My partner was pregnant with our first child and sadly had a miscarriage on December 31st 1999. This song always hits me hard , especially the line “the smell of hospitals in winter and the feeling it’s all a lot of oysters but no pearls” has a deep meaning to us about this sad period in our life.
This song brings a purity to my life I haven’t felt since I was a teenager. It’s like opening a yearbook that takes you back to your youth. Thanks for the memories.
“To see the way that light attaches to a girl.” A girl redirected by brother’s life who was struggling in the dark with drugs and a life of crime. She’s been my sister in law for 10 years now. Love ya, McKenna. 🙏🏻
Every once in a while you can catch something so spontaneous and magical. That acoustic version is the best I’ve ever heard of Long December. Much thanks for capturing this gem!
@@giorod223q6 Agreed. I have so much love for the band. I do. Saw them live again last summer in New Orleans and it was great. But I told my wife a few years back that I’ve come to realize I’m not so much a huge fan of Counting Crows… I’m a HUGE fan of August and Everything After. It’s just a flawless album. So even when Adam himself is doing a different rendition, I’m like hey man why you fuckin with perfection?
This was a break up song in 1997 for me . I married that girl two years later .2024 and I'm spending my first night alone in a flat listening to this as we break uo again.
It's so nice to see that Adam is facing shit and singing about it. I have been waiting decades for this... Seriously, like 25 shows, and like 26 years.... Thank You, Adam.
He’s such a free form artist I love how comfortable and never the same live I feel it I was born in December and have a troublesome-past that this somehow relates to me through I can’t remember ow many times I’ve cried the entire way through myself performing this song and I miss the ocean a whole lot myself thanks for the music and god bless
Hmm the only Live at Town Hall performance I see is of them playing the whole August album, which doesn't have Colorblind on it. However, that opening performance he does of Round Here combined with Raining In Baltimore is, as you say, SPECTACULAR.
@@VicInNocal its a different album if I remember correctly. On "this desert life" and i heard the song in the movie " cruel intentions". The song is very moving and somewhat diagnostic psychiatrically but its just a beautiful song. Adam has a beautiful voice and he's a great entertainer.
Wish the cameramen would have STOPPED WALKING AROUND ON THAT SHITTY FLOOR oh my god. The only video in this series that annoys me, especially because I love this song.
I think you are tone deaf. He is perfect because he isn't a computer or auto tune. he is a human who may not have perfect pitch 24 7. If you want to hear it the same way as the album everytime play the cd. Some of us like when an artist feels the music in present time. They build the up then that flows with the crowd back and forth. You don't have to be so technical and over analyze if your the real deal and truly have soul and a good timing with the music. Impromptu is a beautiful special experience to see live. Some shows are better then others. But all have their own style to be appreciated. That's how you find the best way to sing a song I think. Try singing it or playing it a few suttle different ways each time until you know how you love it.

This is peak Adam that made us all still watch it a quarter of a century later
His voice has a way of reaching deep into my soul.
Got me through so many lonely times. Thanks Adam

I hate to compare different versions of this song.but the one on the album is the one that gets me.

He sings like he means it. His songs have acomponied me through some emotional scrapes, that's for sure. Bless his fluffy hair.
I love this man ❤️
Right there with you!

12/2020 and couldn’t be feeling it more . Thank you for posting. 💙
Me too ❤️
A piano and apparently no microphone. Love this song. Perfect!
the way he sings this is very touching.
Stunning song beautifully performed by one of the worlds truly great lyricists.
I really love what he says at the end.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!! ❤
One of the most beautiful voices ever!♥️
He doesn’t need a band. He sounds great! Very talented!
But I'm glad he does have a band. Awesome albums and live performances.
Still cuts so deep… Damn Adam so beautiful
I think we're all hoping for a better next year
There's reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last
@@jeffreyscheiwiller2950 I feel you.
Prayers to those who love this song!
Love it! Thanks for the upload!
....love.....
Learning the backstory to this performance only makes it better. It's in a video called Counting Crows 2 Meter Sessions
Amazing
Still has it.
Filmed in 1997
There is a you tube video called the counting crows live at the town hall.
When they do colorblind its spectacular.

I felt that
Zo mooi
Unreal
it took Jan Douwe quite some time to convince him to bring the song... He was nodding a lot due to recent break up
❤❤❤❤
I Love You XX
❤ espetáculo
He’s really singing and playing an instrument, not like the fraud frontmen of 2020.
And great lyrics that he wrote
He’s actually a really good piano player

Break up song December '97
Me too . Tough year then collectively .
💪🏻🇺🇸💙✌️
Anyone know what kind of hat he's wearing here?
A stupid hat.
Why wear one inside?
A fedora, or travelers hat. And it's NOT stupid. He's brilliant.
1997 was than and NOW we are F CV WW3 no food , no gas I love this song but we are f
Bad recording.
it was kind of impromptu, being backstage
plane crash
He’s really terrible outside the studio. Ouch.
Not really.
He sounds literally the same lol
False.
You are clearly tone-deaf. I’d get that checked out bud.
