That's adorable.
Imagine getting convicted based on the understanding that stairs were the better option, as if the public has not made it already clear they want immediate and dedicated responses from the officers and by taking the elevator, the most convenient and quickest route, they would be abiding by that rule of expediency. Disregard the fact that climbing several flights of stairs, regardless of physical condition, while wearing body armor, and responding to a mental health related call, which was not and could not be established as the main reason/purpose of the call, is taxing enough. This was wrong in its conviction and I hope officers see this and remove themselves to avoid prosecution. Because it isn't a threat no longer. I pity the man who thinks they can do the job better when the Job is designed for you to fail. "
Respect. Justice in police shootings is sadly and detrimentally rare.

It's the only job PSYCHOPATHS are qualified for.
Community might want to brace themselves for a probation-only sentence. As the (Travis Co) Judge is likely to posit that LEOs have a very difficult & dangerous job, have to make split-second decisions (which can have deadly consequences for all involved). And he will likely discount the concept that the cops induced the deadly exigency via poor tactics.

Juror is lying

I am on the cops side on this one. The guy was coming at them with a knife. It is easy to say the cop should have done this and should have done that. But that is not how it works in the moment. And what does walking up the stairs have to do with it? It is easy to be a critic of a job you don't even do.
He still has to do it by law and by his procedures. If he is acting outside of any of those, the jury got this correct. If he didn't, then they got it wrong. Feel free to draft his motion to appeal.

The juror was clearly politically motivated. If not, why would he have to make it clear that he was a Republican. The juror needs to be investigated.
are you for real? addressing that he is Republican makes it even more CLEAR that there was no bias and even went against his own politics - a Republican generally would have just sided with Police. It sounds like this jury thought it through and clearly saw things we have not - its a charge specific to this time and this place - not an overall opinion.

Ya why cause you would never convict one of your own
Have you ever given another cop a ticket nope
I have a day to think about this. This cop should not be guilty. The person "Doc" was 5ft away, and had a knife. 15-18ft is considered a threat range, vests don't stop knifes. It was a justified shot. This jury member is a example of a society coward; A person that says they will back the law enforcement/military, but then becomes a coward when asked to do something. If you are wondering why we are having trouble hiring people in to LEO/MIL, this is one of the reasons why; they don't feel like you will have there back.
Devil in blue
What about justice for Mike ramos and others?
So cops can't take elevators anymore huh??
Cops shoot first and think later. Rarely is there any consequence. This jury sent a clear message to the police and deputies in Travis County and Austin that the gun is not the only solution. I have some empathy for the cop, but at the same time, this should not have happened.
When more Americans citizens do their job in America courts rooms they will send a message to their police officers about justice. Someone has to change what's happening in country because the police departments are not doing their jobs
5 feet to use a taser? That’s suicidal.
Putting all your eggs in one basket - 4 cops in an elevator and nowhere to go or turn - plan A give yourself time and distance, plan not so brilliant lets all hop in an elevator after watching /viewing building surveillance video of the subject and knew his exact location before we arrive to an empty floor. We even knew better than this during 9/11 - 5 floors vs. WORLD TRADE CENTER.
@@AustinTravis-b4s a poor plan? yes. They shouldn’t have gone up the elevator. But it is the fastest travel to get to the necessary location and if they decided to use the elevator due to a combination of complacency and possibly tiredness, then that’s a bad look. maybe you see things they cant show you because we don't see what the jury saw and there is a reason. APD have hidden the body cam footage for 5 years. 1) his partner Officer Karl Krycia is also up for trial next week - Oct. 29. Be interesting if he takes a Plea after this, or goes for it 2) we don't know what we don't know - why did APD just finally release the elevator shooting from body cam footage in court and the news during this trial and wait 5 years?
I wonder what they will release from this in 5 more years......

anonymous dude is out of this world dumb. So you want a cop to take the stairs to a scene where a guy is wielding a knife to the public and then use a taser that statistically only works less than 50 percent of the time.
1:11 "I have always supported the police, I'll never support to defund the police. I always vote Republican. I am..." - A scumbag.
I’ve been on that elevator doing deliveries before. If it matters it is directly to the right when you walk in the side entrance and I don’t think there are stairs there but could be wrong. Don’t remember there being and I can see getting on it quickly since it’s right there. But I do know the hallways in that building are rather narrow and there’s not a lot of space to navigate. I don’t know if that has anything to do with what happened but that’s a pretty exclusive building I think. Diagonally across The Independent. Did they ever determine why the guy was walking around with a knife?
This is THE ONE TIME I wish the jury were in Officer Taylor’s shoes! 😮

You missed the part where the juror mentioned that the officer’s key mistake was not taking the stairs. They knew he had a knife and the stairs would have given them a chance to retreat if needed. All the 911 calls were from neighbors who reported a mental health risk and not a murderer
They got off the elevator and were suddenly five feet away from a guy with a knife.

In an instant the Officer made a decision to not get his eye removed his throat slashed or a puncture through his arm or face as his training has taught him a knife can be as deadly as a gun, just more up close and personal with a six ft circle damage or death zone. Especially when being threatened by someone that is mentally unstable as in being unreasonable and would actually pull a knife on an Officer to start with. Someone mentioned he should have used his taser I guess not realising a knife is considered a deadly weapon. It's very hard to judge a life and death situation when it isn't your life or permanent injury or a hospital stay on the line. Now the Officers intervention which possibly stopped another person from becoming the next target has lost his freedom, his job, his training, his income, because he bravely faced off with a knife slinging person with an unreasonable thought process. There is a reason Officers strap on a gun to go to work everyday and we don't.
😂😂.... so what is the taser for?
@@JEFRINT29Taser’s don’t always work. In fact when there is time one officer covers the suspect with a firearm while another deploys a taser. That’s when there’s time. Because the jury doesn't have a clue what legal and law is and the fact that the officer felt, in that situation, that he and his partner's lives were in danger.
