Which GBA game had the best visuals?
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
Solid choice!
@@thatvideogamesshow it was my 2nd Kingdom Hearts game, i never played the 3D version at the time as it wasnt released in the UK on PS2, had to wait for the 1.5 remix
Banjo
I wish this video had Tokyo xtreme racer advance that a nice graphical game
Advanced Adventure is an absolute gem! As a DB fan in middle school when I was just learning about emulation I remember a classmate burning a CD-rom for me with the Visual Boy program as well as 20+ games, with one of them being the Japanese version of this game as the English version had yet to be released. I then loved the game so much that when it DID release physically in English I went right down to GameStop and picked it up!
One of the best DBZ games by far!
I agree
Bro i also got into emulation after finding similar cd, though i found it in my uncle old room lmao.
@@thatvideogamesshow it's not a dbz game, it's a dragonball game!
Zero Mission is a perfect GBA game. The graphics the music, the controls... Just sublime 👌🏻
One of the greats!
I should play it. I have it. I played fusion when it came out. I enjoyed it but never played it again. More into castlevania cause the atmosphere is more appealing for me.
@@metalbrainmextrememetalent6810 You should definitely play it - I love those Castlevania games too, but Zero Mission has a great atmosphere and everything about the game is so polished and the music is epic too.
I’ve said this before, but I just adore the GBA. I have so many great memories just sitting on my couch back in the day playing Metroid, Castlevania, and Zelda games. I actually had the game boy advance adapter you would plug into the bottom of the GameCube. I remember having my mind blown playing Circle of the Moon on my TV. Great times.
Love how he's says "if you can find it cheap it's worth giving it a go" as he's emulating every game. Lol
The great thing about the internet is that you can very easily find games for cheap if you just put “rom” at the end.
Exactly
We’re all using emulators, he’s just covering his ass so the big N doesn’t get him.
@@MrChipathenIsMyDoggolol
Great video, the gba art style is one of the best art style for any video game era. Games that were ported like the snes ports or home console games of that era that were ported to the gba are the games that had to be compromised visually due to the different resolution and obvious the dark screen that the gba had so those games weren’t the best looking games out there. But the original gba titles, games that were made specifically for the gba hardware are the games that really shined
Couldn't agree more!
A lot of the 'too bright to compensate dark screen' have ips fixes though, for if you've got an isp screen. (Or emulating I guess),
@@CommDante I know I was talking about when the games were originally developed for the dark screen gba
My spot a game I own trend for your videos was funny enough won straight away with Metroid Zero Mission starting things off. My mind tends to go towards Metroid Fusion when I think of Metroid games so it was nice to be reminded how good and good looking Metroid Zero Mission was.
3:27 - Your gameplay here shows you hopping out of rolls, short hopping and slamming switches before you even land. I think how short the game is to you might be because you're too good at it. Your'e blitzing through the level.
3:54 - I always wanted to play Sonic Battle but never managed to stumble upon a cartridge. The choice of a handheld for this Power Stone-like (a comparison I love hearing) fighter is an interesting one but they certainly did a quality job with the character sprites both in-battle and during talking scenes.
7:41 - The lighting of Goku's Kamehameha alone is amazing to see. Always happy to see my favourite GBA game, Dragon Ball Advance Adventure, get some spotlight.
12:39 - Ice Nine here is the first (edit: and only) game in this video I've never heard of. Doesn't seem my thing but it does look impressive.
-metroid zero mission
-banjo kazooie grunty's revenge
-sonic battle
-megaman battle network 6
-dragon ball z advanced adventure
-duke nukem advance
-ice nine
Recently I’ve been playing some impressive GB games like Cave Noire, Great Greed , The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls & Roland’s curse . All of them unique & very fun.
very nice video! definitely going to aim getting a few of these
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great vid. You Always surprise me with games I've never heard of👍
Glad you like them!
I didn't know about Ice nine and it looks REALLY good, it is impressive how they handled the 3d in there.
The GBA COULD manage almost PS1 quality graphics despite no dedicated hardware for 3,D polygons. Someone actually got the original PS1 Tomb Raider running on the GBA at about 20fps and I bet it could have handled the Resident Evil games since those had fixed camera angles and tank controls.
Long live to That Video Games Show channel, Amazing!!!!
Thanks Adrian!
I had Grunty's Revenge when I was a kid but I never finished it. Would love another Banjo-Kazooie game in the future. Sonic Battle is one of my favorite Sonic games actually. I liked the story and the minigames were fun too. Game can be hard sometimes though. I liked Emerl and being able to customize him as well. Dragon Ball Advance Adventure is fun too! I like being able to play the whole DB story in game form and I think making it a sidescroller was the perfect call. I still need to finish it though.
Crazy Taxi for the GBA was an incredible achievement. I traded a few of my og GB games to have it. I loved it. The frame rate didn't matter that much to me at the time. When the PSP got Crazy Taxi, that was a massive upgrade.
great video! i’m wondering if you’ve ever played/covered the shining soul games? they are great games that i think people would love to see :)
Great games! I think I covered them in a previous episode 🙂
Sonic Battle was part of my Childhood! Too bad there's no Link Cable Emulation for Sonic Battle.😥
My boy app should have link cables emulation between phones
Gamecube version in dolphin.
The link cable emulation just doesn't work for sonic battle you're saying?
This channel is Awesome 😎
Thanks! 😃
@@thatvideogamesshowBecause you were Awesome
I used to follow the Pocketeers dev blog way back then. Their GBA engine was amazing; they demonstrated games like Quake and GTA on it. Shame all those possibilities weren't realized.
I’ll second that, was such an impressive engine!
There was a GTA game on there
If you do one of these again and if games that require fan translations are not off limits, then definitely check out Super Robot Wars J.
I was stunned by how fluid the animations were. And since there are a lot of units, allies and enemies alike, there are lots of these animations. One of the best looking GBA games for me.
Thank you for introducing me to Ice Nine. I love GBA FPS games.
Hope you enjoy it!
Make it past the first 3 levels (training levels) and it's great! Very expensive and rare for the actual copy of the game.
The GBA really was in a league of its own by providing very impressive games, especially visually. Another list of excellent picks! Ice Nine is one I’ve been wanting to try still!
Couldn't agree more!
The GBA is underrated and it's life was cut too short in order to replace it with the DS.
I’ll second that!
Fantastic video
Thanks Joshua!
Megaman Battle Network 6, DB Advance Adventure & Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance are my favorite gba games on this list
Great Stuff!
Thanks!
F-Zero was a mind blowing for me back in the day
Sonic Battle is such a pick 👌
Such a fun little game!
I loooove Deadly Alliance on GBA so much!
Such a great fighting game!
Thanks again for another Gameboy advance video, I love Gameboy advance so much...
And yes... Metroid zero mission is a masterpiece 👌
Glad you enjoyed the episode!
0:45 Manual does, remember, it was a time where games came with instructions booklet that were essential to the experience because they didn't had developement time or memory space to include in-game tutorials.
Finally you mentioned the Need for Speed game, those looked really good but my favorite was Underground 2 or Carbon
Some of the best racers on the GBA!
I had Underground 2. Loved it.
Most wanted on GBA and carbon/underground on the DS, loved them
I like Ice Nine (strangely the Bowie knife looks huge, like a Bowie-sword 😂) the one downside is that, as far as I know, there is no way to skip the training missions. If there were I'd likely love the game.
Wasn't gonna click on this video and I'm happy I did. Found a few that I had never seen before. TY!
Glad you found something new!
I hope you can cover some homebrew games, such as games from GBA jam.
Great idea for a video. I’ll add it to the list 🙂
I've mentioned before, Rayman 3 deserves a spot on one of these lists in the future. The graphics on that game made my jaw drop.
Crazy you didn’t include golden sun
That was arguably the best game on the gba crazy graphics during the battle sequence
It was included in part 1. Great RPG!
What do you think about Drill Dozer's graphics?
Golden Sun is definitely a contender for this list
that was in the previous video (#2)
I remember playing advanced adventure when i was really a teenager and i enjoyed it a lot at that time being. I played the game again after like more than a decade and while its still a nice experience its not as fun as before. I finished the game and i feel like finishing the game again because i already like unlocked krillin as the main character but then i decided not to cause its too repetitive for me and i dont enjoy playing that much anymore. I mean i would rather play another game. If im like 10 years younger, i would have finished the game again for sure.
The narrator pointed out that the visuals are sharper than Super Metroid, and it's because Super Metroid was pixel art, Zero Mission is hand drawn art that was scanned and downsampled to work on the 240p-ish display the GBA had
It took me a long time to realize this, but it was when I was looking at the backgrounds I realized that was too smooth to be tiles. It begs the question if the original high resolution originals are on a computer somewhere for Zero Mission and Fusion and could we get a Zero Mission/Fusion HD remaster
I both love and dread these videos! Because I know my backlog is about to grow and my wallet about to shrink haha!
Haha I’m sorry! 😅
Maybe you covered it in another video or something, but for me the most impressive looking gba game is V-Rally 3 which even has an inside-the-car dash cam.
I'm surprised he's done three of these and still never mentioned Monkey Ball Jr. There's also plenty of other racing games that looked very impressive. Colin McRae Rally 2.0 has true 3D vehicles as far as I can tell (as opposed to using the Donkey Kong Country technique).
Thanks for the tip, I’ll include it with the next episode 🙂
That's cool dbz was mentioned. It's a lot of fun and is underrated.
Such a great game!
What?
There is no such thing as dbz advanced adventure....
It's dragon ball advanced adventure.....there is no Z
That Sonic Battle game engine could have been a good basis for a Fallout game on the GBA
Bro could you do graphically impressive games on mobile
Or ps Vita #4
In the works 🙂
@@thatvideogamesshow
For mobile
Cod mobile
Undawn
Asphalt 9
Dead trigger 2
Ark survival evolved
Bright memory
Alien isolation
Genshin impact
For the vita
Fifa 15
The amazing spiderman
Mortal Kombat 9
Injustice gods among us
Thanks😌
decent compilation 💾
idk just the way you talk about games makes me want to go play them right away, even ones i know i would hate lmao
😅
Why?Sonic Battle,Medabots,Car Battler Joe and Kingdom Hearts CoM is hella fun to play
@@Zero_Tester i didnt say any game in particular, just saying he good at describing games
So nice to hear someone praise Crazy Taxi on GBA. "The one on dreamcast is so much superior". Well of course, but you should not compare the two. It is what it is. And even though the Simpsons Road Rage is a better game on the GBA, they both should have place in a collection!
Oh yeah this is the Western fanservice pack (you're right about every one though; great content)
I’m honestly sad y’all didn’t put Lego Star Wars complete saga in here, it was awesome
Never had a GBA but i've played some games on emulators and I have to say them GBA devs were on another level
Maybe i’m blind but would you be willing to share the music that’s used because i find myself vibing with it but i don’t know where it’s from!
Which tracks my friend?
NFS looks wild. that's low key n64 quality 😂
definitely shows the difference between the GBC and the GBA could achieve
Duke nukem advance isn't a remake of Duke Nukem 3D, is actually a original game, you can say that is the true duke nuken 3d sequel.
nintendo needs to make banjo kazooie collection remaster for the nintendo switch
01. Metroid zero mission
02. Banji kazooie grunty's revenge
03. Sonic battle
04. Megaman battle network 6
05. Deagon ball z Advanced Adventure
06. Duke nukem advance
07. Crazy taxi catch a ride !
08. Ice nine
09. NFS Underground
10. Mortal Kombat deadly alliance
Zero Mission is the GOAT
Top Gear rally is another graphically impressive racing game.
Men i wish I still had my Gameboy advance sp
Great list but you forgot Star X, Tony Hawk, and Astérix and Obelisk.
He included Astérix and Obelisk in the last video
@@PeruvianPotato Must have missed that one.
I wonder if grandia could be done on the gba
Metroid zero mission is so good
I’ll second that!
bro forgot about Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age
You missed out on driver 3
Can u do graphically impressive on psp #4 or nds #3
For sure it’s in the works 🙂
Why Alone in The Dark is not I. This list ???
How is Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories not on here???
No Driver?
Are missing Doom and Tekken
Nah best fighter on the system was Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival
Agreed, with Alpha 3 as a close second
Ooh yes absolutely.
I love you man ❤
Haha thanks for watching!
Driver 3 was pretty impressive to me or driv3r
Can you please recommend me any more games like Dragon ball Advance adventure? I really love it but I've completed it like million times, is there anything alike?? 😭
I think Tournament Edition looks better than Deadly Alliance
keren keren banget bang listnya
Waduh orang indonesia nyasar cuy😅
@@PRO_GIMANG_1423 lah
@@AsvaldoAyus9419 kenapa jawab, lah? lu kan komen video luar negeri
I think NFS Carbon was graphically better than Underground for the GBA, but the controls and gameplay experience of that version weren't as good.
Curious. If Samus was male would you have said male bounty hunter?
No Asterix? Wtf?
Awwwww yeah!
Hope you enjoy it!
@@thatvideogamesshow Yeah, man. I'm trying to grow my GBA channel so I love seeing these uploads.
More episodes on the way 🙂
Damn graphics, is da shit fun or naw
🐍
Sonic battle is just unplayable because the 2d... 9 hit on 10 miss because you attack the void...
Great another video with no time stamps -_-
👍👍👍👍
No Golden Sun? Wack list
The series really should end here cause this is mostly games that didn't mess up graphics instead of impressive woah, the gameboy can do that games.
Crazy taxi is some of the ugliest stuff on the system, even if managing to build a 3d game is technically impressive.
LMAO, I'm out, You think Zero mission has better graphics than Fusion. Bad enough but super metroid F off lol.
first
That 3d games look so ugly
I get that but the fact they are even up and running on the hardware, considering it’s limitations.. Is something worth commending.
I dont agree with your choices there are many more games with better graphics pls do your homework better.
Did you not see that this is video #3 in this series?
Lazy content. Taking games with art style that you like and calling them "graphically impressive" in the title is false advertising.
Crude? 3d games on GBA look like crap 💩 and no one should play them when you can play some really beautiful 2d games available on the system
why do people still play this type of game? i never want to go back to playing old games...modern game is the best both the graphics and the gameplay ...
Yeah righto chief, hiding content and progression speed behind paywalls and constant updates that stop you from playing until there downloaded? It's litterally the analogy of polishing a 💩, it looks better but it's still a piece of...
They are the best. Modern western games are woke and dumb. I only play japanease games like Yakuza Series or FeomSoftware game. Go play some Cod kid
I have a question: If Samus was a man, would you have called him a "male bounty hunter"?
Let it go snowflake
The game boy sure was neat. Like a potato.
Astro boy anyone?
It's weird, but banjo kazooie for GBA look way better than the gba ports of donkey Kong country... Nintendo should of treated RARE better. My favorite GBA will always be Metroid 4, Metroid Fusion.
