keep practicing mate you will get there 👍 Top tip tho try not to take off with the drone facing you as the controls will be reversed it may catch you out one day
It's certainly a good idea to practise the basic manoeuvres since I know as a senior drone pilot myself it's all too easy to make mistakes, especially after being away from it for a while. I try to make it a habit more or less to take drone, RC and a spare battery in some pockets or small backpack if there's the remotest chance of doing a little flight wherever I go just to keep my hand in. I'd be a bit wary of doing it at that quite busy junction. I would be anxious the drone would do an emergency RTH and come down near fast traffic. You did well dropppimg it right onto your mat. Mostly now I pluck it out of the air about head height . There's a lot to think about between drone handling, photofraphy and watching for obstacles and people. Yet we see drone footgae and it looks so calming and smooth! 🙂
Thanks for the good advice. I tried to find somewhere that had minimal traffic. You see people flying their drones out miles away. So far I haven’t flown it so far away that I couldn’t hear it. Building myself up for that one.
My DJI Mini 3 Pro is fairly invisible very quickly even with flashing strobes I put on so I’ll keep those for night flights. I get it up and a distance away to save my neck. My biggest over water was a couple of weeks ago over a ferry. It gave a shock when it said “battery low return to home”. It just made it back as I had gone farther than I thought!
Hi Rob.... can you not practise hovering and basic slight movements in your back garden to learn control?? OOI what stick do you use for up/down?? Keep at it buddy... and as mentioned, take off with drone facing away from you, until you become more confident. Nice one... we all started somewhere!
@@markshinton2280 no room in my back garden really. I was getting used to it at the beginning of the year but I’ve neglected flying it. So I’ve forgotten most of what I did learn. I’ll try facing it the other way next time I fly.
That's certainly a nice place to practice. I gotta say this Rob that was a sensible bit of parking.
I love it round there. Do the DofE on that ground.

@@mavicairflyeruk cheers for the advice. I’ll give it a go next time.
Yes good advice. I also try to get it a short distance away before putting it up high to save my aging neck and back😂
@@TerryMcGearyScotland ha ha yeah I had to hold on to the car when looking straight up. I got all discombobulated.
@@robtherover 😂 You can get tablets for that!
Some lovely footage there Rob
Thanks Michael. I need a lot more practise with it though.

If you want to see that flight sorry it’s on my other channel where I made my original comment. @TerryMcGearyScotland
@@Telthecelt i want to fly it out over the sea living on the coast as I do. But I definitely need to get some more practise in before I risk it.
@@Telthecelt I’ll have a look at it. Cheers mate.
That was good piloting Mate 👍 Thinking need to get practicing 😂
It’s ok once it’s up in the air. As always it’s the take off and landing that’s dodgy.
@@robtherover I really need to get some practice in, not had chance but think ill try this weekend 👍

It has auto land .. why risk your fingers
@@donegalrediscovered3309 it was on auto land but that was taking it to the middle of the road so had to do it manually.
