Cool videos, thanks for sharing. What's your favorite camera setup for windsurfing? I'm interested in getting something for self-coaching. Maybe a helmet/boom mounted GoPro, or maybe the insta360. The onex2 gets pricey after I include the cost of the harness mount though. Cheers.

Good question. I swear by the www.flymount.com mount for starters. As for cameras. I think I’m done with traditional action cameras and going with 360 cams all the way. I experimented with the Insta360 OneR camera but it was not waterproof as advertised. I bought two and both failed in salt water without a case in first few uses. I’ve seen pro windsurfers (Ricardo Campello and Ben Proffit) posting footage with the new Insta360 X2 and if it works in ocean waves I figured I’d try it. Insta replaced both my cams after about a month of back and forth and I used all year in a 3rd party waterproof case, and lived with the Water spots and cloudy footage. The X2 is awesome! The software is terrific. Removes selfi stick automatically and locks on target automatically saving tedious editing.
The GoPro Max may be good, but personally the form factor is terrible and would easily “sheer off” my mast if I used it. What ever you choose, be able to live with losing it and taking precaution with leashing it to something. Often I buy third party metal cages for the camera for this purpose. Most cams don’t have way to leash. Ulanzi makes good cases :)

That's amazing tech! So do you change the camera angle when you are editing?

The Insta360 software has a feature called direction lock, which once you set the angle keeps the action in view, and steady automatically, and yes, you can also set "key-frames" on the video timeline and change the angle of view. I use the desktop app for editing, but the mobile app is packed full of cool editing features.

Great video ! Where do you mount the camera for those shots?

Hi and thanks. I use a mount screwed into the back of my harness. The Insta360 camera software automatically removes selfie-sticks and pole mounts so it looks like drone footage! Here's the link to the mount: www.k4fins.com/product-category/gopro-harness-mounts/

very nice. what fins are you using for this board. any tips on avoiding spinouts? ;)

I use Maui Ultra Fins. X wave I think. 18cm center, 12.5 thrusters. They are stiffer and faster than stock fins. Took about 3 months to deliver tho. I only spin out on jump landings when I’m tired and put too much pressure on back foot instead of spreading load between front and back foot on landing
