- Quick little overview video of how the MXP Exhaust for the Type R sounds. A few of the clips got cut a little short, but the exhaust sound is still all there!

love this exhaust yo
Sounds good
Awesome video! Thanks for making it an easy decision for me in purchasing this. I was a bit concerned since I haven’t seen much about it anywhere. How was the install? The fitment was pretty spot on?
Awesome, thanks! The install was pretty easy! Only thing I had a little issue with was the mid pipe to the front pipe. Have to knock out the stock studs and use the new bolts that the exhaust comes with. Unfortunately this means a pain in the butt reinstalling the stock system. Other than that its pretty easy. To be honest though, I think the slightly cheaper Greddy SP might be a better exhaust for the money.
Nice
Sounds good, not too loud, don't hear droning in the interior and looks good!
Should talked about it, what was thought process?
Thanks! I personally think it sounds beautiful on the inside. It's pretty mellow, just about right for a daily driver. Everyone always comments on the way it looks because its so aggressive! I heard a few videos and thought the price point was very fair for what you got, that was my main decision behind the purchase.
Is this louder than a muffler and res delete?
Sounds hella nice, just started a build on my 2019 type r on my channel
Thank you! Oh that is awesome! Loving it so far?
Still working on getting it back on the road first
I noticed on your channel it was from copart! Thats really cool. I've been looking into snagging a project car from there too.
@@NoahGaitherDo it, its fun, i started todo it as a weekend project now its my full time job
Oh nice! That sounds awesome. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
That flappy noise that it has when you let off the gas .. is that due to still having the factory downpipe?
I believe what you are hearing is the wastegate actuator. All the type R's make that noise :(
Hey man, how was the drone for you personally? I've had it on for a few months and it's okay until I drive on the freeway. The moment I hit freeway speeds and give my car any gas, the cabin is filled with drone, it's hard to talk to anyone in the cabin, and the seats/interior vibrates intensely. I don't see any metal on metal contact and I even had a resonator welded on but it's pretty much the same. I like the exhaust a lot but the drone on the highway is killing me.
I actually ended up getting rid of my exhaust because it droned really bad. It was decent when I first got it, but after a while it got bad. It’s tolerable with a stock motor mount but with an aftermarket one it was so bad I didn’t want to drive the car much. My milltek NON resonated with a PRL catted DP drones less than the MXP with stock DP.
@@NoahGaither Yeah I just replaced my RMM with a 27WON 70a one and the RMM isn't too bad but the drone is awful. It makes my ears ring after driving on the highway so right now I'm looking at the 27WON exhaust or the HKS Legamax. I'm in the same boat right now, I don't really wanna drive the car, especially on the highway because of how loud it is inside the cabin. How long have you had your Milltek exhaust system on for and how're you liking it man?
@@lambo4677 yeah it’s unfortunate because the exhaust sounds decent and is a great price. Can’t go wrong with either of those options. I’ve had the milltek for probably 2 years now. It’s been awesome! Not the best tone when paired with a DP but it sounds awesome on stock exhaust. Love that it comes with a front pipe too for a true 3” exhaust
@@lambo4677what did u end up going with and how is the drone I also drive a lot of freeway
Does this come with front pipe?
And is this clip with stock or aftermarket down pipe?
I would like to know this as well.
Are you catless? The reason why it doesn’t drone and not obnoxiously loud is because of the Helmholtz design which removes drone at targeted frequencies. It’s exactly the identical design as the Fujitsubo full ti exhaust muffler which I recently acquired. I almost bought this one. What’s the diameter piping, 3”?
Stock cat and stock FP. Nice! The Fujitsubo is a beautiful piece! Yep 3" just has the step down to connect to the stock front pipe.
@@NoahGaither I may need to switch to this one if I get back pressure from the Fujitsubo being 70mm piping when I upgrade to the PRL P600 turbo just wish MXP made this in ti. Mine may leave power on the table in mid to higher rpms. I may still buy one to see if it does open up more power after I get I get tuned with that turbo. Btw I have an extra pair of Fujitsubo carbon fiber tips that may fit this. I’m running mine with a 3” RV6 down pipe and 3” RV6 front pipe and it doesn’t drone at all but sounds deep, throaty, and little more aggressive but not too loud but just right.
Woudk you say it’s a good bit louder then stock?
Oh yeah, definitely a good bit louder than stock!
Are you running your intake/exhaust with a tune?
Yep! Multiple track days and autocrosses and about 2k miles with both on and no problems!
I know this is old...but sounds like you didn't have a good seal on the front pipe
I promise it did have a good seal, I checked a few times for leaks!
Anything is an improvement! They should be embarrased how this car sounds stock❗
Agreed, the stock exhaust is a bit underwhelming when you consider the way other cars sound in its price point and competition.
@@NoahGaither you can see my car in my avatar and its stock exhaust sounded better than this Type R, that shouldn't be the case....but it is, LOL. I now have a JUN BL axle-back and well, it made QUITE the difference, now people are shocked a Hyundai sedan sounds like THAT😎👍
@@klasseact6663 Yes! The good ole elantra sport. I definitely do miss mine! It was such a great car. Stock exhaust was awesome for what that car was.
@@NoahGaither why did it go away🤔
Unfortunately she was lost in a rear ender accident. Got totaled :(
Catless or stock?
This was with a stock downpipe.
Any drone?
Yeah definitely some drone :( more than my milltek non resonated.
@@NoahGaither yea no thanks then lol. A seller told me no drone. But I find that hard to believe looking at the design of the exhaust. Doesn't help that I'm catless. I want an exhaust but I don't want my car to be too loud 😕
@@eab576 yeah I definitely wouldn’t recommend it if you want no drone lol. I’m impressed with my milltek though. My buddy and I did a 500 mile road trip and I have a catted DP as well on the non resonated and it wasn’t bad at all. Easy to have a convo. And we had no music playing
@@eab576 I can’t lie though, I do kind of want a more “JDM” exhaust. But the milltek sounds decent. A bit raspy for my taste but I’m sure if I had the part resonated it would be fine.
@@NoahGaither I'm leaning towards the hks legamax. It's pricier. But I've heard it's very quiet and I think with the catless dp it would be perfect.
