    Without having watched this, I will say upgrade tires from the stock "dunlopers." Next, a lift kit with better suspension. Radial cup protectors number three. Rock sliders number four. Differential breather kit number five. You now need a recovery kit with a tow-rope, leather gloves, soft shackles, a bridle and a kinetic strap - everyone will help you if you are stuck but without your own recovery gear, you might not have as many 4x4 friends as you might have had. Fit two recovery points each for the front and rear. Now you have converted a 4x4 capable vehicle into a capable 4x4 vehicle and you can proceed to throttle controllers and then whatever interior bling or exterior body protection your heart desires. Fitting a snorkel is the next upgrade I will do after the above essential upgrades.

      Thanks, this is a highly informative video. Two things I have omitted were the little plastic protectors for the exposed heating wires on the rear window (an absolute essential) and a protector on the front of the bonnet to prevent stones and gravel flung up by the car in front of you from chipping the front of the bonnet and possibly the rest of your bonnet and front window since that protector creates a vortex over your bonnet and window that deflects small stones etc.
      The reason why a tire, suspension and lift kit upgrade is essential is that it improves your both your driving and riding experience even if you never take the Jimny offroad while these are critical upgrades if you ever do venture offroad. Radial cup protectors, rock sliders, differential breather kit and arguably a snorkel will save you a great deal of money in repairs where you will never need these upgrades until the moment that you critically need them and a catastrophic event will necessitate expensive repairs. The Jimny is a one tonne vehicle without a significantly reinforced body and chassis and the stock recovery points take a massive strain when recovery is undertaken which can do damage to your undercarriage or even twist your chassis out of alignment - they no longer build cars like they used to build them fifty years ago. This is why it can be considered critical to install dual aftermarket recovery points both front and back.
      The one upgrade every Jimny from a mall-crawler to a 4x4 tiger can benefit from is a throttle controller that provides more responsiveness, greater control offroad and will otherwise save you money in greater fuel economy depending on the chosen mode.

      4x4 enthusiasts seem to be divided into a group that views their vehicle as a way to avoid getting into trouble while for the other group it involves getting into trouble. Both groups of 4x4 enthusiasts need good insurance but those that don't wish to claim on their insurance any time soon tend to fit additional protection underneath the Jimny which includes aftermarket bash plates and protectors for their front and rear diffs as well as the transmission case.

    Hello, thanks for the awesome sharing video.
    Quick question though: is the spare tire also an upgrade? What about the cover on it? I think is really dope! Love it. Thanks

      I have the original size spare tire and wheel on the vehicle. I found the cover on market place in my local city. That spare wheel cover is pretty common.

    Great video mate I love the mats you have got in your car they are great especially when you are out there 4 wheel driving dragging mud or sand in your car then you pull them out and wash them. I don’t understand what you’re money is over in South Africa I’m not sure if it’s expensive or cheap. We use dollars or cents here. So $100 dollars and up is getting expensive here and under $100 dollars is cheaper if you understand what I mean

      We currently have over eighteen ZAR to one USD and the rand is slipping all the time. Speaking for myself, anything above R1,000 (about $50) is an expense I have to think about whether it is really critical and multiple thousands of rands do not fit into a singly month's budget but requires budgeting and saving for.

    Thanks for the advice. Any ideas on how to conceal a laptop in the jimny?

    • @lifeafterthirty
      @lifeafterthirty  Рік тому

      I would hide it under my seat in a thin bag. I haven't tried it yet. My Jimny is high and windows tinted with protective film. I leave it behind my drivers seat.

    That grille looks terrible. The aftermarket one from Suzuki is way nicer than that one, or the cursive writing one a lot of people have.

      Individual tastes vary, and that's what makes car customization so appealing. It allows everyone to express their unique style.

    Excellent video bud, I live in Scotland and hope to take delivery of a new Jimny commercial in september. Due to our salted roads in winter I think it would be wise to underseal the car to provide rust protection. Have you considered doing so, and which products would you recommend. !!!

    • @lifeafterthirty

      Thank you for your support. I have considered sealing the under carriage and will probably do it in future. Unfortunately I haven't looked into coatings in detail to recommend a specific product.
      I have ceramic coated the paint on the Jimny and Swift sport. I highly recommend this. Check out our videos.
