Very cool! Well since that exposure reference is just a paper card that slides out, and seemed to be used on many cameras. Why not print out a modern reference card to the corresponding film and send them with the film
There's one roll of Magazine 16 BW 0 Reversal in stock now - filmphotographystore.com/collections/movie-film/products/16mm-film-magazine-16-bundle-film-develop-scan All other restocks will happen April 15, 2022
The FPP website states: "Note that the 16mm Magazine is the property of FPP." I find that amusing since it clearly states on the magazine that it is property of Kodak.
So when I return the black cartridge, the cartridge fee is credited towards the developing and scanning of the film? Also, how would this work if I wanted to immediately reorder new film when returning the cartridge? Thanks! Jason PS: The Cine Royal was about a $150 - $175 video camera when new. It was a pretty high-end video camera, immediately below the K100 (and K100 Turret) and the Cine Kodak Special (and Special II).
Yes, the Magazine 16 includes, film, developing and scanning. Follow the steps at filmphotographystore.com/collections/fpp-scanning-services/products/16mm-film-magazine-16-bundle-film-develop-scan
Just ordered a Royal, and already have the cartridge with Kodachrome type A ( for photoflood light it says ) Can you process this film as black & white….. will it turn out at all, or should I just keep it for a souvenir? It expired in Feb 1960….. Thanks as always for the great services you offer for us film nerds!! 🤪

How do you properly calculate the correct exposure on the light meter app? It only gives me shutter speeds for each value, is there a fixed shutter speed on this camera?
Hi Michael, I recently unboxed this camera, which was my grandfather and have no idea if it works. It has the magazine but no roles of film. I am a filmmaker by proffesion but not at all familiar with film. Do you offer consultations with people to help them buy film and test their cameras?
Happy to assist via email - Michael@FilmPhotoigraphyProject.com / Note regarding vintage 16mm magazines - in the green window it will read EXP if the roll has been exposed / Magazines found in cameras are almost always Kodachrome film. Processing for Kodachrome film ended in 2010. Google Film Rescue to get old film developed as BW / FPP sells newly loaded 16mm (and 8mm) magazines at the FPP On-Line Store.
I have one that I inherited from my father. It seems to be in decent shape but when I flip the shutter button it sounds like it’s spinning way faster than yours. Probably just an heirloom. Great video! Thanks for the info.
I have been spending a lot of time trying to find out how to get one of these apart given mine feels like it is gummed up and needs a good D&C. I can find blurry videos and photos of certain parts of the process, but not the sections I am stuck on (specifically, getting the winder handle off to pull the mechanism out.) Does anyone have any resources on repair of these vintage cameras?
Put the crank into the winding position and turn it counterclockwise with a little bit of force. The center nut should loosen and the handle will come off.
So great to know there is an option to shoot with my Cine-Kodak Royal 16mm camera Michael! It doesn't seem to turn over...so not sure if it's stuck in need of repair or useless. It came with an exposed roll and one pristine roll of Kodachrome II. Good to know there's no one processing that anymore. To Fix or Find another one?
We scan and include everything including the sprocket area because many vintage cameras shoot picture in this area. It's up to each movie maker to crop as they see fit. - Mike
So appreciated. My father shot with this cam for all our home movies. One really had to understand the exposure triangle to use this correctly.
"I don't have to think about anything." Ahhhh -- perfect camera for me!!!! :-)
mind blowing
thanks so much just got one and needed this
152mm?! That's outstanding! Btw, first one
Very cool!

That would be an arduous task, considering the variations of film stock as well as cameras.
Great video! I may try to find a camera like that. I’ve always wanted to shoot with 16mm film.
Thanks for sharing! When will you restock your magazine selection?

Will you be restocking 16mm film cartridge with development? I wanna shoot a short film with this! 🖤
Yes, we will in about 4 weeks.
Very cool!
I want to buy some 16mm magazines from you guys but on the purchase site it says the scan is 1080p, can these magazines be scanned at 4k?
Yes, send me an email for instructions. Michael@FilmPhotographyProject.com
Excellent Video Guide. I just found one, but it doesn't run. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Keep looking. They turn up frequently on eBay. - Mike

Is that a overlay you’re using in the test footage or is this how all the images turn out with the film edges?
That is the full frame of the film scanned.

Yes, fixed shutter speed. At 16 frames per second, shutter speed is 1/30th sec.
@@FilmPhotographyProject Do you know anyone that makes new lenses for the camera?

@@FilmPhotographyProject Thank you so much for the reply and the additional information. I will look into that.
What's the total recording time of a fifty foot roll of film if you're shooting at 16 fps?
02:05 @16fps
I have one that I inherited from my father. It seems to be in decent shape but when I flip the shutter button it sounds like it’s spinning way faster than yours. Probably just an heirloom.
Great video! Thanks for the info.
Different fps?

No, the Kodak Royal only takes 16mm Magazine Film as described in the video.

Hi Brandon. Pretty inexpensive to fine another on eBay. Enjoy shooting this year! - Mike

why do people always show the sprocket hole its kind of distracting be nice to see the film without.

@@FilmPhotographyProject Thanks mike Love your channel
65 bucks for 50 feet. That's very expensive. A 100 foot roll from kodak is like 50 bucks. So this is a very expensive way to shoot 16mm.
Price includes film, development and scan.
