Ul said in their last stream that they are going to need the pyro launcher. They said its way to powerful and by far the most used way to kill plague hearts.
Given UL's track record with balancing things, I wouldn't be surprised if the nerf isn't strong enough to make the weapon not OP... especially because fire is simply extremely powerful. As long as the pyrolauncher shoots fire, it's still going to wipe out zombies without much effort. It doesn't need to wipe out plaguehearts to not be OP.
I tend to use bases as temporary sites to live in while clearing that area of loot and plague hearts, once that was done I move on to the next base and repeat. It saves a lot of driving time, and keeps things from getting dull.

Very useful base as a stop-gap base to go to the fire house or lumbermill :) but I agree you start to feel its limitations as you grow in population. Great base for 4 people though. I think I like this base over most 4 man bases just because of the amazing free facilities that cut down on materials. Plus the auto shop is easily the best stop gap facility to get for free since you can build a bunch of repair kits before moving out and then won't need the auto shop going forward (unless you really suck at driving. lol) Also really good numbers on the kitchen. I wonder why the devs made a two-ability combo so weak? I really think you're right that smaller bases could use little buffs that make them worth the size trade-off.
Holy ...Fox the only guy who has the ability to talk 20 minutes about a 4 men base :') The Salvage Beast Auto shop was one of my only few reasons for this base unfortunately since the Fenced Warehouse has 2 more small slots and 2 large customisable large slots and looks better (plus has all storage upgrades from the beginning). There's also just car storage. If you have excess rucksacks, you just put them in a van or something. I think Undead Labs just doesn't understand how players play the game in regards to resource management.
Ironic, that's my current base right now. I hate that I can't destroy some of the predetermined slots like the biker kitchen, but it's pretty good overall
Great OG video Fox! Very detailed and informative and I love it. Crafting strong pain killers for the win all day every day! I am really looking forward to more base reviews. The next base you mentioned for review seems to be just another warehouse base that you find on each map. All good bases with minor differences and playability based on location.
I'm hoping it's a simpler base that doesn't require me to search for characters with uncommon skills to do. That's what really dragged this video out in terms of production.
@@GitGudFox It's a simple base being exactly the same as Mohr & Mohr and Mike's Concrete. The only difference is that it doesn't have a generator making it the most customisable "warehouse" base.

90 / 6 = 15 parts per material. That is exactly the same as the storage facility' default conversion (1m to 15p), but also has a build time so it's slower than the instant one in storage ? :o
Just replace the Staging area with a Farm and replace the Garden with the Red Talon Watchtower. Now just call in a materials trader every few days for your upkeep. Still not a very good base but better. I'm at the Fenced Warehouse and I have literally zero Threat even with all facilities performing an action and 100 Morale. Best base in the game.
I'd do the sniper tower before that. That setup is a specialized build which I'm specifically not trying to create when I explained that I wanted a generalized build a player of any skill level could understand.
Lethal Zone has sort of messed it up. I've been overloaded with work between the demand for Lethal Zone content and my day job. The gameplay footage of the Fire Station is recorded, but it's been set aside for months as it's been a struggle just to keep the daily gameplay videos uploading.
Which facility mod would you recommend if you could only get 1, the white noise machine or the collection of reference books(33% xp boost)? Also, have you thought about reviewing the best facility mods?
If the white noise machine gets you a higher morale tier, then you want the white noise machine because higher morale tiers increase your EXP, so it'd let you have the best of both worlds. If the white noise machine doesn't bump you up a morale tier, then the reference books would be better.
@@GitGudFox All good. I just love all your previous base reviews so I was really looking forward to that one. When I did nightmare zone for the first time I used the fire station so I could have power and water until I completed the builder legacy. I forgot how nice it was not having to click power and water all the time. I got impatient and wanted to move into the base with 5 large facilities but with only three small facilities and all of them indoors... you end up using a large slot for your watch tower and/or your infirmary. I mean you end up using large slot for needs that would be better met with more small facilities. There are no small out door slots so no garden, regular watchtower, still or generator (if you need one). If you like the latrine that's not an option. If the forge or the auto shop did everything the workshop did in addition to the unique features they provide that would be an improvement. It just seemed to me that a base with 5 large slots it just wasn't that good and I Iook forward to your commentary. On a side note I did figure out the lumber mill facility. You can use labour to get 1, 2 or 3 materials for labour. Depending on the option you choose determined the amount of noise (threat) you generate.
One thing I don't get is how you lose influences by turning Ethanol into Moonshine and it is a pretty substantial loss. It should turn you a profit, even if it is a minor one without any bonus.
@@GitGudFox This base has everything going for it but everything got setup wrong. The guard duty guys are watching toward the east while all the commotion happens from either south or north. They can't even shoot out so you gotta let zeds in and having a fight at that spot which isn't a bad thing but it feels unintuitive. It still a pretty defensible base if one knows about blocking the entrance with vehicles, and since you have a solid container near the door which none of zeds able to climb up, you get a pretty solid shooting platform and a safe haven to flee to. I want to love this base since it feels like a tutorial toward the brewing company one but when the player found out that you net loss by turning ethanol into moonshine, it will give them a bad impression when they get into the brewing company base. The HUGE 100 fuel storage seems to be the running joke for UL now.
@Git Gud Fox tell me what you think man I have a Spartan Barracks instead of the staging area, +2 medic outposts, +1 Water outpost + Solar Panels in 2nd large slot(because i don't have legacy unlocked yet) + 2 fuel outposts and 1 ammo outpost - I also have lichenology +2 meds on character so my FUEL and my MEDS are pumping everyday, i have infinite fuel and infinite meds and painkillers, i don't think it gets better than this.., . - OF COURSE IT DOES, with the BUILDER LEGACY i can have 1 large slot free and now i make +1 food with 11 people in community because i have garden with compost bin.
Can anyone explain how the resource harvesting works as i’m supposed to get +7 meds for example per day, but it usually gives me about half what i’m supposed to gather each morning. Not sure if this is a bug or if I get half in the day and half at night.
Some buildings have a med upkeep. Infirmary does for sure and some others might. If you check under your resource page you'll see the medicine daily budget.
SmexyKillerballz90 i’m looking at the menu that takes medical deductions into account. It always seems to add only half of what the +value is. For example: 7meds gathered, -2meds used so the + total would be +5 meds/Day. In that scenario it would only give me 2 or 3 a day, which makes me believe that i’m getting half but twice a day with one during the morning and one in the afternoon
@@hervisdabeny3241 Pretty new to the game myself, hopefully someone else could give you a more informed answer. Only other thing I can think of is a negative trait, I have a character that occasionally 'wastes medicine' but I love her so I can't part with her lol
Git Gud Fox thanks for explaining that. I’ve played this game religiously since it’s release but I never properly looked into resource harvest timings until recently
I'd love if you did a review series of every home base. But that said, isn't this base being underrated significantly by you? At least, if you're looking for a particular type of setup? For example, this base is competing directly with Western Builder Supply. Providence Ridge specifically works with four quadrants, every base is in a corner... with the exception of this one. Which, admittedly, is only a smidgen better because it's TOP CENTER, but at least it has that going for it. Moreover, however, it seems just plain better than Western Builder Supply if you're looking for two specific things: A still, and a Watchtower. If you want both of those things in a base, Rosie's I feel is a very strong competitor for your time. With Western, you get: Red Talon Watchtower, and Still. I assume upgraded Still doesn't matter, since you're looking for Strong Painkiller production. This competes with the Gas Tower, and the Biker Bar. The Gas Tower gets you 100+ gas storage... which loses out to Red Talon's +4 Zombie Threat removal. But the Still, upgraded or not, I feel loses MASSIVELY to the Kitchen, which comes with all the morale wonderfulness, and the fact it can do the Still's job as well. BUT FOLKS. That's not all. You're generating (well, technically just not losing) +2 Mats a day with Rosie's because those are already built in facilities. I think this nudges it towards Rosie's win, making it better than Western. Of course, this assumes you want a Watchtower at all.
The base reviews are not made in comparison to one another until the final review. It's not possible for me to compare and contrast them until I've reviewed them all individually, so what you're asking about isn't the point or goal of the video. The base is reviewed in isolation, and I think this base is kind of not great in isolation. I have the basic information recorded for Westen, but I haven't made the voice over for it. It's likely Westen will be rated higher since it's just a better base with more space available.
@@GitGudFox Fair enough. But it seems odd to use a staging area instead of a farm, given two of the inbuilt facilities already don't cost mats. There's also a kitchen, which benefits from food production. And an officer lounge would pretty much nail this place as a high morale base. Of course, that would require not having a Red Talon Bunk room, but you can just get contractors with Vigil Guard, and maybe the +3 bed Hero Bonus. If you're not down for Contractors, I'd argue, then, it's not fair to constantly bring up the Red Talon Watchtower, since if you can get that, you can get contractors. The inbuilt Watchtower isn't *that* much worse than a standard lvl 2 Watchtower. Maybe I'm overvalueing the Kitchen, but not taking advantage of Hydroponics/Farm while having a trading post. This base really should be used at its strength, not muddled with inefficient staging areas or a base not kitted to pump out food to take FULL advatange of Ethenol and Kitchen production. Maybe this is supposed to look like a standard, basic base for new players? If so, I think it's very misleading to then use EIGHT survivors that aren't kitted out for what I mentioned to take full advantange of the base, which are now just producing needless extra noise to make it seem like a high siege area, when you have the base requirements to take one of the massive bases right now. I dunno, I think it's just way better than it seems to have been made out to be.
Because there is no advantage to the kitchen production. Food is not hard to obtain. The point of growing food is to be lazy, not to mass produce. If you're mass producing food by growing it, then you're being silly. The amount of food you grow per day is an absolute joke compared to just going out and obtaining food... the most plentiful bulk resource in the entire game. Food is everywhere. You don't need to grow it to optimize an extremely underwhelming game mechanic. You could get the same ethanol production from Westen by just building your own crafting still there and not have the awful kitchen and the bad tower. You're basically trying to emphasize a bad mechanic for the purposes of... getting a bit more ethanol and morale? Yeah, I'm never going to recommend anyone build a base like that. That's a weird design for people with specific design tastes and COMPLETELY inappropriate for this kind of video.
In the end I don't think it's a good base, and I don't think your line of thinking makes it any better. It's just polishing up a mediocre base into... a shinier mediocre base. I don't think pumping resources to take advantage of a bad mechanic is a good idea. I don't think specializing your community to enhance a mediocre base is a good idea when you could just start with a more worthwhile base to begin with. I don't think growing 3 more food per day (aka getting 1 more rucksack per day) is good. I don't think using this base to produce ethanol is good. I don't think using this base to produce morale is good. This base is not good. You could go to Squelones for a better crafting still experience, and all of the 8-man bases are going to be better which is why there's no reason to go all out and heavily invest into optimizing this base. It's just a bad idea.
@@GitGudFox I mean, everyone has gardens. The Staging Area is more or less a resource generating building too. I'm pumping out 8 food with my farm, seeds boost yield. There's a yield boosting mod. If you go hydroponics, you're getting more than just a meager amount of food. But they can all be swapped to medicine production instead, if food really isn't the cup of tea. The only other thing you could do is build a sniper tower instead, which is fine. Squelones doesn't exist on the map. Literally, my comparison is towards the only other medium base. We all know large bases are better, but even you said in a vid that you sometimes prefer smaller bases. As I do. My point was, and I'll reiterate: If you want a Watchtower, and a Still. This base provides. You get 100+ fuel storage, a kitchen, and +2 mats a day. Versus +4 Zombie Thread reduction from the other base. That's it. I prefer Rosie's over the Fenced Storage area for this reason.
They just take a lot more effort. I have to record a ton of footage and then piece it together scene-by-scene. I have to do the research, layout the data, and then form the data into a presentation that makes sense, gets the points across, and then tell all of it within a reasonable amount of time and sync up the images to what I'm speaking of. If something is unknown, I have to manually test it, find the people with skills I don't have if necessary, use several save files to check prices etc. It just takes dramatically more effort than any other video type I make. There's also the special effects added in the final stages.
If you have a PC that you are able to download State of Decay 2 on, there is a community editor that you can download.
Ty alot really helped me 10/10
Glad to be of service!
When are you going to review Lumber mill & Prescott Fire Station?
Lethal Zone has sort of messed it up. I've been overloaded with work between the demand for Lethal Zone content and my day job.
The gameplay footage of the Fire Station is recorded, but it's been set aside for months as it's been a struggle just to keep the daily gameplay videos uploading.
you are the best person i subd to
Aye, best base reviewer for SOD2 getting to the new map. Heckin A!
How do you get the wizard van and the news van? I’ve been looking for them for a long time.
It was a limited time thing.
Have you reviewed the other 2 bases?
I tried out the lumber mill but I find the lack of small facilities makes it worse then most of the other bases.
No, I am working on the fenced warehouse, but the new update 19 is taking up time.
I do know it'll be a much shorter review since the fenced warehouse is a pretty straight forwards base, but I haven't had the hours to put into it.
The only reason I choose this base was that I could change maps with my 4 vehicles.
You going to do a video on the upgrades to the Drucker County map?
What facility mod do you need to get your command center to open up more outposts?
Nvm just saw it
One thing I don't get is how you lose influences by turning Ethanol into Moonshine and it is a pretty substantial loss. It should turn you a profit, even if it is a minor one without any bonus.
I don't know what UL was thinking with that feature.
@Git Gud Fox tell me what you think man
I have a Spartan Barracks instead of the staging area, +2 medic outposts, +1 Water outpost + Solar Panels in 2nd large slot(because i don't have legacy unlocked yet) + 2 fuel outposts and 1 ammo outpost - I also have lichenology +2 meds on character so my FUEL and my MEDS are pumping everyday, i have infinite fuel and infinite meds and painkillers, i don't think it gets better than this..,
.
- OF COURSE IT DOES, with the BUILDER LEGACY i can have 1 large slot free and now i make +1 food with 11 people in community because i have garden with compost bin.
OP Comfy Chair
Fox what is that empty slot that's larger than the two normal large slots?
Nothing
It's just a weird piece of artwork on the map that deceptively appears like a facility slot but is in fact just artwork.
Will you make reviews of the other bases in providence ridge?
Yeah, it's in the cards, but I struggle to get everything done between my other job, maintaining my house, regular gameplay videos etc.
No worries, at least there is hope that there will be more reviews. It's my favourite part of this channel.
The game calculates daily resource upkeep twice a day, so you get half of the resources across 2 checkpoints per game day.
How do you get water and energi without outpost ???
Builder's Legacy.
11:20.....UL gonna nerf the OP pyrolauncher,it's the most used weapon in the game.
where dos all the facilities get their power?
Amenities Boon.
It's 500 for me is a good starter base
the best base for 4 survivors on that map
It's solid. Westen Builder Supply is better though.
what about fire station and lumber mill?
Westen comes next. I work full time, so I can't make the videos at lightning speeds.
O_O I thought this series was dead..
Agree
THIS IS THE BEST BASE
How do u get power
Beat the game with the builder's legacy.
Isthere anyway to get red talon mods without playing daybreak?
If you have a PC that you are able to download State of Decay 2 on, there is a community editor that you can download. It has quite a few options but allows you to unlock all of the Daybreak items for purchase in the regular game and you are able to give yourself up to 99,999 prestige. Other than that, the answer is no.
@@TheNinja281 Cool, were can I download this Editor?
@@todahisreal6378 Sorry, I was watching the video. You can download it either on Nexusmods.com or the official State of Decay 2 modding Discord.
www.nexusmods.com/stateofdecay2/mods/45

Finding the location to install it can be a bit difficult so when you find it, I would mark it for quick access in the file browser.
@@TheNinja281 thank you!!!
Heh I used the community editor just for all the daybreak unlocks cuz fuk playing daybreak on the last page of rewards requiring you to actually win it to unlock more stuff which is bs
Is that the one and only Mr Fox on the cover
Fox - I’m curious about your thoughts on the new update coming from undead labs.
I’m looking forward to checking out the new world war || pack. Interesting changes to the loot system and the machanics of shotguns (love they changed echo shotgun and now it holds more ammo).
Don’t really have any thoughts on the pyro launcher being nerfed at this moment in time.
ua-cam.com/video/uM6pgeFDgPQ/v-deo.html
I haven't listened to it yet. I'll listen to it tomorrow. I can't stand listening to their streams because it takes them an hour to say something that could be explained in 10-15 minutes. I have to listen in while I'm doing like housework or something.
Question for everyone. What’s your favorite vehicle in this game?
The scanner car.
Giving all your community members fireworks guns is hilarious.
It was a good video!
One in the front and one in the back you say
new base :0
Nice review, skipped this base on first playthrough though, and lost more interest after this video lol
>trash red talon barracks in another video, says he'll never use it
>is using it here
If I remember, I think I said it didn't really impress me. Tbh, it still doesn't really impress me. It's more than, after playing for over 2 years, I came to realize all of the other small facilities weren't building in place of it instead.
Beware,
Pyro launcher getting as nerf,
Korwind goddammit I like taking out hearts with them
Gargilla Ape devs said it was OP and needed a nerf. Sorry.
Crap, it was really good on hearts, it was taking them out in 20 rounds I think. So yeah, it was OP
helo fox xD
It's a good base if you don't have the Red Talon nonsense yet.
IhSup fox Sup fox
Yay fox
1st
The fenced warehouse is so similar it looks cut and pasted of Rosie's. I hate both of these bases and just skip right to the lumber mill or church.
what this game need is no more weapons ,we already have a ton of those. Two or three new maps , with more bases thats what i want. i'm bored to play on the same 4 maps. And a weather effect could be nice too. no need new ninja or ww2 outfits and so stupid things.
I agree. I think UL goes way over the top with weapons in EXTREME excess.
Wouldn't mind SoD1 Map being added to the main game. I don't really want to play that one mode to use that map.
