- This show got under my skin more than anything else this season. It’s not just about what Hollywood does to women, but also what we do to each other and ourselves. All the actors were incredible but Jessica Lange pretty much tore my heart out. She played Joan as desperate, self-absorbed and sometimes cruel… but also as fierce, driven, vulnerable, complex and extraordinarily human. Often in a single moment. It was one of the most fearless & gut-wrenching performances I’ve seen & it will stay with me for a long time.

ROBBBBED! But.. it was the year of the completely-by-surprise massive landing of ‘Big Little Lies.’
And I have hated the Emmy"s ever since. How could those bastards look at something so flawlessly written and directed, so beautifly shot, and witness to great performances not to mention an extraordinary work of art performance by Jessica Lange......be so grossly over looked??? Fuck the Emmy"s, the need to retire the whole entire board, and hire international world famous acting coaches to make the decisions, because those talentless bastards on the Emmy board,wouldn't recognize great acting or a great picture if Mosses lead them to it
Both this and Big Little Lies were amazing. It was a tough call that year and unexpectedly prescient given that BLL won the awards a couple weeks before Me Too was born.

Consider the source - BD-Hyman said all that. I read her book. She's a self-righteous clod. I went back and watched her scenes in Baby Jane after they were touched upon in Feud - and it's true, BD-Hyman's scenes were painful to watch because you can see someone vainly struggling to act.
BD might be that, but don't forget Bette was abusive.

I think Susan deserves credit to she helped Jessica carry this but I am a big fame of an actor or actress taking a character a book like catelyn for example was not liked by probably 98% in the books michelle Fairley version of her made catelyn a fan favorite people legit loved michelle and catelyn she made cat into a more likable human Jessica did this with Joan she made her understanding

The hallucination scene was them apologizing to each other like she wanted them to before she died, to set things right in her heart, mind & soul where Bette Davis was concerned. It was a hard movie to watch but a very moving one. Both actresses deserved to be given an award.
If it was a movie, Jessica Lange would get the Oscar.. "Her" Crawford was mazing :)

I thought that Jessica Lange was absolutely astonishing at playing Joan Crawford. She was robbed of any awards that she was nominated for (totally overlooked).
@@garypatterson2055 as much as I loved Lange as Joan. You can't deny Nicole Kidman was absolutely incredible in Big little lies. Both performance were absolutely favourite.

Ryan Murphy is truly a talented and gifted producer and director.he makes awesome tv shows : glee,normal heart,American horror story,American crime story,scream queens,feud etc.i love all his tv shows.
The dinner table finale scene was incredibly emotional. Lange and Sarandon are absolutely top tier 🔥
Jessica Lange brought me to tears during the series. She's such a raw, rare, one-of-a-kind, authentic actress! Susan Sarandon is amazing as well but Jessica just moved me with her performance.
The same way she moved me emotionally with her emotional, tear jerking scenes in AHS.
This even moved me to tears to see both actresses emotional but Jessica has such a emense, powerful, heartfelt cry that brings me to tears

This series got under my skin too, and I can't shake it. I think about these two immensely talented women and the two immensely talented women who played them. I wanted the series to go on and on. Thank you for posting this; it was marvelously and beautifully done.

It's amazing how wonderful and talented miss lange and miss sarandon are.
How could they?!?! By that, I mean, NOT ONE AWARD for either of the two; everything had to be Kidman.... Of the two, of course I'd hand every award to Jessica; she's my favorite, and this video proved she's brilliant beyond words!! Always has been, to me. She was ROBBED!!!
Sarandon and Lange embodied the very essence of these women. They did one hell of a job. They did Bette and Joan proud. The entertainment industry is Brutal.

I watched this series several times now. Jessica Lange is incredible. That woman can act like no other.
What irony when Betty says "2 seconds that's all any of us will ever get" it maked me shed a tear of joy if they only new a Netflix's show/ tribute was made for them.
I just want to hug Joan and Bette. God bless them both.
After the series I hope more people learn about both, but Joan especially. She was instrumental to cinema history and shouldn't be remembered for a book and movie, anymore than Bette is remembered for a book. Which is to say she isnt at all. Bette drank and smoked just as much and also seduced co-stars and directors. They were so painfully similar that it must have truly annoyed Bette. She was a very difficult person. Her feud with Joan was probably her least substantial of the many feuds she had, yet most known. She would go on to hate Faye Dunaway, ironically, and she tossed both Marlene Dietrich and Hedy Lamarr out of the Hollywood Canteen during WW2, calling them "dirty krauts." They were both lovely women who nobody else ever spoke ill of. Bette had the ability to treat people quite awful. I imagine that would have been crushing to Joan who was always fragile at heart.
Yeah, but in the end something known as "payback" in the form of B.D. Hyman (Bette's daughter) wrote a nasty, tell-all book about her mother a la Mommy Dearest. Joan Crawford didn't live to see the book from Christina, but Bette did from her own daughter. The two never spoke again. You can imagine the pain that book must've caused Bette until her death.
@@shihlin1 Joan did know about the existence of the book. That's why she disinherited her two oldest children. Bette came to read the published book, that's the difference. Read about Joan apart from Mommie Dearest.
True. It also didn't help that Bette fell in love with Franchot Tone when they made the film "Dangerous" together but Joan was the one he married. The plain fact is they were both very powerful women, and power loves not another power.

You should read Maria’s book about DIETRICH. Trust me. These two have NOTHING on DIETRICH she was Something other worldly I don’t see how they could make a Bio film and keep it under Rated R

I think what I learned from this is, life's short. No one's perfect. No one lives a perfect life. We all have our own set of challenges, passions, and setbacks. We're not all that different. WHATEVER life throws at you, NEVER give up. Keep loving and make your mark in the world.

After so many years of Joan Crawford being seen as an incredibly dark and evil person,(mommy dearest) this series had shown her in such a different light that some of have never seen. Explaining, whether right or wrong but maybe where and how this dark light came or could have come about. It shows how vastly different people can act and react to same/similar situation without having to label THE right or THE wrong way do to it, to live it, to finish it. That life is not always easy, it doesn’t always end perfectly and it is okay if it seems like it’s ending that way. No one will ever be able to tell you how you should feel about YOUR individual struggles. That being said, thank you for the video, if Ryan Murphy hasn’t hired to do promotional videos for him by now, he should....You’ve captured the series in an incredible way

yessss!!! so tragic! i know "Feud" took a lot of artistic license, but when Davis (Sarandon) called Crawford (Lange) and said nothing, and Lange said, "This is Joan Crawford... is anyone there?" my heart wanted so badly for Bette to respond.

Holy mother of God... This season ripped me in two for other reasons, but Jessica's portrayal of Joan is as intense a portrayal as Vivien Leigh's Scarlett O'Hara. I love Susan's work and have for over a decade now, but Jess just lifted this storyline to untold heights. I think they complimented each other very well on screen, and I don't want to say Susan played supporting to Jessica's lead, but damn..... Also, this video is incredibly well done, darling. Keep doing what you're doing and learning new things! You have a great talent!!

Katy Petree to me this is more towards Joan rather than Bette & Joan. And I agreed with you in this series I felt Susan plays Bette more like supporting role! I'm a fan of them both too, so either way it doesn't matter to me~

Thank you for reminding me that I wanted and needed to watch this when I saw it on hulu. This was such a beautiful and tragic story.. It holds a special place in my heart.. We never really know what happened between them but it broke me so much knowing they had such potential to have an amazing friendship/relationship, if it wasn't for the industry constantly pitting them against each other.. I would even say that in our society; it has a history of doing this to women because people are aware of the powerful force they could bring forth when united, so they suppress by dividing us... This show has sparked me to want to know more of these amazing legends..

Agree. I was blown away by how well Susan Sarandon captured Bette Davis' walk, gestures, voice and attitude. Jessica Lange did the same with Joan. Despite how terrible a mother she probably was, I admire Joan Crawford very much for the way she pulled herself up by her bootstraps!
I need to get the whole show...so far I've only seen clips! What I have seen is gold. THIS...this poignancy, this mixture of cruelty and love and pain is what 'Mommie Dearest' ought to have been. Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon are both wonderful!
I wish they could have included an incident with Bette Davis that occurred right before she died: she was travelling through France with her assistant Kathryn Sermak and they stopped for lunch at this little place that had outdoor tables covered by Coca-Cola umbrellas. Bette looked at the umbrellas and laughed and said. "No, Joan! No Pepsi for me!"
I never got around to actually watching it, so I'm watching random UA-cam clips and holy moly this was fantastic. That "it was wonderful, but never enough" line broke me. Jessica Lange is an incredible actress and from the basic, common knowledge that I know about these two women, I'd say she was a perfect fit for this role. Susan Sarandon is also amazing, but there is just something about Jessica Lange's portrayal of Joan.

I actually thought I was looking at Bette Davis when Susan Sarandon appeared on the screen. Susan is an excellent actress. And while Jessica Lange was eloquent and pitiful as Crawford I was mesmerized by Sarandon the most. Kudos to both these actors for an exemplary job👍👍

Wow this was more emotional than I thought
I happened upon this and I could watch it over and over. What a talent you are to make this incredible upload. These women were not ordinary. No one could achieve the heights of stardom that they achieved without talent, beauty, and drive. Imagine what they could have had, had they been friends.....they were each half of each other incredible careers. The saddest part is when Bette hangs up afraid when Joan is sick. Being frightened and prideful can do terrible things. No one understood each other better than themselves. So sad. Thank you for this!!

I thought they were BOTH AH-MAHZING! They were BOTH BRILLIANT in their respective roles. I ❤️'d Jessica as Joan and Susan as Bette. PERFECT casting. I think why Feud was SO INTERESTING was because of the fact that there's NEVER been something done that looked at the complicated, complex nature of their relationship/strained friendship.
Just wonderful. Acted and filmed beautifully. Hope it comes out on DVD.
