the highest respect in your mechanical skills. By the way this is also Art what you've done with the Porsche. Hope we see a new Video soon 👍🏻🍻
Hello eljimberino Yes I did recover those tabs..The original sleeves were vinyl tubing but I opted for electrical shrink tubing. A little bit of heat and they seem to tighten up nicely Cheers!
Excellent Mike! Your 20 minute videos seem like 2 mins to me! On the 80's cars the sound pad is glued. Over time the heat destroys the glue and they sag. Is the pad just held in place on the earlier cars?
Hello Gary Thanks Thats a great point! Yes most likely the original pads were contact cemented in but with the constant heat de-lamination is only a matter of time. This design is really a press fit fairly ridged and perfect form fit.. I cant see it moving even under extreme conditions.. The original was quite a bit looser and was sagging at the top when I pulled her out. It also had a mouse nest in it..ewww!!
Looking awesome as usual, I swear this car is going to look like a Porsche Museum showpiece when it’s done.
So exciting to see the car finally going back together Mike. It looks fantastic!
Hello Brett!
Thanks=) I think 2019 should be a most enjoyable year for the work ahead
We're getting there!
The BEST car repair video I have ever seen. Pls make one for rebuilding an engine, 1970 911T preferred.
Hello MoneyEye
Thank you for the kind words and positive feedback
Will be rebuilding this 2.0 in the fall and should be fairly extensive coverage
Never looked forward so much to see someone install bolts and cables. Thanks as always Mike.
Hello Nick
Thanks you're very welcome=) I love those German nuts and bolts too
They can shine like jewelry!
