After Larry and I went for a ride, I went to Sturgis and saw at least 3 other Larry's. The video on Sturgis will be next. What kind of mods do you want to see on Larry?
If you want to go for that cool 9-year-old delinquent look, maybe a sissy bar with a pirate flag. The "I bought this for my daughter-look" might include pink streamers from the handlebars and seat (or sissy bar!).
I suggest a slide carb, which will override the speed limiter, and make the motor accelerate much smoother than the stock system. It is a little more advanced, but the outcome is worth the effort. Perhaps enlist the help of a mechanic familiar with these little machines in case you have question, since there is not really any install instructions that I am aware of.
Lady knows her ATGATT. All should! Mythbusters proved that a 25 mph impact can be fatal. That minibike hits that right out of the box. Never mind road rash from even hitting pavement at walking speeds.
Man that was entertaining. I like when you said “it’s not going anywhere?!?!” Welcome to the world of centrifugal clutches. Those “mini bikes” where $99 in the Sears catalog when I was a kid
These things are a blast for just playing around on light dirt roads or neighborhoods. I put a performance air filter kit on it and it gave it some pep!
The wife bought this same model for the grandson at a local outdoor store ($600+taxes and such) on sale! I was voluntold to assemble it. First thing was the instructions for installing the fork were incorrect. Following them would have not allowed it to turn freely. Former HD truck mechanic so it wasn’t hard for me to get it right. May have had to find an extra washer from my stash….can’t remember for sure. THEN after a couple hours of riding the engine locked up! Hadn’t even validated the warranty yet! A few days to get that done and then about another week at the approved small engine shop for a new engine. Probably about five hours time on it now and seems to be fine. Not a bad deal for $600 but it’s not a Honda or a Yamaha.
Here's the equation... Coleman is a value camping equipment brand + a crude 70s mini-bike design = fun. People who complain about refinement expect a Honda Monkey, which is a dozen levels up.
I had one of these as a kid 😂 it had a Tecumpsa motor and yes I surely spelt that wrong but those were the good days.It was so top heavy that I had to have my little sister sit on the back so I could jump and pop wheelie’s. I actually lost it for that reason or I got it taken away for the summer and someone stole it out of our mower shed. I miss that thing and even at 50 I still want another for fun. Thank you for sharing. New to your channel from South Florida. I love that you rode to Key West. I take my family there once a year and it’s a 5 1/2 hour trip in my truck. I could put a bike in the truck but I could never make the trip on a bike.❤🔥🫡
So ...... What you are doing with that bike is exactly how I learned ....... Good job ...... You will make mistakes and you will break things and then you keep going ...... As far as the manual ..... I never used them ..... And they don't make sense ....... I just asked the mechanics ..... Now you just go on You Tube ....... 😆 😆 😆 ...... Take care and keep making these videos ...... 😊 😊 😊
I love this channel as Doodle gets self-taught adulting lessons in things young kids back in the day did literally all day long until the dinner bell rang. Most 10 year olds could wrench a lawnmower or a minibike back then. It's a thrill to watch you learn why thry invented toy haulers. Once you've got the bug, any toy is cool! I highly recommend cheap Amazon pit bikes! After watching you negotiating log piles on an Africa Twin, a dirt bike should be easy!
That was a really cute video - and I don't mean that in a belittling way - I'm an off road/dirt bike only guy, I'm too chicken to do a lot of the riding you do. It's awesome seeing women grab onto the motorcycle hobby, and make it their own. So far, the only girl I have gotten to ride with me is my sister - the sport needs more of you ladies!
I have said for years that a person needs a bike they can afford to drop an laugh about it. It really needs to be their first bike. Its very hard to learn skills that you can't practice for fear of droppings your bike.
Doodle You are a riot !! I started riding mini bikes in 1972 and worked my way up to 500’s 750’s 1000’s and on up . Back in the day we all found mini bikes as our entry points then into Moto Cross , Enduro , Trials , and then out into that insanity that is the public road . Enjoyed your Sturgis videos much much more than just the T and A that everyone puts out . YOU DO A GREAT JOB DOODLE !! Keep up the great work !!
I love that you had so much fun while learning new things. This was a welcome departure from your usual style content of riding and chatting, and the well placed use of memes was enjoyable.
This video was incredibly fun. You should do Top Gear style challenges on Larry. I especially liked all the firsts. The learning the adventure of the whole thing. Honestly you are an inspiration to everyone that watches you. Thank you!
I love this so much!! I’ve been thinking of buying one of these for my kids but was hesitant because I’m not mechanically savvy but this gave me the encouragement to go ahead and buy it. Thanks doodle!
There are dozens of yt vids on how to unbox and setup, hundreds on how to fix and tune. Dozens of user Forums and local clubs too. These are literally identical to the ones we had in the 60s but with more powerful motors. You'll have a blast, but you will have to learn what "reliable" meant in a 1960s way: it meant it worked as long as you kept repairing it. Vehicle maintenance and repair was a weekly chore back in the day. On any Saturday, there was a sea of cars with hoods up in the neighborhoods. These bikes are the same. Wheel bearings fail about every 20 hours of riding (which is actually a lot of riding time), cost 10 bucks and 10 minutes to replace. Chains need maintenance and sometimes break. Cables stretch and break, etc. No biggie, but folks below 40 are used to bikes and cars that rarely need repair. This is just 60s tech that needs attention. It's actually as much fun to work on them as it is to ride them, and your kids learn life-long skills and confidence in using tools to have fun.
Great job on the video thanks for sharing. Great way to learn anything and a better understanding of bikes like cars is to get your dirty and do as much as you can yourself. Don’t understand the concept of a car or bike guy been doing and have club raced both for decades and now retired I still enjoy both as much as possible. Couldn’t find Coleman mini bikes on Amazon here in Australia only parts and the distributor here charges $3500 AUS.
Great job. Loved the Bikes and Beards reference. Admittedly I put off watching this, wondering what you were up to. Makes perfect sense! The cry of joy was awesome. Way to ask for help when needed, too. :)
Nope, no gears. It's a centrifical clutch. You just turn the throttle. It's cute. We had them when we were kids. And then my dad bought us a. 1948 Cushman Motor Scooter to play with.
These are great bikes to build and have fun with! We throw 212cc or 224cc predator engines on them, building them an doing 85+ mph on them. You will love the ct200u 😎🤘🏼
Hey Doodle. I think you should see how Larry does for the Jerry Paladino style challenges. And now that you have a Coleman mini bike, you do realize it is a requirement to build at least one sketchy ramp out of scrap lumber and cinder blocks and then try to jump it.
I think it's actually a law in many states. Pro tip: practice saying "I'm good!" while clutching your ribs and spitting mud. That's when you know you've got the jump dialed in just right. If my parents knew half the knucklehead stunts we pulled on minibikes in the 60s! I'm teaching them to my grandkids now while my daughter stands by yelling at me. My daughters were daredevils growing up, so I don't know why they complain....
@@jenngill7772 I think the scar thing fails with them. They have a few battle scars themselves and don't desire the chics. For some reason that eludes me, they aren't bothered by their own scars but can't stand to see boo-boos on their babies.
To truly achieve that first mini bike experience one must partake in the assembly with only excitement, anticipation and impatience. Slap it all together and then realize you messed up and then proceed to actually reading the manual. That is the rite to passage :)
Great idea. I’m in the UK and we have to start on a 125cc bike. I kept my Benelli TNT 125 after passing my unrestricted licence test and also have a 660cc bike. But I love going out on the 125 when I want a more care-free ride and just fancy a tootle about. It brings back memories of riding my bicycle when I was a kid. No concerns about weight, or dropping it or not being able to put two feet down. I love it.
Damn. My very first street-legal motorcycle after getting my "M" (for motorcycle) endorsement on my license was a 93 in³ shovelhead, which is 1524 cc. In a lot of ways we are extremely safety minded in the U.S., but apparently not when it comes to driving.
I rode a Benelli TNT 125 in part of my MSF riding course here in the states. I still think about getting one of those one day for a second bike for city riding.
So proud of you Doodle. Yes it has a pull to start just like a lawnmower put I would pull it a little faster. it's like what we started with 60 some odd years ago. good luck.
Safety first! I love it! Also, the thing that looks like a strainer basket in the gas tank is a flame arrestor, it stops a flame from entering the tank and causing an explosion.

Just put a stage 1 kit on it, 18# valve springs, remove the governor and break off the throttle stop tab. If you want to really get it moving, put a torque converter on it. My dads runs 55 with the 196 engine on it, with the mods I mentioned. I do a lot of off road on mine, so I kept the Jack Shaft but put on a 60 tooth rear sprocket for better hill climbing and such. I am one who rode a mini bike as a kid. Great memories. My neighbor moved back to Canada 🇨🇦 and sold me his mini bike, so I purchased it because, well I had to. It belongs to my wife now, and she’s very proud of it. I think it’s under powered and needs a bigger engine but she says no :( Ours is smaller than yours. Way to go for trying new things! Ride safe!
Great and fun video!! Always wanted a mini bike, but also if you’re doing UA-cam full time why are we only getting 1 video a month???? We need more doodle
Brilliant video for your 1st mini Larry. Many of us started with the mini bike. I guess since we were kids and "grew" into big people's bikes. Bravo for your mechanic skills!
Oh Doodle!!! Thank you for making my day! I LOVE you and Larry, I cracked up watching this video and wanted to reach out and give you a big high five and a hug! Hope to see you the next time you're down in Florida to do some training with Motorman. I think I'll be ready to ride in a few months.
Sorry it took me a day to get to this video. Okay that said it was quite entertaining, fun and had a smile all the way through her assembly and cuteness. Keep up the good work you’re pretty awesome👏
WOW.... you gotta love a lady that's determine to put a bike together, get sweaty & dirty.. without cussing (on video at least)... and take the time to read the instructions!!!! Way to Go Doodle!!! Be safe on that cause it can throw you just as easy has a big bike.... I know from having one back when I was a kid and hit a tree root the wrong way. Coleman makes some good stuff... I still use a gas powered generator for my home when the power goes off and I've had it for over 30+ years... just like anything keep the oil changed and maintain it and it'll last. Looking forward to your Sturgis videos!!!! Be safe out there!!

Great idea to have great fun. 🏍 I started at 6 years old on a Honda Z50 Mini Trail. Now I'm 57 on a Suzuki GSX-S 750. Great job assembling your Coleman Mini Bike.
Observed Trials is your answer. Learn everything you need to ride anything (and well), and do it under 10 mph. This is actually better advice than you will ever know.
My wifechas a red ct200 and she loves it. You can remove some springs in the throttle gives it more go. She's like 125lbs so it moves with her on it about 30 mph
My first mini bike was a home built frame, 3hp, and a friction brake. Just a 3-4in strip of metal rubbing against the tire. Not a fast machine, but the brake was still sketchy.
That was hands down, the best 11:38 of my life 🤣 I nearly choked on my peanut butter and celery while laughing at the chicken with his pants on. A mini-bike and you put it together yourself!!!! I love your sense of humor and the joy you bring to others through your epic video creations ♥️ Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!
I'm really glad you getting in to this stuff it's great to see. UA-cam channel red beards garage is where me and my son learned a lot. Good luck and have fun
Eyebrows of the sixth dimension at 4:46 explode my brain. Hahahaha! Also the wiggle dance of success is priceless. I do it all the time. Thanks Doodle. You be inspirational.
LOL love ❤️ it.Big smile all the way through it.Keep it up Everyone needs to watch something to make them smile 😊 and lighten up every once in a while. Great Job keep it up 👍
Theres so much you can do to those engines too. Mods are pretty cheap. A Mikuni VM22 carbureter would go a long way. Billet piston and rod for like a hundy, cast rockers for 20 or so, you can play with valve spring weights. Cams are usually 50-70. Just bash out that governor and tap the hole for a bolt and some loctite. Predator 212 / GX200 builds are a lot of fun. I actually have a modded Predator 212 swapped into an XR250 and that thing actually scoots.
After Larry and I went for a ride, I went to Sturgis and saw at least 3 other Larry's. The video on Sturgis will be next. What kind of mods do you want to see on Larry?

Larry is a fine specimen as is. Maybe add a touch of sparkle to the frame.
You need some lights. Maybe you can upgrade the engine with a big bore kit. How fun.
I'd remove that governor, add a rearview mirror on the handlebar, and bicycle lights front and back. And wooohoooo!!! 10:01 haha!

My neighbor bought one. He replaced the carb. Runs great drives everywhere.
My wifechas a red ct200 and she loves it. You can remove some springs in the throttle gives it more go. She's like 125lbs so it moves with her on it about 30 mph
Cody knows his stuff, great pick in his car.
Qute litlle bike . You are going to have a lot of fun with it I think.
Too cool never too old to have fun looking forward for more minimize video we love ya up here in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

Larry I Ran Out of Room is snazzy. And looks fun to ride! Great job!
Congratulations and be very careful they don't stop as good as you would think ..
Eyebrows of the sixth dimension at 4:46 explode my brain. Hahahaha! Also the wiggle dance of success is priceless. I do it all the time. Thanks Doodle. You be inspirational.
I use that plastic oil funnel with the shut off/pour feature, too. Nice inexpensive tool for small engines.
Can’t wait to see more vids with the mini bike!
LOL love ❤️ it.Big smile all the way through it.Keep it up Everyone needs to watch something to make them smile 😊 and lighten up every once in a while. Great Job keep it up 👍
Your excitement when it first started was just classic!! LOL
Hey Doodle, definitely have to do a few Top Gear Challenges. This video is brilliant, and the all the gear all the time was great to see.
