Thank you for having done this. I have been looking for how the film comes out and loads in on the Cine 16 magazines. I'm surprised none of the film photography nerd channels have tackled this one. (They need to.)

Very helpful I found some of these magazines and an old camera and wondered how to load it with unexposed film.
    It now works.

Hey Tony I loved this video because it's exactly what I need. If you're still about to answer a few questions I'd love to get some things cleared up.
    1) I've recently gotten hold of a B&H 16mm-200 and was wondering if you know what kind of film this camera took - if it was 16mm double perf or single perf - I just realised while typing this I could check by opening the catrtidge inside and checking the perfs/film that's already on it - but before I do that (I wont have it in person for a month or two) I was wondering if you knew.
    2) Any ideas on how to load a 100m reel into one of these? I can only seem to find double perf at 100ft, or single perf at 100ft also. Would it be a process of getting both spools in a darkroom/bag & winding 50ft of reel onto an empty 50ft spool, cutting it and then doing your process here?
Thanks for your time, this video was super helpful regardless :)

So far that I can tell, looking at where the star is on this magazine, it would pretty much have to be double perf. Single perf would either not have perfs for the gate, or not have them for the star wheel, as they appear to pull on opposite sides. ...speaking of which, I will have to see if the star wheel can be turned over so that the star is on bottom. Then, single perf will be fair game.

@@AWcinema - Forgive the ignorant question, I know nothing about working with film in a darkroom , but Is it possible to load it in a darkroom with a red safelight (probably not, eh, or you would have mentioned it in the video ...) or must it be in total darkness ? -- Thank you for the video , very informative ...but where can I obtain fresh double-perf 16mm film ? (I mean color double-perf ... I know I can get Fomapan double-perf 16mm) . I have a Kodak 16mm magazine camera , but have never used it because I didn't know how to get film in magazines for it. If I do buy some empty mags on eBay and load them with film as shown , can you recommend any labs that handle these 16mm mags ?

@@AWcinema - Thanks . It must be a special order item, because I looked at Pro8mm's website and they don't have any double-perf 16mm listed , only single-perf. I'll email them to find out if they can still get it . While researching 50' ft. mags today I also came across some forum posts where people reported using single-perf 16mm film in these mags with an alternative threading path that bypasses the sprockets ... which seems counter-intuitive (like it wouldn't have steady registration) but several people claim they've done it and it works. The idea seems to first appear in an issue of Home Movies magazine from November 1948 , page 593 . (it can be found on mediahistoryproject .org ) The alternative threading path for single-perf is simpler , so it seems like it would be easier to do in the dark. I'm going to try both ways, with double-perf and single-perf. I appreciate your informative video.

I did learn how to load these magazines, however, the camera shutter is out of sync and needs something more than I can do. I can oil the camera and alter the shutter but still get smeared vertical images. Can someone fix the cameras?

I would like to know the same. May do better to hit Reddit and search for some communities there, and maybe ask on Film Photography Project somewhere.
So far, I've been seeing most just suggest you throw that camera out and find another one. I would say follow half that advice--find another camera for now, but hang on to that one and maybe see if you can pass it off to someone who restores old cameras. These things are only getting more rare by the day.
