Analyzing the New Rolex Deepsea Challenge
So a surprised release from Rolex once again but now they are throwing in everything they have in a professional dive watch. This 126067 reference is massive but how does it stack up to Omega’s Deepest offering the Ultra Deep.

The New James Bond 60th Anniversary Edition Is Here!

I think they attacked omega just making this thing bigger and more water resistant, but they don't realize how awful this thing is. I think the ultra deep is at least wearable instead of this monster watch.
I think that is partly true but highly unlikely. It takes a lot of time to develop the tech to make the deep sea challenge. Not to mention the comex test chamber. But I do think they know that omega is coming up with the ultra deep long before it came out.
@@DesignAtelier ohhhhh I didn't realize that, so thanks.
@@DesignAtelier Sinn did this with their UX quartz years ago.
Ego challenge perhaps? 🤔
Love how all these so called experts trashing the 50 mm Rolex yet are trying their best to secure one to flip.....
Great tough watch
After several visits to AD's I actually think the Ultra Deep is already too large to wear really. The James Cameron is my limit. And I don't mind the corporate competition of over-engineering dive watches, competition leads to better products and prices... besides anything over 100M is, by that standard, pretentious already. :)
The price is the problem!!! There’s NO REASON TITANIUM is this expensive.
At this point I don’t even know which makes less sense, the price or the size.
But it is RLX titanium! Lol what a joke
Yes but then making and producing a watch that can go that deep is not cheap, ofc its more expensive than normal watches for that
Ah the perfect holiday watch for when I visit the core of the planet Jupiter.
This Watch Could Dive Deeper Than Rolex The Deep Sea Challenge!
ua-cam.com/video/-EE2f4kXSN4/v-deo.html
136660 was updated at w&w actually. differences are:
Slimer bezel
Different crystal, more angular to accentuate the dome effect
No more secret crown (flip lock extension has been discontinued)
Bigger date
Great info! Thanks!
Yes, but I think I like the 12's bezel more, have you compared both and have an opinion?
Does anyone actually find this watch attractive??
I don’t really.
Yea
I don't
Yes
I don't but i can't say for everyone else...
I'd say the H2O Kalmar is a much better depth statement option, rated for 25,000m. And less than $2500, so, less than a tenth of the price with more than double the WR. Also is Grade 5 titanium, although only an ETA 2892 inside. A decent alternative for the budget-minded crowd, perhaps.
Nice one. I have a Kienzle The deepest it goes to 12000 and I paid it 200 euros ahah . But.. I love this Rolex, the technology and the history his unique. Unfortunately not very wearable with 50mm
@@andreaschenato622 My depth champion is just 3000m, lol, not too impressive despite the fact that I'd perish ahahahaha. A Kalmar is my next goal. I like big watches so the case size of the Rolex would not be a problem -- just the price!
I like the Omega..
I was wondering why Omega doesn’t have a helium escape valve.
Apparently they worked with COMEX to make a pressure tank strong enough to test this watch to 25% deeper than 11,000Ms. The R&D cost must've been a lot and how they would (partially) justify the price.
Yeah I had that in my script but had to skip it for this one.
I have an older deep sea and it is in the rotation of watches I use. Omega would win since your unicorn comment says it all. I’ve not seen a new new Rolex in 2 years in the three AD’s I frequent.
Thanks for the comment. I’m more interest on what injured you as a table tennis player. Did you hit the corner of the table? Or did your finger snagged the table ridge accidentally? Maybe the ball hit your eye? I’m curious. Let me know.
Why are you comparing the Titanium Ultra Deep Omega to the Deapsea Rolex? Compare the stainless version of the Omega Ultra Deep, which has a water resistance if 20,000 feet! It also comes on a stainless bracelet, as well!
my gshock square is titanium as well
Mine too. It won’t go as deep as 11k meters but then again I don’t care about that stuff enough to drop 26k on it.
This is Interesting to see a titanium case being put to the test
It’s interesting but I’m practical
Why Rolex didn’t just core through a solid Titanium ingot and mount a movement and a slab of glass and call it a day?
I don’t think that’s the issue. You still need to add a crystal to it. That’s where most of the sealing needed.
Well guess with my 6.6 in wrist won't wear either one. Good review
Same here! Mines less at 6.25.
This is a fine tool watch that I would be honored to wear!!
You must have herculean wrists.
@@DesignAtelier lol, I just really enjoy an oversized timepiece, the history of James Cameron....his article on his original Rolex Subnariner, A Watch like Me article, I can relate to........
@@williamstalvey6920 and this is why we love watches. Gargantuan wrists or baby tiny it may be.
@@DesignAtelier and to add to that, I really enjoy Titanium!!
I tried the old deep sea, it was to heavy when I put my arm down it hit against my hand. Overtime that hurt. For me it was a pretty small dial for such a giant watch, so the 50mm would be good for my wrist. I had a Breitling in titaninium, the wristband feels cheap, because u r used that it’s heavier. I don’t want another Rolex, and I also wouldn’t get one, but I would prefer it over the omega. Both watches r not interesting, but the Rolex is at least the biggest Rolex, what makes it stand out.
Well said. This is a problem with omega and their ever expanding range that’s all over the place. But yes this Rolex is special but impractical in many sense.
Have you ever looked at the Rolex Sea Dweller? It sits well on my wrist.
Omega looks more wearable
Yup. Lease of the two evils
Is the old James Cameron discontinued?
No I think it was updated.
"ORIGINAL GAS ESCAPE VALVE" and "RING LOCK SYSTEM" looks a bit tacky. Perhaps even unnecessary. I would have preferred a blank lock system ring; or even a colored one. What if the lock system ring was made out of some exotic material or maybe even meteorite? Other than that, it's a pretty sweet watch.
Seiko deep sea is cool
Omega,
Hold my beer.
Someone finally made a watch thicker than a Zelos Abyss 3 (20.5mm). 23mm!!!!!!! Holy crap!!!!!! Gorgeous though, but not enough for me to abandon my Deepsea James Cameron. But as an engineering tour de force, good job Rolex. With my wrist, I'd wear the hell out of it, no matter what Freddy says.
You have the wrist to rock this. Mine would look like a chicken leg with a hockey puck strapped to it.
@@DesignAtelier Now that is an image I can work with......being a life-long hockey fan.
Rolex is Rolex, Rolex is outstanding.
In morse code .-. is the letter R
Haha! That’s cool. Are the other crown signs the same?
Still second best haha, the omega ultra deep is a smaller version than another watch they created. They made it smaller and wearable and reduced the water resistance to 6000 (7500)… but Rolex don’t care about wearability and just want people to think they’re the best
this was always coming as the prototype was unveiled a decade ago
Yeah that one was a monster 54mm steel model. I guess it was coming after all.
The Omega Ultra Deep, at 45.5mm diameter, is big, but wearable by a human. The Rolex, at over 50mm, is only wearable if you are eight feet tall.
You’re not wrong
You made this video so quickly. Well done! I like this watch. It's bad ass.
Thanks. It would have been earlier had I was not in the office.
Its an awful watch
No problem wearing on my 19+ cm wrist. 🤣
It’s a baller Rolex 😂!
Yes Rolex....you do exist
Another great watch you can't buy at retail.
It's unwearable anyway.
Buy a Sinn UX and save 22 grand.
Fail
Quick and concise!
Might as well encase a movement inside a brick at this point
A dream come true for every inner city ‘rapper’ Will Smith type…..we all know the sort.
fail !
To big , who’s going to dive that deep?
I’ll be that deep in you’re........
Put this Rolex on your arm and you svim like a brick....
You should see the prototype.
In simple words: unwearable and not-for-sale
this is just plain stupid... ego move from rolex...
Unwearable!
