  • Over a year ago, I was the first one in Belgium to receive a Starlink dish and the results were amazing. But over time, the service got worse and is now at a point where it doesn't make sense to me anymore. In this video I'm explaining why I'm ditching Starlink.

I’m happy with my STARLINK connexion ! I used to have Proximus and the connexion was not so good as STARLINK ( 30Mbs/sec ) and the price was approximately the same , I got the Proximus Tv but I don’t watch Tv anymore so it doesn’t make sense… I prefer to finance life beyond earth rather than the monopolizing Proximus

I'm happy for you that it works for your needs. As said, for some reason my service level has dropped drastically. Maybe because of too many people in my area. No idea, but not workable for me anymore...

I'm surprised about your internet connection in Belgium. I thought it would have been much better, unless your are in an insulated area maybe. I never thought you would need a satellite connection.

I don’t. That is what I explained. I get much better connection for a lower price. I bought Starlink for testing purposes and as a backup solution originally

@@StevenPeeters ok it's much better then. I was like why the hell a country like Belgium needs satellite connection. You scared me. 😄
I'm pretty sure even mobile is better.

Did you try running the numbers on running Starlink via Ethernet?
I don't think I saw those results in your clip?
I am interested in seeing if the numbers are in line with WiFi connecton to it.

Second set of results was via wired connection.

Here in Denmark it really doesn’t make sense for most people, but given the current time (fuck Putin) , it is certainly worth it as a backup connection for companies where internet connections are critical.

I was happy with Starlink, but I got tired of my Television being downloaded from New York because of the location of the download site. So I abandoned it. It cost A LOT and the price increase was a downer. So I sold my Starlink and now get video from my local market that is closer to where I actually live. I now have Comcast and it's not as good. CC gives me a lot of pausing, some buffering etc. which did not occur with Starlink. Although CC is supposed to be 300 Mpbs, Starlink running at 35 to 80 Mbps gave me better performance.
Unlike you, my upstream was always higher than CC is.

I am lucky to live in an urban area so don’t need the more expensive starlink

Choppy connection: did you think about loadbalancing and QoS setups: in some scenarios it‘s fine do not rely on just one ISP. Thanks for your honest review: at the end, it must fit your needs 👍

Yes, I did think of automatically load balancing the connections, but both routers are far apart and it would mean pulling a whole bunch of additional wires, which is very costly and impractical. And then there's the cost of the load balancer itself. Just not worth the effort.

Thnks Peter for informing opinion on starlink ..its clear starlink works but pricing and what other providers offer has too be taken into account.

Exactly! We are spoiled with our gigabit landline connections. And for us it just doesn't make sense to switch to something that is severely affected by weather and not even stable in speed in bright skies. There are other cases where Starlink an literally be a life saver
