@@MrPro-YT thats not true, in the atlantic and eastern and central northern pacific they are hurricanes, in the northwestern pacific they are typhoons, and everywhere else, cyclone.
While watching this I was conjecturing which palm trees were going to survive, and which ones had been killed by damage to the growing point. Some tropical palms that evolved in areas of hurricanes / cyclones / typhoons are quite well adapted to withstanding the winds, and even being submerged by the storm surge from the ocean.
I live in the Whitsundays and went through Debbie, I live on a few acres and lost 70% of my trees...….. Palms generally faired better than most other trees but I still lost a few tall Coconut Palms that snapped off at the base, they just couldn't handle over 30 hours of pounding from winds that were close to 300kph.
@@andrewwebb5170 the houses your end are much stonger down in brisbane if we ever got something that strom 10% of homes would be just gone and more damaged and thats just the wind the stormsurge would...!
This video is kind of crazy stuff I would do.. shame I couldn't be there to film with you.. thanks for sharing your experience and updates throughout the storm..
+dcp0001a During the actual event I'd wager very few animals are lost.........it's the same for them during the aftermath where resources are scarce and disease readily comes to the surface.
Hello We would be interested in potentially using this footage for our upcoming documentary series called World's Wildest Weather. Do you own this footage? Do you have a contact number or email address I can get you on perhaps? Thanks! Lauren
Amazing how well built things are in tropics Australia compared to other countries...
Nice footage! Always feel bad for the plantlife when hurricanes come thru tho :(
@@_Andrew2002 In the the Northern Hemisphere they’re called hurricanes, in the Southern Hemisphere they’re called cyclones.

Amazing footage. Wonder how many birds and other animals lose their lives in this..? Very sad.

Hi David P. It's nice of you to worry about the birds, but they do know the cyclone is coming and leave well ahead of time.
Most animals have that sixth sense……..they know when a storm comes and run for the hills lol
Wow! You guys are brave. Thanks for sharing

Good i love to do wat u guys do... Intense stuff whoa!!!
That’s a walk in the park for us from Windy Wgtn lol
Keep calm and carry on.
looks like a windy day there
Re last scene.... don't drive through there in a little red shitbox... possible grief.... and I am a local btw.
Any coconut related injuries?
I grabbed a ladies coconuts and she slapped me. I had a red hand mark on my cheek.
In all these videos, the palm trees are always tougher than the wind.
Lol, yes
Definitely don’t want to go through anything like that ever again and yes! Debbie was a category 5 cyclone not a category 4
Uh Gorgeous!
How fast were those wind speeds?
406 mph
