If this were anywhere else in the west, at night time, it'd be filled with hooligan kids, gangs, drunks, addicts, and all other kinds of negative activity.
Walking my dog in late night hours, during the summer months, just to beat the heat. I'm constantly looking over my shoulders, watching out for drunk drivers or drive-by on me. My 9mm in my waistband as I go about my nightly routines. I keep my head on swivel and mind my own business. Watching Katherine walked up to strangers and carried conversations. I'm so envy her! "No, we're not safe here in America"

One of my favourite vids so far. Streets still safe after sundown; kids out playing in nature; seniors having their own active social life; friendly people in the community hanging out together. Wouldn't see that in many parts here in Nothern Virginia -not like this.
Kids are out playing, women and men alike stroll in semi-darkness with no fear, teens playing sports, neighbours gather to drink, chat and cool off, such village nightlife in Baizhang is unthinkable where I am. Thanks for sharing.

Funny thing is they were watching old Hong Kong movie in the community centre and singing Cantonese song in the end of the video. I guess HK is still somewhat special to older gen mainlander. A subscriber from HK here😂
Wow. It is impressive how nicely this village is built. Nice red path, parks, no trash, good buildings, sociable people. It looks like a resort town. I might live there -- in the next life. For now, we have the elections.
I like it when anyone can just go into the community hall and play or watch something with total strangers. Around here, the community halls are closed eternally until the state organises something. And as always community halls are very far apart between each other and most communities.
Oh god I grew up in China but have never experienced this kind of village life before. Rural areas are always look down upon when I was growing up it just never looked attractive to live in those places. Now I finally see the things people say “what you think becomes your reality”. You have such a positive attitude and an eye for beauty in life. Watching rural life through your lense truly makes my heart feel full

Such a fun video as usual. Currently in rural China with my parents and I have similar experience - lots of activities but people don't party - they do healthier activities and go to bed early. There's beauty in a simple life without excessive drinking and partying.
Only 50km away from my home. I use to have a same life when I was young. But my village has been transformed into a modern city. Even though, my Childhood memories are still the most beautiful and important thing in my mind.

lots of physical activities, pretty good. life in China seems pretty peaceful but even more so in rural areas. especially older people are hanging out a lot.

What the China ruural villages have is great for older folks. The areas to exercise, sing or just hang out is great. In the US, unless you are part of some church or community group, it's hard to retain social connections as you age. Nice video!

For non- international small villages, the housing industry collapsing is not affected. Dong Xiao Pin opened China by copying US Capitalism and it was prosperous up till COVID lockdown! So credit belongs to free enterprise in capitalism! Correction: Dong Xian Ping copied more of Singapore capitalism and established ShenZhen which by all measures is a big success. But national security law now is not conducive to foreign investment and in fact China has to cut its GDP and raise unemployment levels.

That's not just any sheep's head outside the grocery store, that's 美羊羊 from Pleasant Goat! And I think every single city and village in China has at least one Dancing Granny mafia- I don't think I've ever been in a park in China where I haven't seen a group of them dancing and/or singing karaoke.
Everything looks so idyllic compared to the urban decay and suburban sprawl here 😢 Like, there are a few tennis courts in my local park - but then a homeless encampment nearby to accompany it and a couple of drug dealers parked in the corner 😅 Also, frogs, spiders, and snails are NOT insects 😂
the majority inhabitants of the insect disco are the tiny little things flying around being eaten by the spiders and frogs but they are tough to get in the video footage 😂
Thank you for showing us this idyllic lifestyle lol. This was what I grew up in before I left China in 1983. I haven’t been back since. But I miss it terribly. It was just like this village, minus the cars, roads, TVs and karaoke, haha. We barely had any bicycles lol. And only 1-2 TVs in the entire village. Everybody would gather in my neighbors yard at night to watch a show in the evening. And then by 7/8 pm it was lights out.
