Interesting hearing how you guys started off in your travels and in growing your channel. We're right in the thick of trying to get to that first 1000 and it's good to know how others that have been through it got to that first milestone.
You two are our favourite UA-camrs at the moment. Really down to earth and original content. We're also business owners and that's all we wanted and now we're feeling unsatisfied, which is why we're going travelling too. It's so good to know someone who's done the switch and who are really doing well from all of this! Keep up the amazing work! When you come back to England, you're more than welcome to crash with us! :D
Hey Cora, thanks for the thoughtful comment! Yeah we've definitely been there. It's a scary leap to make but was worth it for us! It can be challenging keeping up with the vlog since we work on other things to make money, but so far we've been able to make it work 👍 And thanks so much for the offer!

I've noticed the same thing with my channel. Since I crossed 1K subscribers and 500k views, I feel like even my older videos are getting more views than they used to. Looks like it's a benefit of UA-cam's algorithm. :) -Brian

Been watching you guys now for a few years and just found this one. Thanks for the tips on growing your channel, we are still in the hustle stage ourselves, but it is really hard to devote so much time to comments and socials vs. editing and writing articles. Certainly hasn't really worked for us yet, Hopefully hat will change soon and we will break 1000 subs. Sitting at 300 now. Cheers!

What everyday features that you observed on your travels would you like to see adopted in the USA. Eg: prices including VAT so you don't add sales tax at the till. Eg: roundabouts on the roads instead of 4-way stop junctions. Eg: drinking alcohol from age 18 instead of 21.
Oh no! I didn't know you were wanting questions or a doing a Q&A! I'd love to know how you choose between train, bus or flight travel. I'm in Europe right now on the tail end of my 3 week whirlwind trip through Europe and it took me a long time to find train tickets outside the EU rail options. Do you buy your travel tickets in country or advance? Also, do you buy phone plans or leave your phones at home and just rely on wifi? I love your channel! I went to a few of your food/travel recommendations in Berlin & Paris! Cheers from Athens!
Great questions! If we're not going far (just a country or two over) we typically take trains (unless planes are significantly cheaper). We use www.seat61.com/ to find the cheapest prices and always try to buy them in advance. As for the phones, we have an international phone plan through T-mobile which works really well!

I am from the north of England (born in Lancashire but grew up in north Yorkshire). Hearing you list it as one of the best places you've been made me smile. A shame that so many tourist just visit London and the south.

northern england is definitely on my list of places to go since i live only 3 and half hours south(moved here from the states in december).
you guys have been together almost as long as my hubs and i lol we our celebrating our both dating anniversary and wedding anniversary in june(15/12 years). we did not go to the same high school but we did have mutual friends and that's how we met(he's actually from illinois and i'm an army brat haha)

That's the valley life in Virginia for ya. Now, living in Amsterdam we have no windy roads...or a car. But we figure it's a good trade off 😋

What you need to get for your camera, to stop it shaking, is a tripod. That would cut out camera shake and make the background sharper.

Some great information once again and thanks for answering my question. I have actually just thought of a possible solution for packing more items and that would be using those vacuum space saver bags. Pack all your items into those and compress down so they all fit into less bags!
Of course, and thanks for asking! We actually did use compression bags at first but all of ours got holes in the them...we weren't very gentle with them I guess, whoops! But those and rolling everything into compact bags are definitely ways to save tons of space and make room for more 🎒

I would love to learn more about "how to." Last year I left San Francisco and moved Copake Lake in the Hudson Valley. I am converting a lake house into an Airbnb guesthouse. This has been an adventure; I believe other "boomers" should take the and go after their dream.

Would be SUPER interested in the UA-cam course! We've been vlogging for about a year and a half, but only consistently for the last 6 months, and we're at 390 subs. We've noticed that we see spikes in growth when we post travel vlogs.
You can get small, handheld trip pods for not much or cheaper gimbals now, also there's tutorials on youtube about how to make steadycams for super cheap. Great vid' :)
and a how to on channel growth would be great!

Put the camera on a small tripod, like a GorillaPod. That helps with image stabilisation and it's cheaper and takes up less space than a full steadycam :)
We used to have one...but we left it on a bus...attached to our GoPro. I think the sting was so strong that we were too sad to buy another one haha! We definitely should though!

I would love to know your method to afford all of this. I know you're trying to grow on UA-cam and there are tons of ways to travel endlessly but it's always interesting to find out how each person is doing it.
We try to travel as affordably (aka cheaply) as possible and Eric does contract work online to fill in the gaps 👍

One thing I don't see any travel vloggers doing is going to theatre and musical events in the places they pass through. Obviously it needs planning, and you cannot film it, but you can review the experience for others, and might get invited backstage. It doesn't have to be expensive either: a lot of London theatres have cheap seats with obstructed views, but on the night the place will not be full and you can move around a bit. The Shakespeare Globe has standing places at £5! (But it is open air, and quite exhausting, so you might leave at the interval). And there's always a bar...
We've actually done this a bit, but yeah you can't ever film it and we're not exactly good at reviewing things 😂 But we'll keep that in mind!
