Hi Mazzy, enjoyed this video. I'm a fan of Mose Allison too. I got turned on to him by Van Morrison's collection "Tell Me Something: The Songs of Mose Allison" (1996). Also a big fan of that Bobby Hutcherson BN LP.

Enjoyed this tag. I have been trying to find Al Errol Garner jazz I could find. He seems to be limited in my part of the wild. His ballad misty has become a standard Again enjoy your channel as always.

Since you recommended it on a previous video, I now have two copies of Mose Allison Sings, one with the black cover and a repress with the alternate name Seventh Son. So good

Nice shout out for Mose Allison, Daddy-O! Went on a hunt a few years back and snagged his Atlantic catalog in mono. Great stuff, and still very affordable to collect. A groovy vinyl tag video...

Of course, Alice is a great intro and makes total sense. I too love Mose Allison's voice. A unique voice and definitely overlooked

Love Mose Allison.I was turned on to him first via The great Georgie Fame probably via the Live at The Flamingo LP from 1964 who later made an album of Mose music with Van Morrison and Mose.

Myra Melford, I love it when you mention records I enjoy. Firehouse 12 Records was founded by Taylor Ho Bynum. They have a very small but amazing catalogue. Thanks for another gem, Mazzy.

Chrissie Hynde’s choice for a jazz jump for an artist was perfect. Totally agree as a favorite or mine.

Mose Allison. I met him. He seemed really nice.
Around 1990-92, I had a friend who was a DJ at WUSB, SUNY Stony Brook. We would improvise on the air. As I was setting up whatever instrument I was playing that day, the buzzer rang. It was this guy who said he was Mose Allison and he was looking for one of the other DJs. So I led him to the control booth.
My friend later told me that that was the guy who wrote "Young Man Blues."

And also thanks for that Melford tip. I was unaware of her and a quick search showed she played with Han Bennink. On top of your recommendations, that's all I need to see.

Around the mid-eighties the College of San Mateo presented a Mose Allison concert for around 5 bucks. I went on the price alone. Without trying to act cool, he was naturally cool without being pretentious.

Had no idea that Chrissie Hynde recorded a jazz album. I just saw her with the Pretenders opening for Guns N’ Roses last summer. She sounded so great! Have to pick that one up!

Atlantic 75 ignores a lot of great records and its a pure shame.
