  • This is a first look and install of the Lumenier AXII HD2 Antenna Combo for DJI Goggles. I will try to get a range test completed before the first look, but weather has been terrible for a few days now. I'll do what I can.

    I've been using this for about a week now. The range and penetration over the stock antennas is great, even outside of the patch cones.

    Omg im new to this drone thing, i bought those to upgrade my dji goggles for the dji fpv, ive received it today and installed it, i went to my normal fly spot at an open baseball field, and i noticed that i would get a message in the goggles about signal being block that i have never experience before. I would adjust my head to face the direction of the drone and it would clear up.. But than again today our high school had a football game which is like 4 blocks away, when we normally have that somehow signals gets jammed on cellphones, like u cant even go fb live, when i finally landed to change battery, i couldnt take off anymore since theres not signal. I will try again tomorrow when theres no games near my field which is an uncontrolled air space.

    I have one true rc patch and 2 stock antennas and ge over 2.5 miles. I like this ones. But range maybe get better with this one.

      At distance I would expect the patch to provide the signal. Hopefully, I'll get to do a little testing soon.

    Any verdicts on upgrading from the DJI stock antennas to these Lumenier AXII HD antenna? I personally find all the specs in the world don't necessarily mean a hill of beans compared to 'Real World' testing and results. As you mentioned...companies arent' always comparing apples-to-apples so easy to manipulate data. Whereas real-word testing is...what it is.

    • @RCVideoReviews

      I'll put it this way: I've seen 50.8mbps to 1.5mi in my ground testing. When the quad turns and the battery gets in the way, the bitrate drops off significantly sometimes, so I have some new antennas I need to test. The outbound at a distance was rock solid though. Also, you do have to manage beamwidth. It's only ~75° so your head becomes the tracker.

      Just switch power to 700-1200mw and no need spend money for garbage antennas. Stock 1200mw easy penetrate 5-6km in field. Tested with Chimera 7.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому +2

      That hasn't been my experience at all.
      1) They're not garbage antennas. That is a totally subjective comment and not appropriate. Have you tested them? Have you validated anything about them?
      2) At 1000mw I've seen bitrate drop below 5mb at under a mile in a turn.
      3) Variables in environment, altitude, humidity, temperature and other factors impact RF propagation. So don't assume just because you saw something happen, universally it will work the same for others.
      Directional antennas are a well respected and documented facet of RF technology to manage distance. Glad you get 5-6km on your stock antennas with 1200mw--that DEFINITELY was not what I experienced.

    Hey you mentioned these won't be good for the DJI drone as that transmits 2.4ghz as well? What antenna would you recommend for the DJI fpv drone?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому

      These might even cause damage if bound to a DJI drone because they are 5.8ghz antennas. I've not really shopped for dual band upgrades.

    I have a question, I want to fly indoor with my Cinewhoop and outisde with the 5 inch freestyle both with caddx vista. Is this antenna good for both areas?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому +1

      The goggles will use the antennas with the best signal. The stubby omnis will work fine indoors without having to "aim" your goggles at the quad. The patch antennas will have deadspots at close range. The same rules apply outdoors, but if the quad is a bit farther away, the patch antennas will be more effective as long as you're looking in the general direction of the quad.

      @@RCVideoReviews ah thats what i thought, i'm not sure you can put the patches on receive though, its a two way thing it needs. i'm still on the og v2 antenna and one iflight stubby lol, from rcschims tests i'm gonna go with the iflight crystals and stubbies, the prices for antenna are just so high for what they are, ... ps i love the axii see through plastic bit, some leds on a button to frighten dogs away would be cool, like predator hehehehe

      An old friend of mine used to tell me, "buy the best, cry once". When it comes to ground station antennas, you only have to buy them one time. In my experience, I'll take TrueRC over generic antennas any day of the week.

    Can these work on a DJI FPV Drone? I tried them on my ZMO VTOL (RC plane) which comes with the Air unit, but I only got 100 meters before the video signal dropped. Is there a setting in the goggles that I am supposed to change when using these with the Air unit. I have the LHCP version.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому

      100 meters is definitely not right. The stock antennas are good for at least a mile. I would work that out first. I'm not sure of any setting that would limit the range to 100m.
      Yes, these are the same goggles they sold with the DJI drone. There is a menu option to switch back and forth between the drone and non-drone air units though--just don't remember what it's called. I'm flying with mine today, I'll take a look and come back to comment.

      @@RCVideoReviews - Let me clarify - the stock antennas (DJI FPV Drone with Goggles V2) go a good 6km without issues. But I bought the Axis HDII antenna to try and get more range. I have not yet tried the antenna on my DJI FPV drone, but I did try it on a ZMO VTOL which comes with a Air Unit installed. THat is the plane I had the 100 meter range issue with. I haven't tried the antenna on the DJI FPV drone because I was worried after seeing how poorly they pefromed with the ZMO VTOL. I also watched a video recently that suggested the AXIS HDII won't work with the DJI FPV drone.

    When you made your announcement about the screws, were you talking about length or diameter?! I'm assuming length, but you need to specify, because you just can't put a 10mm screw into a 8mm hole! The more important thing is the diameter, so if I'm going to buy some at the hardware store on the way home, what size do I get?!

    • @paulhope3401
      @paulhope3401 2 роки тому +1

      Yes, length, you should be looking for M2 x 8mm with a hex (Allen) cap head.
      Do you not see how absolutely huge a 8mm diameter (M8) bolt would be? :p

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  2 роки тому

      What Paul said. Also, get a variety pack of M2 screws. They're available on Amazon--cheap. Finally, the stock screws might work. The screws I had on the goggles were for a digadapter.
