Thank you! I was a little nervous about changing this because of the warnings on the battery about the risk of fire or explosion… and even when I called my alarm company, the tech said to “be careful that the wires don’t touch, and that you hook up the red to red and the black to black.” Your video put me at ease that I could do this, and it was fast and easy! Thanks!
Great video I was able to change out my battery without having a tech person come and I was very proud of myself. I couldn’t figure out how to take the leads off though because they were on there pretty tightly, but after watching your video I was able to shimmy my leads off the old battery and just put them on the new battery like you did. You made my day.
Single Mom party of One! THANK YOU!! I picked up my new back up battery at Home Depot (kind of expensive....) but Replaced it in less than 5 minutes!! I CAN do this!!
❤ LOVE YOU!! Thank you so much for making the video. I'm a single woman and hate being taken advantage of. When I find out that there is something I should and could have done myself and it cost me $100, I get irked. So I thought I would start researching to see if there was someone online that would show me how this thing gets changed. I was confident it was simple but would still feel way more confident once I saw someone else. :) So thanks again for taking the time to make this video. Now off to purchase my new battery. I'm not buying from ADT either for a 300% mark up!
Yes, ADT will charge you a service call plus a premium on the battery when you can purchase them on Amazon how much cheaper it’s not too hard to do. It’s really just two terminals that you have to smash in there. You can do it yourself and save money way to go. Thank you for watching the video.
Thank you for this!!!! Made it so much easier. Thought I was gonna get shocked since I never changed the battery before. Never realized it was this simple
Most alarm boxes have an anti tamper sensor on them so if you remove the cover, the alarm will go into full alert status with siren blaring. You need to disable that before removing. Maybe ADT don't have those in your country, but if you do set it off, just input the correct code on the keypad...
There’s an electrical connection with a transformer plug somewhere in your house. If you pull that plug out, and disconnect the battery you disable the alarm.
Did you turn the power off first? Also, do you have to put it in test mode? When I spoke to ADT they told me I needed to put it in test mode or they would send police to my house when it's disconnected. Thanks for the video. Have been a little nervous about switching it out. My battery came yesterday and instructions said I need special tools and electrical tape.
Easy peasy! Except mine had tons of wires that Made it a little challenging to fit the battery back in place as i was afraid of pulling dislodging one.
@@TomLeeman - U r absolutely right! I tried to get ADT to do it and they wanted an arm and a leg. They sent me your video. I stopped by Home Depot. While locating the battery, I watched your video. Immediately laughed and understood why they said I can do it myself. Bought the battery. Took it home. Popped it in. Back in business. The unfortunate part is that the battery signal indicating that I had a problem went away. I wished I could have tested the battery to finalize that it really needed to be replaced. Oh well....what's done is done now and it is what it is ... Sooooo....I said all of that to say....I replaced the battery and thanks again. It was easy to replace and so far so good. 😁
Great info. I was able to change out my battery all by myself. My display however still shows BAT. So does it take a while for the new battery to charge?
Hi Tom. I was looking up how to change my alarm battery. I don’t often come across other Leemans, spelt like my maiden name. I live in South Africa. Did any of your ancestors/ relatives come from Belfast, Northern Ireland?
I used to install security for the company with the red logo. I just kept the batteries that were "dead". Now I use them for the underglow of my car...lol
What if i dont want to use my alarm system temporarily? Can i just take the battery out and leave it without one? What should do with the red and black wires?
Well, the alarm system has two sources of power one you have plugged in somewhere and then you have to back up 12 V battery so you have to remove both the battery and the plug by taking the red and black wire off the battery and unplugging the transformer. good luck thanks for watching.
hi, i have adt galaxy series alarm panel. My contract is over and I don't want to give any money. For him to call me in case of any situation where I will connect an automatic dialer. my question is, is there an alarm tamper detection status when the water panel is on? I do not have an engineer password, only the password I used for the login and logout given to me. I wonder if this password will solve the name?
So what I gather from your question is that you wanna use the alarm system without it being connected to ADT so to Waze they connected one is with their own radio frequencies and the other is through a hard line I believe that you could possibly get it to work but it would be hard because it’s proprietary your best bet would be by one of the new systems that are much cheaper good luck thanks for watching

P.S. My replacement battery came with absolutely no instructions, so again, thank you!
Glad I could help thanks for watching
Same for me, thank you!!

Omg! I've been going nuts for 7 months with the beeping. I can finally switch this. Thank you!
You are welcome thanks for watching. I think if you call ADT, they’ll just send you one for free.

Thank you for demonstrating this. It is an easier job than I thought it would be.
Yeah not too hard to do just switch the terminal to a good battery good luck thanks for watching
Thank you for this!!!! Made it so much easier. Thought I was gonna get shocked since I never changed the battery before. Never realized it was this simple

Do I have to put in test mode and disconnect the charger( plug)? That’s what the instructions with the battery said
These batteries are just in case the electricity goes out, so I think you can just plug it in
Great video. Seems simple enough. Thank You!
Glad it was helpful!
Great demonstration! Thanks for your help!
You are welcome thanks for watching
Thanks for the help! Love the video, Chief!
Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
Great instructions! Thanks

I’ve had to do this a number of times and I don’t really have anybody sent the boys out but I did have to have ADT come out and reset my pad one time
Great Video, very helpful, thank you!
By the way, I have the same panel for 24 years, so it was comforting to know I'm not the only one!
Glad I could help
Thank you for sharing!!!
You are so welcome!
Hi, do I need the unplug the transformer before I change the 12volt battery? Thx for the help
If you want to take full power off of the unit, you would unplug that transformer
Thank you for the help
Then I won’t really need to unplug the transformer just to change the back up battery.
Easy peasy! Except mine had tons of wires that Made it a little challenging to fit the battery back in place as i was afraid of pulling dislodging one.
You can do it thanks for watching
Lol...Cool vid! I laughed right with u! I was like... That's it. Lol....Buying my battery now. Thanks again.
You are welcome do it yourself it’s much cheaper and have an ADT come out good luck thanks for watching

Can i use a 12v 7ah LifePO4 battery instead of a lead acid battery?
It probably would work good luck thanks for watching
Thanks!

Free batteries awesome thanks for watching
red and black wires on battery came unhooked from somewhere when I tried to take them off battery. wish u had shown where they go.
You’ll see one side is red and one side is black so usually the black is hot in the red is neutral. Good luck thanks for watching.

I dont have a battery in that panel? My alarm will not stop chirping,i unplugged it though, how could it worknwith no battery?
Have to unplug the transformer and the battery terminals
Can that new battery run an inverter
I don’t know about that
Thank you sir
Welcome good luck on your install
My battery has 4 leads. 2 of them I’m having trouble disconnecting
I have not seen that mine only had two may have to call ADT and check on that thanks for watching
So i won't get electrocuted changing the battery? 🤔
It’s only 12 V so you should be OK but if you’re not confident you could always have ADT do it
Sweet thanks man
Any time!
