    I've had this Genesis for a few months now. Overall, love it. Reasonable size, comfortable, very fast, practical hatch, nice styling. Range isn't great, and it understeers, which most people probably won't notice. Small back seat, and not enough color options. Great for commuting and short trips. Charging hasn't been an issue with a charger at home and at work. I wouldn't risk a long trip in this car though.

    Love the side by side comparison. I actually sent you an email a few months back when I got my ICE GV70 and wanted you to do a review of it and compare with the Tesla Model Y before the electric version came out and I'm glad you ended up doing one! I love my GV70 way more than I ever enjoyed my Tesla with how nice the interior is and just how luxurious it feels. Genesis is really stepping up their game and setting bars high. Great review once again!

    I’ve had my GV70 for only a week, but man the difference in luxury vs Tesla (had a Model S) is night and day! The Genesis is like driving a dream, so absolutely smooth, and quiet. I absolutely love driving it!! The seats super comfortable, with the driver seat having massage! ❤❤❤ My one wish is more range, but it’s an absolute dream to drive! I’ve had so many cars,but this one is like hitting the jackpot!

    we have both the gv70 electric and a tesla model y performance. You nailed this review, you really only buy the tesla for the charging network. we got our gv70 2024 prestige for 22k off msrp, which made it a no brainer. Tesla only for the charging network in my view, the GV70 crushes it in every other regard. Great review here. The quality, quiet, ride quality of the gv70 is over the top better.

    Hi Gjeebs, I love your videos and get excited on any new video release you make. I'd like to say something on FSD. I will quite disagree with you, on calling it a gimmick. Why, because, i have followed closely, on multiple FSD drive channels on UA-cam and by golly, what it does is spectacular. What I might suggest is, why not subscribe to the monthly package and test the newest versions of FSD, as I fear your assessment of the software, may be somewhat based on old, past FSD versions

    I think you Tesla guys over exaggerate the charging advantage for road trips. I have crossed North America round trip, twice in my Ioniq 5. I say North America, because one way was on the Trans-Canada highway. I have never not been able to charge at a charging stop. I might have to change stalls, but I have never been stuck. I remember pulling in at one stop where the Electrify America was right next to the super chargers which were full. I pulled in at 10% and left with 80% before a single Tesla left the super chargers. In addition, I have put 34,000 miles on my Ioniq 5 in 1 year and 3 months. There have been zero problems with the car. The GV70 uses the same battery and battery management as my car.

    In Australia, the electrified GV70 costs over US$100,000 and nearly double the price of the ICE version GV70. The price difference between electric and ICE in the US is nowhere near this bad.

    There are a only about 17K Tesla superchargers and destination chargers in the US. The larger number you quoted is for the world over.

    If the genesis had a larger battery like 85 kWh it would be an amazing buy. Looks so beautiful. But unfortunately 230 mile is just not enough. For me at least. If it had 300 mile range I would buy it immediately

      Me too. I would run to get it. I already own the Tesla Y, and I know enough range is important. I do a lot of driving, and I need enough juice to get back home and charge. Maybe I can still use it to get some groceries 😅

      Well, you should know that unless you’re driving your Model Y on flat surface with no climate control at exactly 60 mph (no deviation!), you’ll be getting around 250 miles of range with the long range model Y in the real world. Seriously.

      @Cooper Reid I know you will get that in real-world driving experience. But imagine if you do that with the Genesis. You probably get only 150 to 180. At least it's still enough power with the Tesla Y for power users. I'm one of them.

      ​​@@minercontrol9382lso, remember that you typically only charge to 85-ish percent, so the range is substantially lower (frequent charging for both, moreso in the Genesis). For that reason, I wouldn't get a Genesis yet

      Tesla doesn't get nearly the range that it claims on paper, while the Genesis does. The Genesis also chargers much faster with a superior charging curve than any Tesla.

      Larger wheels with less tire, stiffer springs and sits lower so less room for suspension travel

    Great and balanced review. Having owned both a Tesla Model Y and admittedly an ICE GV70, I agree with your conclusions. For me, if I had the money, it would be the Genesis every time. Once you’ve sat in that car and driven it a while, it’s really difficult to get into other, less comfortable and less luxurious cars, and yet it’s fun to drive and fast.

      Since owning a Telsa, I can say I would always try to buy an EV drivetrain over ICE. But here in Australia, the electrified GV70 costs nearly double the ICE version, for the same specification car. Totally crazy pricing.

      @@vasil7410 yeah, that is insane. It’s about $10k USD more here for the prestige trim GV70 Electrified vs. the Prestige trim 3.5l twin turbo V6. So far less egregious. But it’s still not cheap at $75k. These days I drive a 2019 Audi e-tron Prestige. Got it with 10k miles on it in perfect condition for $58k. New, the same vehicle costs $86k as specced, and you can tell why when you get inside. Their resale is bad because their range is low, but we have another car that is a PHEV, for the occasional long trip, and I have a 64 mile commute daily, so it suits me really well. The GV70 felt more luxurious though.

    So I only got halfway through the video and where you had spoke about software buttons versus hardware buttons that in itself is a huge deal. So if we look back at a video that Steve Jobs did talking about the first iPhone back in 2007... He said that instead of putting a physical keypad on the phone the way they blackberries had it.... using all software buttons allowed app developers to add different button, features and whatnot in the software that you cannot do in the hardware and that's why Tesla vehicles are much more advanced than other manufacturers that still use hardware buttons. Tesla can add new features by simply adding additional software tabs.
    So did everyone see how awkward it was too use the touch screen...... Terrible location Hyundai!
    So I worked for Hyundai for 28 years and though they look great...... Longevity is their issue..... Hyundai has tons of issues and recalls because of their choice of materials to build the vehicle. So though they may look beautiful on the outside, it's how they're built that is an issue. Tons of recalls year after year sometimes a vehicle comes out and they have to do stop sale because of a severe safety issue that wasn't caught before delivered to the dealers. I would stay far away from this electric vehicle until at least a year or two from now until they work out their kinks. Tesla has finally worked out most of their kinks and now put out quality vehicles. So though the new Hyundai Genesis electric vehicles may look pretty awesome, I am sure they're going to be plagued with many issues. Give it a couple years before you make the purchase. Take it from me. I worked for Hyundai for 28 years and saw it all.

    The wife of a UA-camr bought a GV60 with that same interior maybe eight months ago. It’s my favorite! Also want to mention that the GV70 does have a heat pump for those of us in cold climate.

      I agree. I use my FSD in Denver to and from work and run around, including long road trips. IT'S AWESOME, and it is getting Better!!! Tesla is minimalistic, but it has Way Advance Technology in the Car. Genesis has too many legacy buttons, but once the electronics start to ware out after multiple pressing, i.e., buttons will cost way more.

    I like both of these but I don't need to feed my ego by paying more for luxury when the much cheaper Model Y while not really a luxury vehicle does so much more and is part of an incredible charging ecosystem.

    You could compare the Genesis with the BMW or Mercedes EQE SUV, Nio EL7 or Audi E-Tron 55.

      @@tasadem20Nice top be in the Americas, we are not. I know they cost similar. Out prices are including VAT and all additional cost. Thats what you have to pay if you are a private person without company. We have Nio, XPeng, GWM, Geely, BYD, MG/SAIC, Polestar, Volvo, BMW X1 (its Chinese), Hongqi, Tesla (Model 3 from Shanghai). Others are trying to enter the markets.

    Problem for me is, with the price cuts and changes to ev tax credits, you're looking at about a 25k difference in some cases. I also wish it didn't come in only shiny grey, grey, dark grey, matte grey.

    The touchscreen on the Genesis is so far way from drivers reach. Is there’re an easier way to move though the prompts without touching screen? If you have arms like a Kevin Durant then never mind.

    Range is disappointing on the Genesis. Especially with non Tesla charging network. 300 plus range should be the standard in today's market in my opinion. Decent looking vehicle however.

      Genesis just had an up date and now it's 284 miles, I done over 300 miles on my way to Phoenix going 65 with cruse on.

      To be fully honest, I’ll have to wait until after the one month free trail Elon is going to offer. But right now I’m in the gimmick camp. I do really like auto pilot in bumper to bumper traffic, but I also like driving my model Y myself. Just can’t see paying $15K for it.

    Very well done comparison. Have owned M3 LR Dual Motor since 2019. Take delivery of the eGV70 next week. Although range is an issue 95% of charging is done in the garage. I live in Canada and range in the Winter is poor with all EV’s but the 2019 Tesla did not have a heat pump but the Genesis does. Expect to get better winter range with the Genesis over the Tesla. In Canada if you compare the Genesis eGV70 Prestige to the Model Y Performance the eGV70 is only about C$4420 more. I believe this to be the best EV value in Canada at the moment.

    I test drove both, and now I have the Genesis GV70. The Tesla felt like too much an appliance. The Genesis ride quality is EXCEPTIONAL. The audio system in the Tesla was way better than the Genesis, even with the "Lexicon" system. The Tesla has better technology, though, especially self driving. My iPhone won't start the GV70, but if I had an android, it would. It will unlock it, but wont not start it, however there is a finger print option to start the key if you lose your keys.

    Honest review. GV70 all the way. I own a 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige and love it. I really dislike Tesla interiors, they do not speak luxury, and a single screen for everything, touch only, and paging for common functions, no thanks. Had the eGV70 been out when I bought mine it would have been a tough call, but I didn't even consider Tesla, far too spartan for a luxury vehicle.

    The GV70 EV is AMAZING. Who ever test it will be surprised from the first moment and would like to take her home. The car has the qualities of supercars. Quiet. insulator. strong. Fast, pleasant and flies like a rocket.

(I do have a Y for full disclosure) most if not 99 percent of all Tesla drivers can barely get into a round a bout in my town. it is some kind of unwritten rule that I personally never read. Be afraid to accelerate!!! I really dont understand it. I suppose most that buy the Tesla are just pure betas.

    pity the fool who has to charge outside. i charge these puppies at home. so GV70 is my choice. EASILY.
