I have been looking into this lens lately and I have to say the way you did the close up portraits was so creative and unique to me. Maybe another reviewer did that but I haven't seen it. Thank you for all the content.
Your content is solid bro. Love the chemistry you and Diana have. It’s a blessing to have a partner like that. Also I was blown away by the bathtub shot. Super crispy shot 👌🏿 well done
That first mega closeup was so fashion full. Could have graced Vogue or some high end makeup add. Cheers to Diana for being wife, mother, partner, and model. Great to see you guys still running strong.
I love your videos with Diana! You get KILLER shots every time. 🤩 Would you consider making some tutorials that cover your lighting, composition, and posing process during a shoot with her?
I just like your content, a lot. This is not at all the style of photography I'm doing, but all your review and video I watched are really interesting. sooooooooo I subscribed :D
This seems like a really good lens if you want a macro lens that you can use for portraits or events. But if you just want a dedicated macro lens, the Laowa 100mm 2.8 is cheaper and has a 2:1 magnification. No AF but for macro, you focus with your hands anyway
Sigma is very under rated. I shot with a 135 mm sigma telephoto lens for the university newspaper in the early 80's as a photojournalism student. The images very sharp with good contrast. The 105 mm. focal length is ideal for portraiture and journalism. The 105 mm. focal length was almost a necessity as a staff photographer.
You can use that lens for way more than portraits. I use my 70-210 on macro at 2.8 for Food photography … AT f5.6-f8. Unless I back up where I can shoot at a high aperture, closing down works wonders. Try closing down a stop or two and you'll get your macro shots in focus. Your lens comes with more than just one aperture, learn to close down not just single it out for "portraits". That lens is awesome for long range landscapes even at F11. catalog shooting at F8, portraits at 5.6, car photography at F8. Action shots at any aperture... etc
Interesting timing for the release of this video, Manny 🤔 I just received an email from Sigma Canada about this lens and was hoping to search for a lens review this afternoon...but here we are. 🤭 Wondering if you're going to use this lens on a portrait photoshoot? Cheers and Thanks! 🙏💯
Damn! That bath tub shot is crazy!!! I am going to try it this weekend. But I don’t have a on camera flash only an AD200 Pro….gonna be tricky to hold both the camera and the flash at the same time….
You should look at the very old plastic fantastic Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di (I am sure you get it for A mount and us an adapter (you can also get it for F mount and EF mount). Costs less than half the price of the Sigma, it isn't weather sealed, it is extremely plasticy, the AF sounds like a drill but it is optically superb.
Hey Manny, If you had to choose 1 lens would you choose this one or an 85mm f1.8? (For shooting individual/family portraits, occasional weddings, etc.)
I am glad you said the Sigma's DOF is way too thin, because it's the same on my 100m 2x Venus, no IS. Its focus ring is the magnification, and there's no minimum distance. I'm not used to macros, so it's a crazy experience. But at least I know they have DOF in common, and I don't have to return it!
....That diffuser is da BOMB!! lol Seriously, OUTSTANDING WORK with an awesome lens and model; this is another case where Sigma is threatening one of my all-time favorite Sony lenses, FOR LESS MONEY...
buying a dedicated macro is pretty overkill unless that's all you do. You can get macro extender tubes for very cheap and just use your normal lens. Very cool shots though. Never considered taking portraits with a macro
Thanks for the great review. What you didn't talk about was the almost complete lack of chromatic aberration. This must be an apochromatic or almost apochromatic lens. Furthermore the bokeh is clearly nicer than the one of the Sony 90mm. I don't care about image stabilization, but I love apochromatic lenses and want one 😍👍
Dianna: " who wants to see themselves that close?". Manny : Takes Pic and shows Dianna. Dianna: "Ohh wow I want to see myself that close take more pics" . MANNY! DUDE these are absolutely epic photos ! Holy S. Don't enable me =p my wallet is already slim.
I share your distain for bugs! When I was about 11 I had a moth fly into my ear so deep, you couldn't see it and I had to go to emergency. It sounded like somebody placed a 1000w speaker inside my brain and set it to BUZZZZZZ! Snakes yes! Bugs, NOPE! PS. That Walmart Drake Snoot (tm) was impressive. Placed an order on Amazon, should be here tomorrow. Excited!!!
I have the Sigma 105 2.8 Macro for Canon, not as refined looking as the one made for Sony. I also went around finding bugs to shoot when i first got mine it's a fun lens.
Actually, there is not much to do with Auto Focus when shooting macro. I have had the Sony G90 since the day I started with photography. It is superb. I love it. I do not think that I am switching but so glad to see that Sony has more decent lenses from third parties.
A macro lens without OSS sucks a lot though, you need to dial up the aperture to get everything in focus, but because of that need to make the shutter longer. OSS would definitely help with getting sharper images.
I have old sigma lenses I don't use anymore because over time I had noticed the build quality wasn't up to the same standards as the other 3rd party lenses from Tamron which I have had no issues with. Tokina lenses for my requirements are a step down on tamron but better quality than Sigma in my experience. I have stayed with manufacturers own lens now is guaranteed I have no issues going forwards.
i’m not sure who needs an aperture ring when shots macro. but i bloody know who does need a manual focus ring. ME! thanks you sony, you really know what to do.
If you’re reading this... SEND HELP 😩
Lmao...you too are amazing blessings to you and your family

Same with my wife 😂
Why is this so true 😂
I have been looking into this lens lately and I have to say the way you did the close up portraits was so creative and unique to me. Maybe another reviewer did that but I haven't seen it. Thank you for all the content.
Manny, you need to show a video of the "Pringles Macro Flash Modifier", and other hacks. It will be fun to see what can be reused in the house!
That bath photo was so cool! Deserved more screen time though 😂
bruh Diana is so funny😂
Please continue to have fun! The world is serious enough.
I can feel through this video that you’re a humble guy. Bless your heart. Subscribed and just became a fan.

I’ve got the Sony 90mm, it’s so good. Nice to see competition in this space again. Sony also has a newer 100mm STF GM you should check out.
Best line. Just take the pictures! That bath picture is super cool!
Love your editing style! Music selection is excellent s usual. Never could imagine that you ever struggled being in front of a camera.
Have fun bro... That's the best content... Fun+ informative and educational
I love your videos with Diana! You get KILLER shots every time. 🤩 Would you consider making some tutorials that cover your lighting, composition, and posing process during a shoot with her?
Best review yet love how real and vulnerable you both were in this video ‼️
Thank you so much Manny, loved the review and the quality of the lens!
Literally dying about how you regret taking photos of flies 😂 I feel like every photographer can relate at some point in their journey 😂
Literally dying? Are you still alive?
Its great to see your wife supports your passion and grid. Bless up.
The shot @ 1.14 is totally awesome
The bath photo is 🔥🔥🔥
You always find ways to differentiate your brand. 👌 keep killing it Manny!!
I see you're at it again! Incredible content and amazing footage! Keep up the outstanding job! I'm so proud of you!
The first minute or so was the best first minute or so I've ever watched on this channel. Absolutely hilarious!
Great video! You and D are awesome and happy anniversary!
The tub shot was fire!
Best video you’ve done, love the fun “inserted” into this video, too soon? Haha no but seriously do more of this format! Please
Have you tried the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM? You would NOT believe how sharp it is.
Bruhhhh im literally obsessed with the 90mm 2.8 but its slightly out of my budget. Im so glad u uploaded this
“Long and thin, let me see what my wife thinks”. 🤦🏽♂️
Same thing came to my mind bro 😂😅😈
Beat me to it
🤣
I just like your content, a lot. This is not at all the style of photography I'm doing, but all your review and video I watched are really interesting. sooooooooo I subscribed :D

I love photos of the lipstick, so close and this color, great result!!!

Great video as always! Keep having fun!
You do it with reviews! Great real-world testing. The people's reviewer!
The closeups of Diana, turned out pretty good, although she wasn't keen at seeing herself so close.
Amazing focus👍

The contribution of your wife to your channel is immense. Kudos.

Not new to you, but I just subbed! Nice videos fam!

Love you manny! Hola from the Philippines!
The macro feature is good for showing food detail and ring detail if you do weddings or food photographer.
Looks cute!

I love that pic at 1:13 !!!! - I may have to steal that idea.
Lovely content .. Cheers from UK

It’s the cheddar pringles tube for me. Love, love to beautiful Diana.

Hahaha you guys are too funny you should make a blooper video behind the scenes of you guys doing your photo shoots haha
My channel has some of those bts vlogs. The behind the scenes of this one is coming out next week. Lol.
I share your distain for bugs! When I was about 11 I had a moth fly into my ear so deep, you couldn't see it and I had to go to emergency. It sounded like somebody placed a 1000w speaker inside my brain and set it to BUZZZZZZ! Snakes yes! Bugs, NOPE!

Wow that creeped me out lol
Also the Walmart drake snoot😂😂😂
Oh, I did not know that you are a Sony shooter :)) Aren't you?
I don't like danger noodles any more than bugs. 😏
These pictures are soooooooo good!!! Damn.
I wonder if this is better than the Canon 100mm macro 🧐
I have the Sigma 105 2.8 Macro for Canon, not as refined looking as the one made for Sony. I also went around finding bugs to shoot when i first got mine it's a fun lens.
SONY 👑
Great review Manny
Some great images there. I have the sigma 16mm. 1.4 DCDN contemporary for my Canon M50. Love it.
Very very fantastic lens ,

You and your wife crack me up....love your video content and info.
You summarized the Sony 90mm Macro perfectly @ 3:30
i have been watching your video and this is the first time i noticed i haven't subscribed yet. And so i did
2:30 I relate too much right there.🤣
dude, you have such great content!
Dope bro. This might be another lense to add. I dont have a macro becasue I do more video but would like to try it.
A macro lens without OSS sucks a lot though, you need to dial up the aperture to get everything in focus, but because of that need to make the shutter longer. OSS would definitely help with getting sharper images.
I like these shots
I just received the 90mm f2.8 from Sony and it looks like the Sigma version is very competitive.
Great content as always mate, keep it up! 😁
Thanks for such a great review, I think now that I should put this on my to buy list. Yes I changed my mind.
Love this lens 😍
I have old sigma lenses I don't use anymore because over time I had noticed the build quality wasn't up to the same standards as the other 3rd party lenses from Tamron which I have had no issues with. Tokina lenses for my requirements are a step down on tamron but better quality than Sigma in my experience.
I have stayed with manufacturers own lens now is guaranteed I have no issues going forwards.
Keep up the good work my man 👌🏽
good video Manny!!!
that self portrait reflection on the fly tho!
Just subbed... Yt recommend and so do I... Can't wait for more ... Flies on macro 😳
Cool video! The lens is dope👍
Is i still had sony stuff i'd buy this baby ASAP !!! Still love the old 105 2.8 macro also which can be had for around 200 these days.
i’m not sure who needs an aperture ring when shots macro. but i bloody know who does need a manual focus ring. ME! thanks you sony, you really know what to do.
