Will the French people take their country back? Macron is in trouble I think. With already 20% more people showing up to vote in comparison to the previous election, the National Rally win could be even bigger. But who knows...it might go the other way. I doubt it though.

No. The situation is extremely simple. Since the 70's, the french have been dissatisfied with the immigration policies. Many problems were born in the 70's and then got worse and worse. French people have voted for every last political party in existence ever since. And until Macron appeared, it was an alternance between right wing parties and socialists/communists, mostly. But none ever acknowledged the problems and things got worse and worse. Insecurity, criminality, violence, massive and widespread uncivilities, delinquence, language, identity, religious proselytism (when we so love being a secular country), fanatism, terrorism... They always act as if none of that ever existed, and they have done so for 50 years. They deny the problems and never made any policy changes. But, as is the case for me, we didn't want to vote far right anyway (i voted only once, in 2002, to oppose the far right). The result is that we voted less and less. What is significant here is the participation, more than the result itself. Almost 70% of participation. Compared to the 40 to 50% we usually saw these past few decades. It only means one thing: the french have given up the idea of ever seeing politicians listen to their anger. After 50 years of rage boiling more and more. Political parties can only say "let's stop the far right'", but none of them ever tried to adress the problems that made the french vote far right in the first place. Nothing ever changes. And so, Macron finally managed to rile the people up so much that many of those that stopped voting lost all hope to see anything change, unless they vote what they never really wanted to vote: far right. And so, they did. There was really no need for polls to know what would happen. If you sprinkle oil on a fire, it will get hot. Cause >> Consequence. Simple as that. And unless Bardela messes up hard as prime minister between now and 2027, Marine le Pen will win the presidential election, without a doubt. Only the RN can stop the RN by now. This is the natural consequence of the unwillingness to take risks and the failure of every last political party since the death of Charles de Gaule in 1969.
