Facts!!!!!! Especially the pac part! People needed to hear he Is Mortal
Yes indeed. I feel this
100 PERCENT !!!!!
Chris Lighty gets mentioned almost every episode of Drink Champs
As he should!
Chris was that dude man…RIP
@NY State Of Mind this is why Drink Champs is so great because I knew Chris Lighty for his Violator days but I would have never knew that he had such a profound mark on Hip Hop. His Drink Champs episode would have been legendary. We were robbed like with Kobe's HOF speech...by the way, Nas the GOAT 🐐 and it's not even close 👑, I know that was random but it's true
@@santinovaughn9336 Listening to Native Tongues in the early '90s, they mentioned Chris Lighty a lot.
I'm surprised nobody has made up a story on when they met him in the comments
54 looks great on Dres. Several legendary rappers never made it to that age. Glad he's still with us. Salute to Dres and Mista Lawnge and long live Black Sheep.
He'll be 56 next month.
I think this was one of the best interviews in a long time, but he does not look great for 54. Looks like a smoked out older dude on the street corner who has a lot of history to share. I met so many of those dudes growing up in Harlem. Reminds me of a few book vendors I knew on 125th street that sold books on African/African American history who clearly were base heads, but were knowledgeable and had some wisdom to impart. Dres does not look good in my opinion. Chi Ali looks about the same age as Dres, and he is younger than Dres!!! Look at Ali's last interview on Vlad TV. Chi Ali looked like shit!!
Dres is legendary to Hip Hop and I'm glad he still with us just like a Smokey Robinson or a Patti Labelle it's just Hip Hop is a different genre of music to R&B.

When that "engine number 9" part came on during The Choice is Yours, NOTHING beat the energy in a club or party when everybody would get low.... then start jumping up and down after Dres yells "Pick it up!" X 3💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bruh that’s when we were still going to House Parties and the whole party would slow up and when they said “Pick it up pick it up pick it up” everyone would go crazy
We did that in the uk too internationally iconic song
Throwback Classic !
Amen.
Bruh, I can still see me and homies gettin hype when they played that tune @ the party!
Thats why I miss albums with one producer. Pete Rock, Premier, Dre, HItmen, Quik, Manny Fresh, Pharrell, etc. I like that distinct sound. When you get albums with 10 different producers, the album sounds all over the place.
Facts
You really gonna say that about illmatic
It all depends on the Artist & concept of the album etc.
Nah it depends. Illmaric has multiple producers and matter of fact Pete hasn't produced on no other Nas albums besides Ill
I Agree
Dres is undeniably the only individual guess who holds the truth sacred with an unbiased opinion that’s truthfully real & nurturing at the same time.
We as a black race should recognize & understand how much power & influence we have when we pull our resources together.
This is 1 episode I will willingly watch over & over because of all the substance that it contained.
Salute to everybody that made this episode happen, because otherwise we wouldn’t have never known the true history of the many fill ins that Dres presented…💯🔥🔥🔥🥂🏆

Dres explained the DJ situation perfectly. These days the audience is mainly looking for what is popular, not necessarily for what is hot. The DJ use to break records and the audience appreciated it immediately. Now, if it wasn't already sanctioned as acceptable, it's not hot. The industry is over saturated with people that aren't really talented and who follow a formula.
100% facts
yeh it speaks volumes... its really middle men meddling in the culture. Why wouldn't you use a dj that spends all day in the culture, mixing the culture, knowing its history and areas, all its criteria to determine what THEY like and listen to them makes so much more sense to be up on ua sh*t! and thats said from someone thats deejayed for 20 plus years. Now you can buy a controller and be the slave of the audience, the roles have reversed. Imagine being a doctor and your patient saying, yeh no one really feeling that pill i'll tell you what to prescribe 🥴🥴🥴
Technology has evolved to where we can all be the DJ. Stop complaining about change and embrace and evolve.
You don’t have to wait for the DJ when you can download or stream ANY ARTIST you want whenever you want.
So the dj does not control what’s hot or heard.
Listen to what you like not what they tell you.
@@jamesbrown776 This isn't a complaint, it's a historical occurrence. It's just a transformation in the industry and how it impacted people socially. Not sure if you heard what Dres said, but the industry has more control over what is heard and what is more than ever before. Not sure if you have the experience from that time to understand, especially if addressing the difference reads as a complaint. Peace and Light.
Dres was keeping it real and they edited out some of the stuff he said about Iheartradio & radio politics
Love how DJ EFN is asking more meaningful questions
EFN definitely asks questions out of left field but always questions I always wanted to know the answer to. Wish he'd ask more tho.
He always do that. That's why he's there. He's the DJ; he has the knowledge. Somebody said it best in his last interview with Red Alert (Red was talking basic hip hop knowledge and some of it went over Nore's head. Spyder D. I think it was), Nore's been 'a casual' in hip hop. He knows the big artists, but DJ EFN knows ALL the music.
If it wasn’t for EFN, Nore would just be asking these rappers if the eat ass or not lmao there was a point where he asked that question to every guest
@@juliocorrea2552 LMAO
EFN is a head for real. Have you heard his albums? Dude is legit.
Not to shit on N.O.R.E. tho, I don't always agree with him or how he interrupts mfs, but he has his place too.

This brother Dres is a real dude. I'm from Chicago and I had an encounter with him and some of his crew in the mid 90's. Back then our city was heavy into the gang culture. I myself was heavily involved with the nonsense. Anyhow, me and my people were at a club that we considered ours. So, one of my people comes up to me and says, " We got trouble at the front." I instantly get into fight mode. So we make our way to the front. I see the club security trying to separate the two groups. I walk up and ask one of my guys," What happened?" My guy is like," They trying to disrespect. " I'm like, " What did they do?" My manz is like," They comin' in here with their hats swinging the wrong way. " ( In Chicago a person could literally get killed if the bib to their hat is turned in a certain direction)... Dres was with about seven or eight guys. A couple of them were Latinos and they were the ones who my guys had a problem with.
What I remember most was, these cats stood their ground and it was about to get ugly. Dres was the reason of voice. So I tell my people to chill out and let me talk to Dres one on one. He says to me," We mean no disrespect. We're from New York and that hat shit doesn't mean anything where we're from." I'm like, " I feel you, but here, it identifies who your enemies are." He says," Aight, but it's the way your guys tried to push on us. Feel me?" And to be real, he had a point. So I tell my guys to chill. In return he tells his guys to straighten out their hats. His guys DID NOT want to straighten those baseball caps for shit!!! Lol.
After a little while had passed we were all talking as if there was never a problem. I had mad respect for the way that the brother Dres handled the situation.
I had to tell my people, " We're supposed to be about Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice. We're not supposed to be on that unconscious bullshit. Straight up!!" It was supposed to be against our principles to gang up on anyone because they had less numbers. Nowadays, none of that matters.
At the end of the day, there was no blood shed and in reality, there never should be.
True story. Thanks for sharing it. He seems like the real deal.
@@nmarcus7233 No problem. If someone was to ask him about that night I'm sure that he would remember it.
I was amazed by his calmness. Because trust me, some of my guys are really on another level. But Dres was respectful while still demanding his respect too.
He was definitely cool.

Mind you, Ice Cube and the west coast ruled during that time.
It's funny NY had to fall back as we know NY weren't very welcoming to other regions during the earlier days of hip-hop.

I really love these interviews cause Dres came with the truth and nothing but the truth, he's differently a leader not a follower.💃🏾🕺🏾🥰💯
Peace to Dres who gave me props for the glow in the dark t-shirt I gifted him at a show at the Apollo in the mid 90s
My favorite MC of all time, Dres dropping Gemz like a Diamond Cutter! Van Damm this was a top flight Interview!
Yoooooooo....Chi Ali in the house!!! The Funky Roadrunner himself!!
This ain't Chi Ali, that's Dres from Black Sheep.
@ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ chi ali is definitely right beside him lol someone didnt watch or read
@@majestythegod6745 Don't say nothin'...just let it ride. 🤣🤣🤣 I needed the laugh, yo.
@@5burowz You're right, I responded too quickly.
This should have been a solo Dres interview. Chi was treated like an unnecessary addition.
Dres’ comments about 2Pac and Flex were raw. His Large Pro stories had a lot of lessons.
No they weren't sound like he was hating kinda
Chi has already been on drink champs so that makes sense
@@Igetsitin89 I didnt feel any hate in his comments, just too real for you. Pac was far from perfect, just like all of us
@DAM D nobody perfect but why he held his tongue all this long , dude was hating
Dres digging in they chest 🗣💪🏾💪🏾 Nore tryna tip toe around the truth, playing politics.
I swear when I was a kid I’m 41 now but I always thought dres and chi Ali was brothers they looked just alike to me love black sheep tru mcs
vingar
Man thank you NORE once again for these interviews for the past few years. Man some of these dudes I looked up to and wanted to be in the rap game so bad.
I love the fact that Dres used my city in one of his examples. BALTIMORE
Love this interview. Hearing Dre's truth. Queens!!!
Dres speed talk so Nore couldn't interrupt 🤣🤣🤣
That's how you do mofos that interrupt
Best interview by far love the fact Dres put building each other up and wanting to see each other win .
Love the stories! I’m reeled in like a fish on the line!
2 of my favorite MC's Dres and Chi-Ali of the Native Tongue's. I just loved those brothers.
This interview is excellent!
glad kings are coming together to talk.
DJ EFN is such an anchor of this pod frfr
Lol..."Yo, pass the 40, cause my mom's not looking" ...Chi was destined for stardom from the get go. Hated hearing he got caught up. I still play Black Sheep's first 2 albums several times a year.
Word is Bond... Dres came to see me in Harlem on 135th & 8th Ave to possibly do an Air Brush for his dude's: The Legion... He was mad cerebral & Kool like he was in this episode... Black Sheep was my group ..
It’s crazy how Nore really pushes the PAC issue with NY but when you bring up Ny’s issues with Southern Artist he acts like it never happened..peace to Dres
THANK YOU!!!!! that nigga be killin me with that shit.."NY don't hate on nothing outside of NY..what are you talking about? We show love..I never heard that "..🙄 nigga please..im from VA and NY niggas lovvvve comparing EVERYTHING to NY..if it ain't NY it ain't shit... "I'm from New York!" 😒
Real tho😂 he be pulling a Stevie Wonder😎
@@badnewzscubasteve even Camron admitted that's how new York ppl are thinking that they're better than everybody
Niggaz wouldn't be doing all this shit if pac was alive
